  I had the same problem. I have went in the Control Panel, chose printers and deleted the "HP 8500 Series Fax"and now it prints correctly. I am running Vista 64 bit. Good luck.

  I have a HP C4385 all in one and when I attemot to scan, unit itself is all in one software, a window that says "hp scanning" appears and then the software freezes.  It does not scan, I get no error message.  I need to reboot to clear the message, but still can not sweep.

  I use Windows XP and connected to the all-in-one wireless device.  I had this problem a few months back and was able to get online HP chat people to help me, but this time I tried twice and they can help. I thnk I downloaded somethingthe last time it was fixed.  Any help would be appreciated.

  I think that there are some conflicts with the drivers.  I was able to get everything working again to completely uninstall the software and then re-install.  It cleared up any questions - until of course, something comes into conflict with her and he messes up.  But it works fine now.

  Wait for 30 seconds

  Printer HP PSC 1400 all-in-one gets always in offline mode after a print job is cancelled or caused an error. I'll need to ALWAYS restart my computer each time this happens because this is the ONLY way for the printer to connect again. The solution Center HP says that it is online and ready for printing.   I saw your post on your printer PSC 1400 series showing you that it is offline and will not print on your system Windows 8.1. I have a suggestion that might help you get through this problem. The tool, as you also mentioned, the print and scan doctor is one of the steps for troubleshooting as well!

  I read about how your printer will not turn off. My best advice would be to unplug it from the wall and let it sit unplugged for a minute or two.

  Try turning the power on to the top and see if this is useful, and if you can feed it to the wide by the power button.
