  I tested the trial version CS6 Photoshop Extended and after its expiration, I bought "Photoshop CS6 subscription edition (monthly publication)". I downloaded and installed. Now, when I start it, all I see is the "trial expiré" - window.

  I could finally solve the problem with the help of support Adobe. For everyone with the same problem:

  1. Uninstall Photoshop.

  2 delete the following files (replace "in the program" with the Program files - your language):

  "C:\Program (x 86) \Common Files\Adobe\caps\"caps.db.

  "C:\Program (x 86) \Common Files\Adobe\backup\"caps.db.

  "C:\Program (x 86) \Common Files\Adobe\caps\"media_db.db.

  C:\Program (x 86) \Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\ "pcd.db"

  "C:\Program (x 86) \Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\cache\"cache.db ".

  3. re-download and reinstall Photoshop.

  4. start Photoshop and log in with your Adobe ID.

  After having spent half a day on the Adobe forum and chat to support online Adobe, no solution has been found. Finally figured it on mine. I went to the Microsoft site and downloaded the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 update 4 for x 86 and x 64. When the download is complete, click on the exe file. It will ask you if you want to repair or uninstall. Click on repair.

  After the repair, Photoshop CC 2014 starts normal. Hope it will work for you as well.

  I would say that a slow and small system will hinder the performance, but it shouldn't really be things to stall for minutes at a time.  I guess you could be using his RAM and going virtual...  Is the hard drive on more or less constantly when this happens?

  That said, I have an old laptop with similar specs that you describe, and I wouldn't dream of trying to get real work done in a modern version of Photoshop on this system.

  You've spent hundreds of dollars on the new software.  It's probably time to move to a modern operating under a modern operating system computer.

  Because you cannot start Photoshop, you cannot change the allocation of work disk in preferences.

  Fortunately for you, the engineers designed a shortcut to fix that: hold down CTRL + ALT (PC) / CMD + OPTION (Mac) starts as soon as Photoshop to get this menu:

  

  Select a different drive with more space, but don't forget the cleaning of files cluttering your hard drive, as described in other posts.

  Did you remove the database of the PLUGS as shown in step 2 of the linked document John Waller? In general, this solves the problem.

  If uninstalling, deleting and reinstalling CAPS do not work, please visit this discussion forum where users with a similar problem discuss possible corrections: Adobe photoshop cs5 extended error installation (Mac); Inconsistency in the database of the installation program. It's an old NET, but it can be useful.

  Photoshop cs6 worm. 13.0 guard returning to starting on a screen indicating that my "Photoshop extended trail" has expired. Adobe coming up with a fix or a solution yet?   Extended and standard are the same code - you do not have to uninstall or reinstall.  The only difference is the serial number.

  Everything you have to do is turn off your standard copy (remove the serial number), then reactive with serial number for extended.
