  operating system windows 7. problem started dec 5th 2011 cannot receive e-mail through my msn Inbox explore. only junk emails work. and that's all that I receive every day I did everything from reformatting his hard drive to delete msn Explorer and then re install. • Cannot receive e-mails from the 31.7.0 updated (worked before and nothing has changed).

  Have 2 comcast email accounts. 5 days ago, that both has ceased to receive emails through Thunderbird on my laptop. They work on the comcast site. As if by magic one of the email accounts started getting yesterday - no problem.

  The other is still "stuck" and DO NOT receive emails via Thunderbird on my laptop; I can send emails without problem. Of course, it's my main email account. Comcast checked the settings and could find no problem on their end. Gave me that a number of their center of insurance of security but so far cannot get them to take my call. sigh seems strange to work and the other does not; essentially same settings for both.

• BlackBerry 8330 smartphones cannot receive e-mail from the ISP

  I tried and tried to set up my own domain mail server to receive e-mail. I even picked up the phone to Sprint and they tried, but we are unable to read incoming messages. Sending works fine.

  I think that I followed it to down to the fact that I use the mail server's 'pop' in the name if the Blackberry Internet Service thinks its an IMAP4 e-mail account, it is not. My server name is "mondomaine.fr", without mail or pop in front of the name. I can't understand how to change this setting advanced since the Blackberry or on the site of Sprint, even though I see the setting as IMAP4.

  Any ideas?

  It turns out that the firewall on my Blackberry settings were set to block all messages from BIS. I had removed the battery because of a condition of hanging a few months ago, and I guess that this reset that firewall setting. If I wasn't a geek, I never would have figured this out and Sprint and this forum was no help at all.

  Thought I'd know others where they have the same problem. You need to go to Options > Security Options > firewall > and look for the check mark next to Blackberry Internet Service and uncheck the box. Then save. E-mail started downhill a few minutes.

  Who is your email provider? Mine is Qwest, and they have many ways to communicate with them, including a hotline.

  I upgraded last night at el Capitan and welcomes most of my programs work. Who would have guessed that I would not be able to receive my personal e-mail? The settings are good. I can also receive mail business through the Web site account. Error message says it can't authenicate personal email. Why not??

  I am able to receive my personal email on my iPad but not on my iMac 2009. Have used the utility disk and CleanMyMac3. No errors. Email is online on RoadRunner, so the problem is on the computer and it seems with El Capitan. Any suggestions of what to do next?

  There are three main types of e-mail account: Exchange, IMAP and pop. Is what type?

  If you are unsure, open Mail's preferences window, select the tab accounts and then select the account in the list on the left. Under account information, the account type is indicated.

  It is quite possible that maintenance is really underway.

  You try to access your Hotmail account with a web browser (Internet Explorer) or a program e-mail Client on your computer (such as Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail)?

  If you use a mail Client program, it is configured to download messages from the server pop3.live.com, or is it configured to synchronize with the HTTP server athttp://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/sync.aspx?

  Slightly update of what Gerry posted.

  Error number: 0x800C0133 = a corrupt Inbox.

  Move any message you want to save to a local folder that you create. Then, remove the problem of Inbox as follows.

  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

  In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

  With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and delete it. Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

  General precautions for Outlook Express:

  Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

  After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

  Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

  Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes.   This looks like a problem with Yahoo.  I would suspect that your settings are incorrect, but if you haven't changed anything, it is probably just a temporary server problem. I would like to restart your computer to be sure.

  Try this. Assuming you use Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail. If you aren't the case, ignore this response.

  Open Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail > tools > accounts > select your account of gwi > properties > servers.

  If you have a " logon using clear text authentication " option,click it > click OK
