Catalog: batchGetFormattedMetadata problem?

I'm new to Lightroom 3.0 SDK, but found catalog: findPhotos and photo: getFormattedMetadata working properly.

But, when I tried "catalogue: batchGetFormattedMetadata ' it returns an empty array.  Anyone can report I can hurt is this small snippet of code?

The resultTable returned has length 0, although there are photos in the catalog: "catalog:getAllPhotos().

Import "LrTasks".startAsyncTask (function()
local LrLogger = import "LrLogger".
local myLogger = LrLogger ("libraryLogger") - the name of the log file
myLogger:enable ("logfile")

local catalog = import "LrApplication".activeCatalog () ".

local resultTable = catalogue: batchGetFormattedMetadata (catalog:getAllPhotos (), Nile)
myLogger:trace (#resultTable)

end)

Windows 7, 64-bit, Lightroom 3

It's kind of funny to table to analyze using pairs, not ipairs.

local chat = import "LrApplication".activeCatalog () ".

local dialog boxes = import "LrDialogs".

import 'LrTasks'.startAsyncTask (function)

You mean: save your catalogue and your image folders tree takes hours. Yes, it's time to write a copy of everything to a new location. It takes about the same time the first time you do this "backup" with all software, including Acronis (I use Acronis). Incremental backups in the items are not very fast.

That's why I want to use Acronis that is much faster. I save the photos and I have record catalog information.

The catalog information is stored in a folder of catalogue (with the name of the catalog). Use the Help menu > information system to find its location and its size. It is by default in a folder in the Windows Explorer, so you will need to "show the hidden files and folders". Because the catalog does not contain file image, its size is small enough to be copied or backed up very quickly. You can do this from the Explorer or, why not, by Acronis.

It would be OK if I save c/programs/adobe for the catalog?

The main purpose and the advantage of Acronis is that it can restore an entire disk, including the main one with Windows and your training programs to another disk in the case of migration of crash or computer drive. I do full backups in Acronis at intervals. It is a comprehensive solution, not only a solution for my photos, catalogues and library.

You can also selectively, use Acronis backup folders, disks or partitions.

The big advantage of the backup/restore of the Organizer, is that it can restore catalogue and the library to another drive or computer, while keeping the links in the catalog to the new location of the files restored photo. If you library and backup separately catalog file and restore to a new drive or a computer with a different backup system, the links will be lost, and all the files are displayed as "missing" or "disconnected". The backup of the Organizer also invites you to convert the catalog to a new format of version if necessary. If you use Acronis as a utility "clone", your readers will be restored completely with all of your other programs and data, no problem to reconnect, but it will be not much faster.

If you want a backup strategy to be able to save a lot of time (which means more security...), you can use several methods together like me.

-J' using the Windows 'Syntoy"tool to sync my library and my catalogs on an external drive. Once the first synchronization is performed, the update after an editing session is extremely fast. Who does not update the links in the catalog, but it is fine if I "sync back" to the original disk even.

-At intervals and when I know I have to migrate to another drive or computer, I do a full backup of the Organizer.

-Intervals, when I have the time, or after you install new software, I also create full backups of Acronis; which saves everything, but that takes time. This is the solution for all my programs and data, not only for my library and catalogues.

    Edit:

Who does not update the links in the catalog

I mean that if I restore it on the same drive, the links will be kept, but if I restore on a new drive or the computer, the links in the catalogue art always the old drive...

  • LR5 catalog import problems. (2)

Problem no. 1. When you import into LR5, 'copy as DNG' in a specific catalog file, LR doesn't place no where I've specified, but creates a new folder outside of the catalog folder specified, with the same name of the import file that I've specified.

Problem # 2.  After making minor changes in LR5 and 'Photo' _ "edit in" _ "PS CS6", I "save under" a PSD in the original record of LR, so that are side by side in the DNG, PSD ('grading' has the value 'capture time' or 'file name').  It has always worked without problem in the past but now (for the last 3 weeks) when I save PS to LR, a new folder is created with the PSD file in it, and it is not placed in the original source folder which I have appointed.

In the FINDER, all files are displayed in perfect order, side by side, on the correct files, but in the form catalog LR, split into several files.

In both cases, to import, a new folder is generated and my file is not where I nominated to go.  Any thoughts? I even uninstalled LR5 and returned to version 4 and still had the problem.  I have not changed the settings recently. With the help of a MacBook Pro OS X 10.9.2.

    / Volumes / my LightRoom book/images/my pictures

Jim... I notice in the FINDER, PICTURES is all uppercase, and the path in LR is u/l.  Well, I changed the FINDER you / l case 'Photos' and tested a demo of PS edit in LR and it went in the right position, next to the DNG format PSD in the correct file! Yes!

Now, I'm just trying an import from card reader to see if it imports correctly.  I'll let you know.  I think you found the problem for me! I will introduce soon.

UPDATE: import of card reader worked flawlessly after changing the 'IMAGES' to 'Images' in my FINDER window.

Thank you Jim, a lot for helping me!

  • Lightroom 6 crashes on opening catalog

Tried the update of Lightroom, the windows and the GPU.   Renamed preferences and the locking file.  Always crashes using 25% of the CPU.

In this case, try opening a recent backup catalog. If you have LR 6/CC, the backup will be compressed.

Unzip it to a folder of your choice, and then double-click the .lrcat file to launch LR. (do not try to launch LR by clicking its shortcut)

The backup can be so recent that you can continue to use it, but if not, create an empty catalog (File > New), and then try again to import the catalog of problem in the new. (File > import from another catalog)

In both cases, once you have a working catalog, immediately make a backup and make sure to check the integrity of the test and optimize catalog.

  • Huge problem with LR 5.1

    Hello

I've expericenced very poor performance since upgrading to LR 5.1.  I use LR for many years and never had any problems before, but I find this impossible to use version.  The problem is with the library module: it works correctly for a few moments, then stops to a crawl when switching to a new photo mode full screen, showing "Loading"... "at the bottom of the image, this loading does never stop and my only option is to close down LR.

Try to isolate the problem, I have reinstalled Windows, made sure I had the latest versions and updates for all, tested memory and disks, and optimized catalog: same problem.  Here are the details of my system, copied from system information.

Tonight, I tried to use tethering with my new camera. I fired up my image processing software, plugged in the cable, and managed to take a couple of  photos using the tethering plug in. This is intentional and one of the new security features of Capitan E - the protection of the integrity of the system.  You may not modify the software system, even as an administrator.

Photos is installed as an essential part of the system and not a separate application. To be able to uninstall it you have to disable the protection of the integrity of the system by booting into recovery. Not a good idea.

Try to ignore the pictures. You don't have to respond to the surprise guests.

  • L830 satellite - Touchpad does not work

    Hello

I have a 16W L830 I bought less than a month ago. Meanwhile, I had a catalog of problems (it crashes 3 - 4 times a day; it took 2 days to install MS Office; etc.).

For now I'll stick to the more immediately pressing problem: the touchpad stopped working - again. This happened twice before; both times I did a restore of the system for the next day, and that solved the problem.

Today, however, the restoration of the system did nothing to help with the problem of touch pad. I also tried to repair/upgrade to update driver, but my device manager make sure the driver is up to date and works very well. I tried to re - download the driver from Synaptics site and restart my computer, but it does not work either. It is on the edge of my technical knowledge, so now I'm stumped.

As you can probably hear I'm pretty fed up with the machine in general and seriously plans to return. It would be good to set the touchpad, at least, I can use it for the next two days, until I have the chance to take in the store.

Any help you can give would be really appreciated! Thank you
    C

    Hello

Before the recovery of the laptop, check if the touchpad isn't disabled.
This should be verified by using the function Fn + F5 (or only F5) button
In addition you should go to BIOS (F2) and must check if the pointing device is enabled (BIOS-> Advanced-> system-> pointing device Configuration)

In the case where it would not help, recover the laptop

  • By selecting a tag is not all images with this tag

PSE 13 with all updates running on Windows 10.

When I click on a label under the component "Tags" I see only a subset of the images that contain that tag.

For example, I have a label of "Pat". When I click this tag with 'All media' active I get 81 results.

If I do a Find/By details (metadata), and then select "Key words", search for "Pat" tag, then search I get 828 results. The result of 828 seems accurate.

No idea why my component Tags search returns a different result?

    I tried:

    1 restart the application.

    2. restart Windows.

    3 file/manage catalogues/repair (no problem found).

    4. the full backup of the catalog (no problem).

    5. file/save metadata to files

I make heavy use of tags. I use the tags pane search all the time.

    Never really had any problems.

I have 23 725 articles in the catalogue.

There was an Adobe update this morning. Don't know what app has been updated.

    Thanks for any help.

If the update went normally without error, don't worry about this.

The reason you get different results with two types of search is more likely because of the hierarchy of tags and the fact that you can assign the same word in different subcategories or one more tag.

If you select by a check box on a tag in the Panel tags, you get only the items in the sub category. If you use the search in detail or in text, you will also find the same tag in other categories. On the current situation is when you have imported the files and you're left with the real tag and the other in the "imported" tags

For example, I have a subcategory 'Flowers and gardens' tagged 'flowers '. I also have a tag 'Flowers' in another category for a special place. The number of found items depends on the search mode. If you use the search by text (top right), you will see different results and this will give you an idea of the differences.

It is not a good idea to assign the same tag in different categories, but I'm willing to bet there will be a lot of complaints if the software prevented this bad practice.

  • Key words imported, but none of my photos by 11,000 previously marked have tags! Help!

I just moved all the pictures previously marked in PSE11 to a new computer. I saved the keyword tags to a file and imported into PSE11 on the new computer. All my tags are there but no media displayed. When I click on a tag ex-vacances 2014. Where now are the tags on the photos? Do I have to retag all 11 000 more pictures? I had to save catalog on PES under file before moving to save the tags on the photos?

I'm not sure after what you did exactly. Here's what I think from your description.

You do not use the backup / restore process which is needed if you want to move your files and catalogs to a new computer.

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/Photoshop-elements/KB/backup-restore-move-catalog-Photoshop.html

You moved "all photos previously marked... to a new computer.

I understand that as a copy of your folder tree of images to the other computer (via Explorer or Finder).

"Previously with the tag' can mean two things:

    -previously marked in the catalogue

-even more 'writing metadata to files.

If you do not write metadata in the files on the file menu, the tags are not written in the photo files. They cannot be recovered by a simple "import."

I saved the keyword tags to a file and imported into PSE11 on the new computer. All my tags are there but no media displayed.

Exactly how is that did you save the keyword tags? Looks like you used the option copy the description of your hierarchy of categories and keywords in a text file.

You can restore this description of the hierarchy in a different catalog, no problem, but that restores not no matter what tag attached to a file in the catalog. Imagine that you have a physical storage of the items in a chest of drawers, each drawer has its own label. You can copy the dresser, which does not fill the drawers with the original content.

The copying and restoration of the hierarchy is useful when you want to 'import' of files in an empty catalog with the description of the hierarchy already copied.

Your goal is not to 'import', it is to 'restore' tree of catalogue and photo on another computer (or disk).

Even if you 'writes the metadata to the files', restored the hierarchy of tags and imported your files again, you don't get it all. That will be good for the tags, categories, captions, notes, ratings... but not for the albums, piles and fixed version, which is only stored in the catalog.

Now, that is all simply copy the catalog folder? You can find its location in the menu help > System Info.

The answer is that you can move or copy this folder where you want to, its contents will not be changed.

The problem is that the content of the catalogue is links pointing to another player. All your files will be displayed as "offline"... You will use the reconnect function that is not as easy as you might think. http://psekb.blogspot.in/2013/03/How-do-i-reconnect-missing-files-in.html

So, if the foregoing is only the result of my imagination, please correct me.

  • slow to load 1:1 previews

I use LR 3 on a Mac Pro quad core 2.66 with 5 GB of ram. Even after the construction of the 1:1 previews, images take a long time to load - just make prognoses in library mode. What happens in general, is that I can go 3 or 4 images that load very quickly, but each image in the 4th or 5th rises blocks/pixelation with 'load', which takes about 8 seconds or so... which is a lot of time when you're going through a shoot with hundreds of images. Here's the shot with a Canon 5DMII DNG.

Is this normal, even after the construction of the 1:1 previews? Any suggestions to speed things up? I optimized my catalogue, which is a large - more than 100 k images. Is the size of the catalog the problem?

(Incidentally, LR 3 EN solved freezing and crashing issues I had with earlier versions - I'll post soon on this, but I have a deadline now, so it's a priority.)

I had exactly the same problem on my MacPro, and he went after you remove the "... previews.lrdata" folder. It was not clear in your answers if you did this, or simply deleted the old previews using the menu item in LR. I found that the latter did not a thing to help the problem. Delete the entire folder did fix.

The folder seen reached 30 GB in size with a large number of entries, so it did take some time to remove it from the trash.

After my experience, I do not think LR manages his insights and the correspondent to preview database (or whatever this counter uses) very well. I am not convinced that previews never disappear, either after that period of time defined in preferences, either when they are specifically deleted using the menu item. I remember also a forum entry earlier that talked about problems with deleted glimpses hang out.

    And a related question:

LR only refers to 1:1 previews in preferences, and then on the menu... what to standard previews? They never go away? How can I control those?

  • PSE 8 not backup Media Files

I have PS Elements 8 (Windows 7-64 bit) with 9000 catalogued photos.  It is fabulous everything EXCEPT when I do a backup (file-> backup CD catalog) backup contains ONLY the catalog files, not the media files.  Backup of my 27 GB of photos is so only 200 MB.

My multimedia files and my catalog files are both on the D: drive (2nd internal HD)... the Program files and Windows installed on C:. I tried grouped (all files are linked) and repair of the catalog (no problem found).  The backup works fine with no error, it's just MUCH too small.

I tried the support of drive C:, D: drive and the DVD with exactly the same result.

I made a simple copy/paste of my complete file on an external drive, so I have not saved much.  But I would use the built-in feature, so I transfer whole enchilada to my laptop without losing links (laptop doesn't have a disk D :).)

Anyone have any ideas why PSE refuses my backup media?  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

Adobe is clearly PSE as a milk cow, by investing very little effort in the Organzer and preferring to add some new features for marketing purposes rather than fix bugs that pending for years.  Here is an interesting blog of Michael Slater, who led the development of the original Photoshop (later renamed to organizing PSE) Album.  Michael provides a time frame on the decline in the quality of the Organzer:
