Cannot start from the CD: Error Code 5. __Asking driver primary IDE channel.

I install a new copy of windows 7 on my old computer. My computer have no major problems from Advisor Windows 7 report. When I get to the part on which partition to install I got the message to load a driver. He asks me to load a driver for the MAIN IDE CHANNEL. I have search on Intel, Gigabyte and other internet sites but have not found a specific driver.
My computer is:
Processor Intel P4 1.7Ghz
15 GB OF RAM
GeForce 7600GS
320 GB IDE HARD DRIVE
Card mother Gigabyte GA-8ITX3
Intel 820 Chipset family with 82801BA (ICH2) I/O controller.

Help, please!

P.S. noticed that 2Angel had a similar problem but no solution.

Error code 5 - can't boot from DVD

Some people have reported that from the installation of Windows 7 so that Windows XP/Vista is running can help with this error. Update your BIOS may also help.

Here is a workaround that can also help:

  • Cannot start from the CD in my Satellite P300-23F

    Hello

I'm trying to fix the old laptop from my brother. It's a Toshiba satellite p300-23f. The laptop did not work well, so he bought another. I think he might have a problem with the HARD drive, but I'm not sure about this and want to try to format the HARD drive and reinstall the operating system.

When I start from the disc HARD I have no problem, insiders of OS normally, and I can 'use' laptop. The problem is when I try to boot from the OS CD. I get this message "Media test failure, check cable". I know the CD works, because recently I have instaled the operating system with this CD on another computer. I know that the CD player (not sure if it is called like this, but I think you understand what I mean) also works very well, because I tried different CD and it worked.

I've tried pressing F12 and boot from CD it and also tried to change the BIOS and put the CD in the first place, but it does not work.

No idea what's going on? Is it possible to make it work?

  • Firefox does not start after the upgrade: error code 2324

I updated Firefox on my desktop running Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit). Installer stub downloads and works through the installation, but does not automatically start Firefox. If I click on the link in the task bar, nothing happens. Same thing with that pinned to the start menu. Hello

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

  • Satellite A200 - cannot boot from the recovery disc - code 1

I have Vista business and my laptop is running slow and is full of rubbish.
I have in the past used my drive recovery to completely re - install vista and start from a fresh version.

However, I tried this once and it says that it cannot boot from cd - code 1.

Can someone tell me what it is and how to reinstall vista?

    Hmm. strange.
Are you sure you have the right recovery disk?
Are you abele to boot using another drive as MS Win XP CD or Linux CD bootable?

  • URGENT! Cannot start from the HP recovery discs.

I am facing a problem weired with the help of HP recovery disks (ordered from HP).
HP drives are bootable, I checked on another desktop not HP. My Pavilion cannot boot from HP discs, but it starts on the other Windows 7 bootable disk. Even this drive gives me the error to the expansion of the files windows to 52%. It says failed to load the driver for the drive and asks me to select the drivers, so I inserted the disc Driver from HP, but it says nothing found.

I tried to use HP discs after, whole HARD drive then create 100 MB system reserved partition (NTFS), 100 GB NTFS for the C drive for installation of Win; but still no luck. After selecting CD/DVD in the start menu, the continuous cursor to blink on the left corner for a few 10s of seconds and the system reboots without any messages.

When I tried with Linux Mint 14 KDE startup disk, it installed smoothly without any mistakes and right now, I'm using Linux.

So this is a strange problem where I can't decide what thing is defective; If my reader DVD, DVD or my Pavilion. But all work to differnet scenarios. Please suggest a solution if you know.

    Help, please!

    Thank you!

  • Re: Satellite L310 - cannot start from the HARD disk

    Hello

My L310 just died on me yesterday. My system just can not start, not even in Safe Mode. And it keeps trying to start using my network card, not through hard drive.

I put the BIOS default settings, but it does not help.

And she has this tone to loud continuous beep when it tries to start using the network card. A continuous beep, even on the screen of the BIOS and in safe mode.

I chose the hard drive manually, but he keeps trying to start through the network adapter.

And the laptop does not meet the keyboard. Even with a keyboard external usb. When I sometimes managed to boot my system on the rare occasion, I get to the login screen and cannot button my password.

    Does anyone have similar problems?

    Let me know. Thank you!

Looks like your HARD drive is defective. BIOS recognize it?
You should test the disk with Drive Fitness Test. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT

Check this box and give us feedback. Maybe the HARD drive needs to be replaced.

On the keyboard issue it is not easy to say what are the causes of the problem, but in the worst case that he should be replaced also. :(

What happens if I put in shape all-> them my disk partition (up to drive local C will remove a part of windows and it will colapse...) then will probably be to boot from the CD?

  • Satellite M40 - cannot boot from the recovery cd after format HARD drive

    Hello

After my Satellite M40 - 133 being affected by the virus of security internet I had to wipe my hard drive. The virus wouldn't let me do anything, boot without failure or system restore. I wiped the disk and it still wouldn't load up. That's why I had to do a full erase of the disk including the hidden partition.

After doing his now do not let my boot from the CD of restoration as it says invalid partition as his search for files that must be on the hidden partition. What can I do to get it started. I'm not bothered about to recover anything on the disc. If I remove the hard drive and put the recovery cd in, it excludes the disc and begins to start until he fails to see the hard drive.

Outwardly I can link the drive to another pc and he sees it as a storage device so I'm glad that there is nothing wrong with the hard ware - help please

    Hello

Can you see the HARD drive with all the details in the BIOS?
If this isn't the case, then this means that the HARD drive is faulty or not fully compatible.
If you can see the HARD drive in the BIOS, then this means that the HARD drive is compatible.

But this should not affect booting from a bootable CD.
Even if the HD would not be recognized in the BIOS, you should be able to boot from the CD. For example a live Linux CD has not only any disk HARD because the BONE would not be installed on the HARD drive, but it loads into RAM.

The question is; Why you are unable to boot from any CD?
Maybe the discs are scratched or the CD/DVD drive cannot read the disc more because of problems of laser lens
If possible, try to copy/burn the Windows CD using another computer, and then try to start using the copied disc.

  • Portege M205-S810 - cannot start from the CD

The hard drive on my Portege M205-S810 doctors went belly up recently and I replaced it for her.

I found one on Ebay for $55. Should have known it was too good to be true.

The key is that I can't start the recovery disc to load xp on the new drive.
Is it possible to work around this problem, or am I just GROUND?

  • Home CD not active - WinXP virtual system - cannot start from the CD to install WinXP

I'm new to this product, although I used vmware customer a while back on a Windows System.

    I have a P4-24 base system. G Intel chipset with new CD/DVD IDE burners/readers.

These are both on IDE1 and nothing is on IDE2

I have two drives SATA WD120G who are the active disks.

ESXi 3.5 installed OK and I can create a virtual machine using the VMware Infracstructure customer.

When I start the client machine I have CD/DVD host will start the Windows XP CD, but it fails

to do so. I tried the option to use the client CD started the power upward, but so far I can not install the WinXP operating system

on the virtual machine. I even unplugged of the DVD to limit the scope, but that made no difference.

It's almost as if the virtual machine cannot find the CD/DVD drive.

    Can someone suggest a resolution?

I never use physical media (do not say that it does not work) - I use the ISO. I find in situations like yours is to mount the iso for the virtual machine outside the parameters of the virtual machine - simplest method, you will see an option to connect to cd/dvd in the menu in the VI client.

Another thing - you will need to connect a flp buslogic image to a floppy drive so that the XP VM can see the buslogic controller (so you can see the hard drive) for installation of the operating system.

http://virtrix.blogspot.com/2007/09/vmware-installing-windows-xp-on-esx.html - this link also has a buslogic.

If you find that you don't have enough time to interact with the menu of the loader boot - set a delay at startup in the settings of the virtual machine to 5000ms - this will give you 5 seconds.

    I hope this helps.
