Cannot share anything through Windows Media Center

Original title:

Xbox Extender issues

I have a new Dell Inspiron N5110 and a new Xbox 360 Slim 4 GB.

I use a Belkin router.  My computer is wireless, but the Xbox is connected directly to the router.
If I open network files, I can see the Xbox; However, I still can't share anything through Windows Media Center.
I tried to manipulate ports, firewall, sharing of configurations, but nothing seems to register.
Any suggestions?
Hello
What happens when you try to share whatever it is Windows Media Center files? You receive an error message?
Step 1:
You can check if you have connected the device accordingly:
Set up Windows Media Center on the Xbox 360 (Windows 7)
Step 2:
You can try the steps in the following article and see if that makes a difference:
Error: Session Terminated (when connecting a console Xbox 360 to a computer running Windows Media Center)
You can visit the following links and check if it works:

  • Windows Media Center cannot sync/set up with AT & T UVERSE

Windows Media Center cannot configure/sync with my cable TV box. ((See system put in place/info below)

I spent about 10 hours trying to solve this problem.  Tried every way Windows Media Center allows you to configure, automatic, manual (tried all listed codes), IR remote learning. I searched the web, talked with HP technical support for more than 3 hours, talked with Motorola, ATT UVERSE, someone seems to have a solution.  Based on troubleshooting, I have it so far, I'm a 90 + % sure it's soley configuration of Windows Media Center TV of UVERSE problem of decoder.

I can get a TV signal on the computer through Windows Media Center and get my cable TV box to make it work, but it's as close as possible. The remote control works, all connections are correct, IR blaster or transponder is located correctly on my TV receiver.

In the IR remote control learn installation manual configuration (I think this is one of the two) or Windows Media Center asks you to press and hold the "0" on your remote decoder, pointing to your receiver IR from PC.  When I press on it it seems to answer by saying to continue to hold then it ask you to release what I'm doing, then I get an error message.  It is the closest, I learned to operate.  I tried a few tricks/variations on this that I found on this site and others, but not luck.

Another question the image that I get, but cannot control with Windows Media Center is of very poor quality (worse than a bad cell phone video on youtube), I guess that's more hardware related issue, but I had a machine good enough speced. Also, there is a time delay major and variable (4-5 seconds) between the time you press a button on the decoder TV and you see the answer on the machine, which makes it very difficult to operate.

I keep trying to stay on the PC band wagon, but of course, the other side seems to be much less difficult to get simple things to work.

    Anyadvice is appreciated.

    Hello

I searched a bit a found out that Vista Media Center supports clean audio codecs.
Eventually he s an audio codec problem, who knows

    See this page:

This tool allows you to change the codec s; audio and video.

In addition, you can try to update the audio driver also, but I m not very good if it will help, but it s worth a try!

How can I transfer (copy or cut) a .img file of Medis Center window? There is not a transfer function that I can find.

    Hi Mcr5962,

    ·         What operating system is installed on the computer?

You can use the Viewer Windows photo to open photos or images. Windows Media Center does not support the .img file and cannot be opened with Windows Media Center.

View and use your pictures in Windows Photo Viewer

  • Playing old consoles by windows media center

I'm trying to play my NES, SNES and N64, through Windows Media Center. It works, but there is a mismatch between touch me on the controllers and actions. I understand that video playback to watch TV Live has a similar shift, because if, while watching TV, I unplug my coaxial cable, the TV show will continue to run for a few seconds. Media Center does not appear to be all that much of customizable options that I see, so I wonder if there's some way to make sure that this delay is not there, ideas?

    Hello PTrev.

There is not much that can be made to this topic.  The GAL, as you see, is because the computer must convert the analog signal into MPEG or another digital video codec, it can appear on the screen and do all his fancy stuff recording.  Even the type of equipment they use for television still gives a delay of a second or two.

  • Running and Xbox 360 via Windows Media Center

Hello, I am a new student of college, and because my funds are limited I am using my Xbox 360 via my PC monitor. When I bought my computer, I got also a HDTV Tuner with composite video options. Through their software, I could connect my xbox and see it, but I was wondering if there was a way I could do it through Windows Media Center or something similar. I saw that there is a cable that goes from the Xbox to VGA, but I think that there will be problems with the sound (where I have the red/white audio cables?). Not sure if there is a converter or not, but like I said before, funds are limited. Thanks for all your help and I look forward to hear from someone as soon as possible.

    Tyler Campbell

    Hey TechTyler,

Since you have only one monitor and want to connect your PC and X - Box for the same monitor, I suggest that you try to find a separator that would help you get out of the XBox and the PC. You can use one of those to get the result on the same monitor of 2 devices. Who would use a VGA cable to connect 2 devices. You will be able to switch between your PC and the X - Box.You can try to search separator you can use to connect two monitors. I hope this information helps.

However, we at microsoft do not recommend or suggest one of these, you will need to use them at your own risk.

    Thank you

  • Windows Media Center has not worked since the storm (Windows Vista)

I have Windows Vista with Windows Media Center (which I LOVE!) through this huge dish on our House, but we had a big thunderstorm last week. Since then, I have been unable to get most of the channels to watch TV via Windows Media Center. I know that it is not a problem with my antenna because if I choose to watch TV directly through the air and not through Windows Media Center, I receive channels without problem. Any help would be great! (PS, I know almost NOTHING re: computers, so you'll really have to "dummy down" your answers to me). Thank you!

Just a guess here, I don't have a tuner currently in my computer. But is there an option in media center to perform a channel SCAN. On my TV, I had a similar problem and all I had to do was rescan and VIOLA all my channels were back!

    Good luck!

  • Netflix no longer works in Windows Media Center

    Hello!

Recently (a week ago) my Netflix stopped working through Windows Media Center.  When I try to start the Netflix app in WMC, I just get the message 'there is a problem with the application.  Try again later. »

I reinstalled Netflix in WMC, update of Silverlight, and yet, it does not solve the problem.  However, on some other user accounts on my computer it works fine again.  I don't know what to do.

    Help?

I started having exactly the same problem a couple of days. The only thing that I did is to install Visual Studio 2010 and Silverlight 4. Since Netflix is a Silverlight application, I'm guessing this has something to do with it. Upgrade Silverlight this week?

Now I'll uninstall Netflix in Windows Media Center and Silverlight 4, and then reinstall Netflix in Windows Media Center. If this solves the problem, I'll report back.

Update : I have uninstalled both in the order above. Then I ran the Media Center and clicked on Netflix. It prompted me to reinstall the Netflix player, that I let him. As soon as it was over, I have connected and managed to go my instant queue (it wouldn't let me do it before).

Then, I tried to look at something and was motivated I need Silverlight. I let it install, knowing that Silverlight 4 is now current. However, he installed Silverlight 3.0.50106.0 . Now he can play very well, however.

Update #2: I closed Windows Media Center and went to http://www.silverlight.net. Here, I chose "Windows Runtime" in the box "Install Silverlight". This updated my system for Silverlight 4.0.50401.0 . I started Windows Media Center, choose something in my instant queue and began to watch.

So, my conclusion is that maybe it was a problem with Silverlight all along. Try to uninstall Silverlight on your system and put it back in place, starting from silverlight.net, or let the Netflix player to do it for you.

  • Low Audio when using Windows Media Center

Hello world.  I have a question.  When I play a movie DVD or CD or anything audio Windows Media Center on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition.  The Audio output is always half of what it is in other programs.

For example.  When I play music with windows media player, I let my volume of the speaker to about 2.5.  If I play a DVD movie on my computer, I put the volume on the speakers until about 5 # in order to hear the movie.  Then when I return to windows media player volume is very strong (of course because I turned it upward).

I checked all the audio properties (on the PC under windows), but I can't seem to get the audio level as well as the rest of the Windows Media Center computer?

No one knows what it wrong here?

    Thank you

    Hi karozans,

    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com

Make sure the appropriate selections are made in the DVD settings and codecs are correct for the file that is being read...

This is a lot of information on Windows Media Center, and the second link is information about the codecs.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/FAQ/codec.mspx

There are many different CODECS out there and search online, using your favorite search engine like www.live.com to "VISTA CODEC PACKS" can find the codec that you need to improve the sound on the videos that are currently playing.  When the right codec also be determine some codec download from a reliable source as the codecs are not created by Microsoft and can be obtained by a third party.

Please let us know if there is more need information on this issue, or if you do not download the correct codec for the system and the problem persists, please post this information in the forum as well.

  • Can not find videos in Windows Media Center

Hi, I have a problem acsessing the video files through Windows Media center. I play through my Xbox earlier today, so I know for sure that this is not a mistake of the codex or something like that. If I find videos under libraries of all the videos I want are listed and they are listed in Windows Media Player, but when I go into Windows Media Center can only be folders that are empty. I am using windows 7 by the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    It solved!
To listen on that when I uninstalled Nero in the morning, he has deleted the. Details of registry AVI.

Re-install, and you're on your way! (At least for me.)
