  • Cannot start from the CD in my Satellite P300-23F

    Hello

I'm trying to fix the old laptop from my brother. It's a Toshiba satellite p300-23f. The laptop did not work well, so he bought another. I think he might have a problem with the HARD drive, but I'm not sure about this and want to try to format the HARD drive and reinstall the operating system.

When I start from the disc HARD I have no problem, insiders of OS normally, and I can 'use' laptop. The problem is when I try to boot from the OS CD. I get this message "Media test failure, check cable". I know the CD works, because recently I have instaled the operating system with this CD on another computer. I know that the CD player (not sure if it is called like this, but I think you understand what I mean) also works very well, because I tried different CD and it worked.

I've tried pressing F12 and boot from CD it and also tried to change the BIOS and put the CD in the first place, but it does not work.

No idea what's going on? Is it possible to make it work?

    Stand by.
When Windows is completely loaded, you can use the optical disk drive and it reads all CDs and DVDs?
When you put your Windows Windows installation disc can see the contents of the disc in Windows Explorer?

Maybe you can use the CD but not DVD. check it out please.

  • Re: Satellite L310 - cannot start from the HARD disk

    Hello

My L310 just died on me yesterday. My system just can not start, not even in Safe Mode. And it keeps trying to start using my network card, not through hard drive.

I put the BIOS default settings, but it does not help.

And she has this tone to loud continuous beep when it tries to start using the network card. A continuous beep, even on the screen of the BIOS and in safe mode.

I chose the hard drive manually, but he keeps trying to start through the network adapter.

And the laptop does not meet the keyboard. Even with a keyboard external usb. When I sometimes managed to boot my system on the rare occasion, I get to the login screen and cannot button my password.

    Does anyone have similar problems?

    Let me know. Thank you!

Looks like your HARD drive is defective. BIOS recognize it?
You should test the disk with Drive Fitness Test. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT

Check this box and give us feedback. Maybe the HARD drive needs to be replaced.

On the keyboard issue it is not easy to say what are the causes of the problem, but in the worst case that he should be replaced also. :(

  • URGENT! Cannot start from the HP recovery discs.

I am facing a problem weired with the help of HP recovery disks (ordered from HP).
HP drives are bootable, I checked on another desktop not HP. My Pavilion cannot boot from HP discs, but it starts on the other Windows 7 bootable disk. Even this drive gives me the error to the expansion of the files windows to 52%. It says failed to load the driver for the drive and asks me to select the drivers, so I inserted the disc Driver from HP, but it says nothing found.

I tried to use HP discs after, whole HARD drive then create 100 MB system reserved partition (NTFS), 100 GB NTFS for the C drive for installation of Win; but still no luck. After selecting CD/DVD in the start menu, the continuous cursor to blink on the left corner for a few 10s of seconds and the system reboots without any messages.

When I tried with Linux Mint 14 KDE startup disk, it installed smoothly without any mistakes and right now, I'm using Linux.

So this is a strange problem where I can't decide what thing is defective; If my reader DVD, DVD or my Pavilion. But all work to differnet scenarios. Please suggest a solution if you know.

    Help, please!

    Thank you!

Hello, I'm trying about three days why my laptop do not show me the CD option in the Boot Menu (F9).

I need to reinstal my windows (8) and I don't really have the time to find a USB key (I don't have in any case..), so I have to do for the CD to start windows.

I don't really understand why it doesn't, after all, it worked the first time when I instaled windows 8.

I'm looking online for the solution, but I can not find the USB solution. This isn't a solution for me I need to install CD... What happens if I put in shape all-> them my disk partition (up to drive local C will remove a part of windows and it will colapse...) then will probably be to boot from the CD?

Secure boot it is disabled in the BIOS (in any case, he let me to him allow for). Legacy Boot, I tried with her, turn on and off, I have not seen a chage.

    Thank you

  • Home CD not active - WinXP virtual system - cannot start from the CD to install WinXP

I'm new to this product, although I used vmware customer a while back on a Windows System.

    I have a P4-24 base system. G Intel chipset with new CD/DVD IDE burners/readers.

These are both on IDE1 and nothing is on IDE2

I have two drives SATA WD120G who are the active disks.

ESXi 3.5 installed OK and I can create a virtual machine using the VMware Infracstructure customer.

When I start the client machine I have CD/DVD host will start the Windows XP CD, but it fails

to do so. I tried the option to use the client CD started the power upward, but so far I can not install the WinXP operating system

on the virtual machine. I even unplugged of the DVD to limit the scope, but that made no difference.

It's almost as if the virtual machine cannot find the CD/DVD drive.

    Can someone suggest a resolution?

I never use physical media (do not say that it does not work) - I use the ISO. I find in situations like yours is to mount the iso for the virtual machine outside the parameters of the virtual machine - simplest method, you will see an option to connect to cd/dvd in the menu in the VI client.

Another thing - you will need to connect a flp buslogic image to a floppy drive so that the XP VM can see the buslogic controller (so you can see the hard drive) for installation of the operating system.

http://virtrix.blogspot.com/2007/09/vmware-installing-windows-xp-on-esx.html - this link also has a buslogic.

If you find that you don't have enough time to interact with the menu of the loader boot - set a delay at startup in the settings of the virtual machine to 5000ms - this will give you 5 seconds.

    I hope this helps.

  • Cannot start from the CD on Satellite L10

Hi, I had several problems during the last two weeks with my Toshiba laptop. I decided to back up all my files and use the recovery disk to erase everything. I put in the disc and then changed the BIOS so that the CD/DVD drive was the first. (I hope, Toshiba L10 and "Utilities" CD series tools, is the right disc)

It just loaded windows as normal and I can not seem to get the startup disk. If you have any advice for me please answer as soon as possible.

    Thanks in advance :) Ashley

    Hello

You must find the Toshiba Recovery CD. On this CD, you will find the image completely with Windows and all Toshiba drivers and utilities.
From this CD you must boot to install the new OS.

Other CDs contain only the software, drivers and utilities you can find on the page of the Toshiba driver.

  • The CyberLink Powerdvd software cannot download from the download at Dell factory installed software page.

I wanted to try an improved version of Powerdvd from Cyberlink and when I downloaded the software Powerdvd 13 he mentioned to removed the previous software, I did.

I decided that I didn't want Powerdvd 13 and went to the Dell website to retrieve my download pre-installed software (I did before without any problems), however, today I received an error message (see attachment).

I was wondering if there is a way to get the Powerdvd which was pre loaded on my Alienware R4 I bought in July 2012?

    Thank you

    Hi GGCAN,

The support site is having some problems. I suggest to try again today. If it still does not respond, please contact Dell customer service and try to talk to them by sending you a CD.

I'm not a fan of PowerDVD and it dropped in favour of VLC Media Player. Its only limitation is that he doesn't play blu - ray movies, but it will play DVDs fine.

    Hi, Leon,

Always include computer make and model, please.  Thank you.

Research in the Bios (reboot and press F1 or F2 depending on your system, check that all usb options are enabled (for example, USB legacy or support for USB 2.0 devices).)

If there is a timeout parameter, set it to Max.

Then, find the boot device priority section

A USB flash drive, which is usually listed as USB - HDD, but may be listed as a removable device, will have a priority very low start.

Rearrange the boot device priority so that the flash drive has a higher priority than the hard drive.

Install Windows XP from USB key

    • Insert the USB key into the USB port on the computer.

    • Open the "I386" folder and find the file "Winnt.exe".

Double-click on the "Winnt.exe" to launch a command prompt BACK to an installation of Windows XP.

Type the path of the location of your "I386" folder in the DOS window. For example, if your USB is the letter "D" in your "My Computer" window, type "d:\i386" without the quotes and press the Enter"" key.

Let the installation program copy the Windows XP installation files on your computer.

Restart your computer to a command prompt. The Windows XP Setup will continue automatically.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. The program will ask you your Windows XP product key in this process.
