Cannt sharing printer or files?

I just baught a new WRT54G2 and crossed the CD set up to get all the work and now I can't share my printer which is connected to my desktop via a connection of rigid cable to the router, my laptop that connect wirelessly to the router. I know that the first place you would jusp for this solution is my firewall. Let me answer that question by saying that I have a belking wireless router which worked great until power took a shit and the router didn't functiond longer. I'm not changing a computer or the modem settings between remove the belkin and linksys development, but now, with the linksys installed, I can not share files or the printer more with any computer on the network. This problem must be the wireless linksys router but I do not know what. Can someone help me understand this? I should also add that I removed the linksys and again installed the belkin and files and printers could be shared again!

I've now changed on this Linksys router for the last time. My file sharing worked for two days and now it's back to no sharing at all. I can't ping any computer on my network, even if the router is their assignment of intellectual property. I also started to meet with internet access. Every day, for the last week, my internet would drop and I thought it was my ISP, so I started calling and checking my modem, to see that all I had to do was reset the Linksys router every time it happened to solve the problem. I hope Linksys gets it stuff back together soon. In the meantime, I have purchaced the old model, with that I started and haave had absolutely no problems with it yet.

Thank you all who have tried to help me, but it turns out it was hardware problems.

  • driver problem sharing printer attached to the XP with Windows 7 pc client

Before submitting my question, I look into responses to something that would be useful. There were some similar issues, but neither the same as mine.

    I have a desktop pc XP/SP3 with a Canon IP4600 USB printer.

So far, I got a home network wired (through an ethernet switch) with another XP desktop PC 2, which the shared printer successfully.

Now, I replaced the ethernet switch with a wireless router that I have to also connect at least 1 laptop to network without cables more.

The laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I successfully setup the network wireless router/Win7 so machine Win7 has access to the Web. I can also see the shared folders on the XP Win7 pc and can also see the IP4600 printer.

When I try to add the printer so that I can print in Win7, it fails because it has no driver. I do not have a Win7 driver for this printer on each machine, so I downloaded it from the Canon Website on the Win7 pc. This is a huge 55MB EXE file zipped (must be a bunch of other 'apps' there, too, may not only be a pilot). The "Add printer" procedure looking for one. File INF so he does not see this file downloaded to extract the driver. When I run the EXE file, it starts a procedure facility, which quickly fails and leaves because he "cannot find the printer" (because it is physically on the XP pc...).

Please help me get a Win7 driver installed. I need to print from the Win7 pc quite urgent...

    Thanks in advance.

Canon is making things difficult for you.  Hidden in the small print that describing 55MO download is as follows.

This software is a module that extends the functionality of the printer driver for Canon inkjet printers. Your printer must be installed through Microsoft Update before you download and use this module.

In other words, downloading isn't actually the driver.  It is an update of the driver.

I don't have my Win 7 computer pulled upward at the moment, but when you get to the part of the Add Printer Wizard when you specify the brand and model of the printer to select a driver, make sure you check the box at the bottom of the list to allow the search on Windows Update Wizard.  Well with XP, it was a bad idea to get drivers through Windows Update, it seems that many drivers, including printer drivers, do not appear on the install of Win 7 media but is available through Windows Update.

Another part of the process that I vaguely remember last time I installed a shared printer on a Win 7 box, is that if you select "add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer" the wizard cannot find the shared printer.  In this case, use the "Local printer" option and specify its address in the form \\computername\sharename (if there are spaces in the name, use double quotes around it).

    ******************************************
This is what I was referring in the last paragraph:

    5. install printers on a local network
If the printer is on a network, you may need to indicate to the Add Printer Wizard that you install a local printer, use LPT 1 as it is connected to the port and then change the port setting when the driver is installed. To change the port, go to the dialog box printers and devices, right click on the name of the printer, and then choose Properties from the printer (not to be confused with the properties). Select the Ports tab and the Add Port button. In most cases, you'll want to select Standard TCP/IP Port, click New Port, and then work your way through the rest of the screen of the wizard, enter the IP address of the printer in the corresponding dialog box.

  • Network printer is recognized but does not command shared print

Just installed update of XP on the computer desktop and Vista on the laptop.  Everything goes well on XP computer but the printer that is installed and set apart as before, will not print from the laptop.  This is a Photosmart HP 7160 and on my list of printers.  It shows that a doc is sent to the printer, but it will not and does not show in the queue.

None of the "fixes" listed here or on the work of HP.

    Hi Marilynandav,

Follow the steps below and check if that helps you.

The name of the 32-bit driver is different from the name of 64-bit driver.  You create a Local Port which will basically copy the formatted print data from the part of xpmachine.

  • How to make a shared printer on a Windows 7 64-bit machine accessible to a user on a 32-bit XP machine.

    Hello

I have two Windows machines on a private working group, old stamp. A XP 32-bit, and a 64-bit Windows 7. The Windows 7 machine has a Canon printer attached. The problem is how to give the ability to print to the shared printer on the Windows 7 machine to a user on the XP machine.

After a day of p____g about, I managed to get the feel of XP machine for the shared printer when I'm logged on two machines. But there is a problem.

When my wife connects to the XP computer (instead of me), it can not print. His account apparently can 'See' the printer and everything seems to be in order when I discover the properties of the printer, but when it prints, it fails silently. There is no error; printing seems fine, but nothing happens. This happens if I print from Word, Notepad, or even simply the test page in the printer properties.

I have another printer shared from the Windows 7 machine, and it can print on it without problem.

The big problem is that I can't follow the 'normal' procedure to add a printer to the XP computer because it tries to install the drivers and then machine claims Windows 7 is not the correct drivers. This is true because the Canon Setup is fully automated and does not provide an option to install the 32-bit drivers alongside 64-bit drivers, so that customers can download.

Sorry for the length of this post, but I am here in desperation. I lost count of the number of Web sites, I've been to, who claims to have an answer to this problem, to see any of the steps fail. Many solutions rely on the use of residential groups, which I can't do because XP does not know these (I don't think).

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Kind wishes, Patrick

Check permissions to print on the XP machine (Fortunately, you have XP Pro):

    1. Disable Simple file so sharing is not off (in Windows Explorer > tools > Folder Options > view tab > uncheck "Use Simple file sharing" - low point in the list--> OK your way out)
    2. Start > printers and faxes
    3. Right click on the printer icon and select Properties
    4. Select the Security tab

You can see who has permissions to the printer.  By default, the "Everyone" group has 'print' permission but none of the other permissions related to printing.  If you want to add a group or an individual user, click the ' Add ' button.  See the following for more information: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/print_limit_accessw.mspx?mfr=true and the topics listed at the bottom of this page.

To determine if a user is in a group (for example, is the user who cannot print a member of the "Everyone" group), click Start, right-click my computer and select manage.

In the management console of the computer that opens, select "Local users and groups."  By double-clicking a user, you can select the "Member" tab and see what groups that user is a member.  Similarly, by double-clicking a group, you can see the members of this group.

How can I remove a shared link Public file?

Apparently, Ive clicked on the share icon and clicked the link public.

This means that the file (including sensitive information) was transferred to the internet? Where is he? What does the Public link? Can I get it back and I can remove them from the internet?

Or does this mean that Acrobat Reader Document Cloud, it was shared on my device?

BTW, I use a mobile Mobile Android, not on PD/computer / tablet.

    Please do advice which continues.

When you share a public link, the document is downloaded into the cloud of document so that users who receive the link can download the document.

However, it does not appear that you have completed the workflow (in fact sent a link to anyone) so it is unlikely that someone has seen the document. For instructions on sharing, see Adobe Acrobat Reader for Android help: print, share, e-mail.

If you has not sent the link to someone specifically through gmail or some other app (step 5 in the instructions), then no one, but you can view the document.

To remove the file from your personal cloud storage space, connect to https://cloud.acrobat.com/, go to file and delete the file.

A suitable workaround can be circumvent the printer software using some print to pdf add on such as:

  • scanning using a shared printer

Hello, I shared a printer to a network via Airport Extreme.  Nothing wrong with printing, but the problem is that I can't scan using the same printer.

Is there anyway to scan a document using a shared printer? If so, how?

    Thank you.

Scan is owner of all the trademarks so no USB device can provide a universal testing service.

When you say shared printer is it connected via USB... then it may never work.

If the printer has network and connected by ethernet or wireless, it is quite different... you just need the correct printer software.

WON'T. I speak NOT of the IMAGE being copied from a screen. This, of course, can be done by anyone. What I'm talking about you, is that FIREFOX, unlike all other browsers, ALLOWS you to print a PROTECTED PDF FILE complete. This should NOT be and this issue should NOT be closed and just brushed side because Mozilla has a MAJOR BUG in their software. Your program should be corrected in order to RESPECT the protection of a file and NOT allow it to be printed in its ENTIRETY.
