Cannot turn off my computer because it shows 'Stop Down Windows Update Service.'

Original title: Closing Windows problem - Sony VAIO *.

Dear Microsoft,

I have Windows 7 Ultimate on a Sony VAIO VPCEB1S0E.  I had a problem of closure.

When I press Shut Down, he repeats to me 'Shutting Down'.  He never stops.  I had worked on a project until 23:00.  I closed everything and click Shut Down.  The next day I awoke to find my cell phone always gives me the Shutting Downmessage.

I searched on google and then edited a file in the registry.  I think I found a problem.  Now when I turn it on, it says Preparation Office rather than Welcome.  And when it stops, he repeats to me Shutting Down Service Windows Update.  A minute later, it says Configuration Windows. Do not connect the power supply or Shut Down.  These are not the exact words.

Each time, I've been force judgment of my laptop.  One day, I came across a message in the lower right of my screen saying that this copy of Windows is not genuine...  Finally, I managed to resolve the issue with 'Chkdsk '.

I do not take any more risks. so now, I'm watching my laptop each time rather than Shut it Down.

I did a clean boot, about 4 days ago.  Then, I opened "msconfig" and all compatible services.  And click on restart.  That really worked.  Without stopping Force, which actually stop and restart.  Well, maybe it was a coincidence that it won't happen again.

I opened Windows Update and tried to install the latest updates.  Which failed.  He couldn't find new updates.  Could this be my antivirus blocking access?  I have Avast Internet Security.

It would be GREAT if the problem can be solved

Thank you!

  • Cannot turn off (stolen computer)

My laptop was stolen just. Now it has been installed a copy of After Effects CS5. I still have the original boxed, which served to make installation on the missing machine. Now when I try to reinstall AE on a new machine, I get a message saying that I have reached my limit of activation (a colleague uses the other seat) and he forbade me to activate.

When I connect to my Adobe account, I see that AE is still listed under my registered products, but there is no obvious way to disable without having access to my computer stolen.

I saw mixed signals on how to do about this, or if it is indeed still possible:

I installed them and restarting my PC, he has said configuration Windows Updates... Do not turn off your computer. It is immediately followed by updates default Windows configuration . Visa update problem

After trying to install the updates.  my computer is now stuck in constant reboot mode while showing "Configuring updates 3 of 3 0%, do not turn off your computer.  I tried to follow the instructions provided here because it seemed to be the same problem.  But when I restart and hold down the F8 key so I can boot into safe mode, I tried selecting safe mode and I get the same results, and I tried again by selecting the option 'Disable automatic reboot' which seems to be an option on the same page with the option of safe mode.  Whatever it is, the same message comes back and I can never get to where I can see my desktop to click 'start '.  I can't get out of this cycle.  I installed the update because it said I needed to install it.

Turn off your computer by holding the power button for about 20 seconds.

Start your computer in safe mode: press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure:

    • Click Start
    • Click on Control Panel
    • Click on system and Maintenance link.
    • Click on the system link
    • In the left pane, click Advanced system settings
    • Locate the startup and recovery area, click the settings button.
    • In the startup and recovery window, uncheck the box next to automatically restart.
    • Click OK in the startup and recovery window
    • Click OK in the System Properties window
    • Close the system window

After that... While STAYING in safe mode I do a system restore and maybe try a manual install of the update later.

For the sake of space I refer you to the article about how to proceed.

However, we have not the deactivate option available in the drop down aid. Disabling is visible on another desktop computer. You can't do that. If you have a license for Windows, you can not use it on a Mac.

In addition, Acrobat 9 is obsolete and is not compatible with any current operating system (including Windows 8, which is said by the way).
