Card reader causes the crash

My system info: Acer laptop model 5050

: Win 7 x 64 (upgrade from Vista 32)

: 4 GB ram

: Device Info Manager: ENE PCI Secure Digital MMC card playback controller

: ENE PCI Memory Stick Card Reader Controller

: ENE PCI SmartMedia xD Card Reader Controller

My built in card reader worked fine with Vista. If I insert a card, it says to format the card, then it says Windows cannot format. I tried to update the drivers (3) automatically, but he claims they are up-to-date. Troubleshooting may not resolve problem. I tried to select an airline pilot and it crashed the computer immediately.

All the ideas!

Hello Herman,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand you have questions using the SD card reader on Windows 7 computer.

But I would like to know some more information on this issue to help you better.

(1) what is the brand and model of the computer?

(2) that you get an error message even if the computer breaks down?

(3) have you tried to use the card reader in Windows 7 computer?

In the meantime, please follow the following suggestions to solve the problem.

Method 1: Try running the Fixit described in the article, and check if that helps.

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows

http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us

Method 2: For accidents in the computer, follow the link below and see if that helps.

Crashes Windows or freezes

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2681286/en-us

Note: Data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means there is a risk of data loss.

Also refer to:

I hope this helps. Otherwise, feel free to write us again and we will be happy to help you.

  • Update Windows 7 breaks the card reader, causes random crashes

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A500/026 that came with Windows 7 64 bit. Recently, I found only one) the card reader no longer works, and b) just after startup, I get an error message indicating that a component of software from Toshiba is broken down. Both developed these symptoms after a Windows Update, but I can't be sure that one.

The card reader works OK if I start a live CD of Ubuntu, but do not work on Windows, so I guess the problem is with a Windows driver that has been "updated" during a Windows Update.
Is there a set of drivers Toshiba I have to re - install after a Windows Update, or should I just wait that Microsoft fixes whatever-they-broke in whichever-update-it-was-that-broke-it?
    Any other ideas?

    Leigh.

Try to reverse both previous OS using System Restore tool and see if this will fix the problem.
For Windows update use important updates only. Do not install the updates options.

Do back the OS first and send feedback.

    Hello

I have 3 articles on 14 that crashed the flash plugin in the producer of folio. I don't have any idea how to solve this. Any help would be SO appreciated! (The rest of the items in the folio don't give me no harm)

Do this, when I am updating in Indesign...

    Screen Shot 2012-11-13 at 1.19.53 PM.png

We have found and solved the problem and just need to focus on when it can be deployed safely. I'll follow up with good news when we made this decision, it should be soon.

In the meantime, try a solution for me? Follow the steps below to set the default list view in your application:

    1. Go to the Organizer Folio of the IU producer
    2. Open one of the folios which does not cause the behavior that is
    3. Switch to the display of the list (see image)
    4. Return to the Organizer
    5. Open folio that causes the crash

The bug is caused by a problem with thumbnail image rendering, so the display of the list shouldn't cause the same problems. Please let me know if it is of a useful workaround.

  • My PC detects that my Kingston card reader into the USB port but wont read SD card - why?

Several ports USB in my PC w/Windows XP see all my USB key and can read the data, but while "type" my Kingston card reader 4ports are recognized, it will not read the SD card. Why?

You should have installed service pack 3, a long time ago, but this probably isn't the cause of your immediate problem.  Until the last part of your response, I would say that you need to get a new card reader.  However, if the card reader works on another computer, something seems to be the issue.

What is the model of your Kingston card reader? It should appear on the label.

With the drive connected to a USB port, open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK).

Normally, you should see a number of entries in the category 'Disks' for the number of different locations in the card reader.  They probably will be named something like, "Kingston USB 2 HS-CF USB Device" and similar.  It should also have an entry in the "De Bus USB controllers" category that says "USB Mass Storage Device".

Check all the entries above.  If none of them display a warning icon (exclamation), double-click the entry and to report to what appears in "Device status" and "use of the device.

Right click on each of the entries corresponding to the card reader (i.e. one for each location in the hard drives category card reader and an in the category USB controllers USB mass storage device) and select uninstall.  After all, entries have been uninstalled, disconnect the player from the computer card and restart.  Now reconnect the card reader.  Windows should recognize and install it automatically.

NOTE: If you have a hard drive connected by USB, you must be careful that you uninstall the correct USB mass storage device.  The safest way to do this is to use the "Remove hardware safely" to stop your external drive and then disconnect it from the computer.  At this point, its entry will be removed from the Device Manager.

If the procedure above does not read your card before the card reader, I am ideas.

  • Satellite A500: card reader cause BSOD

Hi I have a satellite A500 and its card reader (jmicron) is dead.
It is for me a bsod.
I solved my problem without installing driver jmicron and use xp.
In win 7 gives me a bsod always because win 7 driver jmicron.

    My question is:
Can I remove the motherboard card reader?

    Sorry for my English thanks

No, you can't do that I think that the card reader is part of the mobo and it s not removable.
But you can turn off the card reader in Device Manager.
Have you tried that? If this isn't it!

  • Internal SD card reader of the A200 Satellite no longer works

When I got to my Satellite A200 worked the internal SD card reader, and then after using it once it has never worked since then, and I got it almost a year now.

I was wondering if I m the only person having this problem or if someone could help me.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Dan

I assume that your problem could be linked to the SD card reader driver/software anomaly.
In most cases the installation of the new driver can help solve these annoying problems.

First, you need to go to Device Manager and must check the status of SD card reader. Sometimes a yellow exclamation point may appear if something is not wrong with the software or the driver for the SD card.

In any case, if the yellow exclamation point appears or not, you should remove the SD card from the Device Manager reader and reboot the laptop.

Then you should install the new downloaded SD card driver and need to check if a SD card compatible and taken in charge would be automatically recognized in the A200 SD card reader.

    Good luck Dan

  • OS update 10.11 El Capitan, causing the crash MacPro

MacPro (mid-2010) 2.8 GHz Quad-Core with 32 GB of RAM ECC DDR3 and an OWC SSD 480 GB Accelsior, AMD Radeon HD 7950 graphics card.

I tried to upgrade 10.10.5 to 10.11 three times with the same result - startup gets about 80% of fact and accidents with the information on the screen. Then goes through the same cycle over and over again. I also have a two monitor Setup, and a single monitor is active (when I recover 10.10.5 both work).

Any ideas on what is causing the problem?

Remove the CalDigit. I suspect it's a USB 3 PCle card. There is at least a CalDigit PCle card which is causing your problem.

The foregoing happens whenever I have insert the cable VGA which is quite annoying, because I use it with my projector every day.

Accidents seem to occur more often when I closed the lid and insert the VGA cable. If I open cover more often get a black screen (which remains black even when I leave the cable again).

I could try to fix this problem?

Which driver (or other) would be the most likely cause?

    Thanks Adam! :-)

Yes, as I mentioned, accidents have disappeared after installing the latest driver Nvidias own site.

Remaining problems are small problems which I can live with to what NVidia fixes if all goes well with an updated driver.

But it was really great to see instructions on how to start in safe mode on Windows 8. I always wondered who. Thanks again Adam! :-)

  • Where is the connector on the card reader on the motherboard of the Aloe (p6777c)?

I removed my Pavilion p6777c motherboard to add a secondary market of the cooler and reconnected all cables going to motherboard except the card reader cable.  I find no documentation indicating where the card reader cable connects to the motherboard Aloe.  Connector 4-pin fits on the bottom 4 of a USB connector pins, but if it connects to one I do not know which.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks, Jeff

  • Slow 15-in-1 card reader on the desktop Pavilion p6623w

I recently bought a given to nine Pavilion p6623w desktop computer.   So far, I'm happy with the machine, with one exception - the integrated SD card reader is really, really slow.  Windows 7 measured in Kbps not Mbps transfer speed. It takes nearly 10 minutes to copy a RAW image file only 10 megabytes of the map on my internal hard drive.  Needless to say it's unusably slow.  When I plug my camera into the USB port on the front Pavilion, it takes a few seconds to copy the same file.

I run the manufacturer of Windows 7, 64-bit installation.  The machine is stock except for 8 GB of RAM and a Phenom II x 6 extra 1045T 95W processor upgrade.  Both the memory and the processor are in line with the official specifications of HP of the machine.  When I insert an SD card, Windows recognizes it immediately and I am able to view all files in Windows Explorer.  Everything seems fine until the actual copy.  It is also incredibly slow when imported in Adobe Lightroom 4.

The map that I usually use is a SDHC PNY of Class 10 16 GB card.  However, I also tried a SanDisk 512 MB SD card and the results were the same.

I spent a few hours looking for this forum and other suggestions, nothing worked.  I uninstalled the readers of card reader in Device Manager and let Windows reinstall them after a reboot.  Function update driver in Device Manager says that the generic drivers already installed are the most common.   On the strategies in the Device Manager tab, I changed it for optimal performance (allowing caching of writing), without success.

I am at a loss and I hope not to have another cable or external drive cluttering up my desktop.  The built-in player was one of the things I really liked about this particular desktop computer design.  I would greatly appreciate suggestions for a possible solution.  Thank you.

    Hello

Reformat the card and test it on another PC to make sure that it performs to your expectations.

Unplug all devices and media cards USB of the PC except the keyboard and mouse which must be plugged into the ports back.  Now try again.

    Try clear the CMOS.

If the above does not work, then you might try to swap the USB connectors on the mother board inside your PC and see if that makes a difference.  See the image below.

  • Right click in the shell of the BONE causes the crash of Explorer and restart

I am one of those who have a problem with Explorer crashing when I right click in the Win 7 OS shell.

When I right click on an element (for example, file, folder, library, shortcut in the start menu,...) explore hangs frequently... showing a message box and then finally by displaying a different message (with a progress bar) that explore restarting.  The issue is sporadic.  It happens regularly during a certain period, and then it may not happen again for a little while.

The issue started on my 64-bit Win 7 Pro system after a clean installed.  I had also installed other software (end versions on the web... not old code).  So, I started uninstalling things... and also used ShellExView disable each contextual menu non-Microsoft extension... and it happened again.

So, I rebuilt my system again... from scratch... clean install... and then settle with just three things:

    (1) I hosted Windows Update
    (2) I added the latest version of Avast antivirus (free)
    (3) I installed the latest version of Firefox

.. .and boom... Explorer crashed again in the same way.

Others say that this problem occurring on a vanilla full Win 7 installation with nothing else installed... which none of the third-party drivers.  I met dozens of people have reported the problem.  Here are a few recent reports:

    http://www.SevenForums.com/crashes-debugging/34826-right-click-Desktop-causing-Explorer-exe-crash.html
    http://www.SevenForums.com/performance-maintenance/19169-right-click-causes-Explorer-crash-fix.html
    http://www.SevenForums.com/crashes-debugging/22061-Windows-Explorer-crashing-right-click-under-x64-RTM.html

Several people have analyzed using various tools of profiling and dump and all signs point to the corruption of the heap... and the data looks as Explorer retires upon itself not a third-party component doing... but we don't have the source code to find the specific problem.

Obviously, there is a problem... and we would be grateful, at least, something that looks like 'we are aware of the problem and are addressing it. "

    Thank you.

    see you soon,
    Steve

Unfortunately the guys I dropped and reloaded but my apps will be the same in the list but I will not load anything on this machine, but the basic principles until I am sure that the problem has disappeared.

For now, I have this installed

all the default drivers but a newer version of the Intel AHCI drivers

    Opera
    Firefox
    Flash
    Java
    Kaspersky Internet Security
    Trillian

That's all I'll keep until this thing is running at least 3 days or more without an Explorer of the accident. If it crashes again as before, I will go back to Vista and don't move not not for Win7 until Service Pack 1 and I build my next machine. I can't spend every day on this and I don't want to. If it comes to Windows (which I strongly think that it is after all that) so it's quite sad, it's something like that got behind testers.

I wonder if the 32-bit version would be more reliable and it's just a x 64 issue?

I'll keep posted guys... Thank you

Just upgraded to Windows 7 Pro to Vista business and cant get internal or external card reader connection. Not even connect the camera via the USB port works.

  • How to you turn off the card reader in the BIOS of HP on a dv6693us

I'm trying to clean up the hard drive with Dban, it keeps hanging up on the pci sysfs that is a known issue with HP and the Ricoh card reader. All forums say to turn it off, but for the life of me I can't find it in the BIOS. I disabled the only other thing I can, the only one who has been activated was the CD-ROM drive.

I'm not the most experienced in there, but I've never had a problem before. I just need to turn it off, otherwise I'll have to open the case and disconnect it physically... that I would prefer not to do so.

I tried to use Secure Erase of the Center for Magnetic Recording Research, but it does not work either, looks as if it was developed for Windows up to me. I thought nothing to lose then burned the disc and it froze before you start running.

Now after reading some of the reports I'm not if sure that any written software program is 'sunk', but I'm not too worried, I don't have that much to personal info here ever. I have other computers to it. I just want something that does a great job and works well. I lost days to try to obtain Dban to run so far.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rob

I looked in the BIOS on a DV2810us I, who is the little brother of lil 14.1 '' laptop series DV6000/DV9000. There is no place to turn off the card reader that I can find.

Try something else like Partition Wizard, my personal recipe. Scroll down the page and get > Bootable CD ISO and > ImgBurn to burn the iso image to cd, a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here. Once created, boot from it. Delete hard drive partitions, create and format.

  • Built-in Windows 8 camera causes the crash

I have a 15 dashboard recently I upgraded to Win 7 Pro for Windows 8 Pro.  Everything seems to work fine EXCEPT the built-in camera.  Whenever I have try and use it with Skype, it causes the computer crash blue screen with a KERNAL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE.  Check closely, there seems to be a lot of complaints about this, but no new update driver Win 8, Lenovo.  Any information would be appreciated...

    Hi, studew

I have a workaround possible for you until Lenovo can release the camera built into your system and Windows 8 driver.

If display you the charm bar from the desktop or the main screen of the metro and select Search, then type "Troubleshooting" and change the filter settings, a parameter called Troubleshooting should appear. Select this option. A list of programs should appear. Scroll down and select Skype. From there you should be able to put Skype to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Because you are using a Windows 7 driver for your computer, as it was the last version, then Skype running in compatibility mode with Windows 7 can help you use your camera in this function.

Hope this helps and let me know how it goes.

    Adam
