Cataloge conversion PSE7-> PSE8 dumps

I'm getting desperate. I've been a loyal user of PES in the 5 + years and have invested a lot of effort in tagging my photos of 42,000 etc!

When do the converting of catalouge of the v7 to v8 end ESP after the completion of 57%.

The logfile (pse-conversion-log_xxx) is empty.

I tried http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/#_Updating_File_Metadata - log file is attached.

Do you have any suggestions of what to try?

I am running Win7.

* There is no missing link.

* I ran repair (forced, as there is no error reported) and optimizes it in v7 before conversion.

* V7 did not run during the conversion.

* I tried on two different computers

With this route manual, you can retrieve your hierarchy of tag directly, and you can recover your games of version as batteries with a modest effort. For albums, you can retrieve their content, but not the photo that you order by assigning a temporary tag to each album.  See this FAQ on the fusion of catalogs for retail (indeed, you "blend" your PSE 7 catalog in a catalog of PSE 8 white):

http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/Photoshop-elements-FAQ.htm#_Merging_Catalogs

Regarding import album information exported by psedbtool, which would be possible with a good amount of programming or scripting, if you are familiar with SQL databases.  If you have the technical skills required, it would probably take hours 5 or more scripts to import and check that it works.

  • To the PSE11 windows 8 category PSE6/windows vista: problem catalog conversion

Hello. I saved my PSE6 on external hard drive (I optimized/repaired before saving) and then installed PSE11 on the new 8 pc windows - no problem. Followed all the advice, I have seen/read to convert saved PSE6 catalog but doesn't seem to find (I tried custom location / browse and go to the folder where the backup is saved, but it just says: "no file matching your search").

I then tried to install PSE6 on new computer restored catalogue him, then looked for the catalogue still in PSE11. It seemed now to find and convert, but some files where missing and a lot of keywords/tags as missing.

I tried to uninstall the lot (including the removal of the files in the files they were saved in the new computer) and after looking at the Forum, tried to backup old PSE6 on old pc again, but this time the first saved metadata on files and then sustained upward (took HOURS!) Reinstalled PSE11 on the new computer and tried - back to the first problem - does not "see" the backup, even if I know it's there (there is a .tly file, etc.).

I don't really want two versions of the PSE on the new PC and I REALLY don't want to have to start from scratch all 5000 marking files! I hope someone can help and tell me what I'm missing. I certainly not a seasoned PSE user, mainly due to lack of time and started with PSE6 knowing nothing at all. Am hoping to have more time to use PSE as I will work from home, but I just spent the major part of 2 days trying to figure this...

Yes, of course. Please check that you check the box corresponding to the maintenance of the folder hierarchy.

  • Cannot convert PSE7 in PSE8

PSE7: on 18 000 photos on the D drive. Everything in the catalog of PSE7. None of the missing files.

PSE8: Install and convert PSE7 catalog. Conversion complete with all the thumbnails, but they all have a link to non-existent files now I drive. (I have the drive contains some zip files but no pictures). Trying to manually bind generates an error of something like "unable to connect. File already exists in the catalog. Reconnect automatically not reconnected the files either but I don't remember the explicit message.

I uninstalled and reinstalled PSE8 with the same problem. I can import existing files on the D drive in a new catalog, but then some data becomes corrupt that I begin to have the import date instead of the date set for the digitised photographs.

Suggestions as to how I could remove this imaginary connection i drive outside the disconnection of the drive?

As a first step in troubleshooting, run the psedbtool utility:

  • Catalog items 14 (from PSE 3) conversion failed

I was unable to properly convert my PSE3 catalog to PSE14.  I went through all the possible solutions in the knowledge base, and I still cannot get lucky.

My PSE3 catalog resides on a windows XP computer and I try to move it on a 64-bit Windows 10 with PSE 14 computer.  With my last attempt, I followed the instructions in the article titled "convert organiser for 64-bit versions catalogs / Photoshop Elements 13 or later.

I saved the PSE3 catalog to a hard drive.  I restored the PSE 14 catalogue.  It seems to work fine until the failure of the conversion notice.

I used the catalog Conversion utility to convert the catalog to a catalogue of .pse13db.  He also appeared to work properly.

During the conversion of a catalogue of PSE14, he went to 37% complete and continuous fast conversion for awhile without the % (he continued to display the names of files that have been conversion) back, and then I got the standard error message.  I checked the log by following the instructions, and that's what it contained:

Conversion log: began the conversion of D:/media/photos to C:/ProgramData/Adobe/Elements Organizer/catalogs/photos

    copy the entire catalog directory...

    error: D:/media/photo copy failed, abandonment

    catalog copy failed

    Conversion log: Conversion failed

It is the newspaper.  I do not know how to do this, because I think I tried everything in the KB and that I could find in the forums.

    You have followed the instructions:

Convert catalogues organiser for 64-bit versions. Photoshop Elements 13 or later version

Have you downloaded the PSE13 version as requires it?

    7. at the end of the conversion process, the .pse13db file and the cache of miniatures are available in the specified destination folder.

8 launch organizing elements, choose file > manage catalogs > choose location custom, and then click file > manage catalogs > repair/Optimize.

    Note:

If the conversion fails, open your catalog of the version of the elements organizer that it was created in, and then click file > manage catalogs > repair/Optimize.

If you have installed the trial version 13, you can check the catalogue with the "catalog.pse13db" file is working, and you can use it to repair/Optimize before using version 14 of the convert.

  • Import of catalogue of PSE Windows to PSE9

With the new version of PSE9 for Mac finally including the component of the Organizer, I wonder if it would be possible to convert a Windows PSE7 catalog to the catalog of PSE9 Mac? This would allow me to do all my photo processing and organization on the Mac. Currently, I have to run PSE Windows in a virtual machine Windows on my Mac, which unnecessarily complicate things. I think THAT I'm not alone in this dilemma.

    Dolphy

It is 3 steps if you want to use your catalogue of win in PSE7 on PSE9 MAC: -.

    (1) convert the catalog of PSE7 PSE9 on Win

    2) take backup of the catalog of PSE9 on external hard drive

    (3) copy the catalogue saved on MAC and restore the catalog

    I hope this helps...

  • United Nations-smart or restore a dynamic object

It would be very convenient if there was a shortcut key or a button that could 'come back' or 'non-smart"a dynamic object to what it contains. I know that you can open the smart object and reglisser the content of your PSD work, but having a button to switch between these steps would be very useful.

If anyone knows an easy way to do this already, please let me know.

    Thank you

    Graham

Thank you Michael, but I was looking for a non-destructive way to toggle the smart object layer in an expansion of its content.

That's the point, it may be non-destructive if the document containing (what Chris calls the parent) is another resolution, mode or bit depth.

If you mean you want to be able to return to the multiple layers of the intact smart object in the document container - then this is a good feature request. Of course it would happen by conversion mode contextually, dumping layers adjustment and resampling the contents of the dynamic object. If a dialog box warning would be necessary. It would be a useful feature because it would enable the integration of temporary layers, to simplify the structure of the layer on complex documents - another use of dynamic objects.  Its a feature I would use.

  • Action/effect of defect in an action game in PSE5

I have a set of Photoshop scripts that contains a 'main' action that performs some features and call a bunch of actions 'sub '. The main action is listed first in the game and is automatically included as the default action and runs correctly when it is installed in PSE6, PSE7 & PSE8 and also works as expected in a German version of PSE5, but in an English version of PSE5, somehow that the second action (IE a 'sub' action) is running rather than the first. Is it possible to configure the default action or force PSE5 to recognize the first action as the action to perform? If this is not the case, is anyone know what PSE algorithm uses to determine the action to execute? The action being performed is not prime (or the last) in alphabetical order, nor place first (or last) in all of the action. Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This example can work for all versions.

I never thought to put actions outside the subfolders.

I'll have to remember that one.

It seems that pse5 is the odd man out when it comes to actions.

In any case, I hope that you can get all this worked.

  • Disorder of conversion of databases (PSE8 to PSE14)... psedbtools made me close (?), but I still 3 .psess missing files.

I spent several hours trying to convert my PSE8 PSE14 database. I followed the recommendations I've seen in the forums and with psedbtools:

    1. Reconnect all the files missing and optimized (in PSE8)
    2. At ran psedbtools and addressed to a problem of serial number of volume (using volumeid.exe) and several missing files (that PSE himself, in step 1, has not set)

Psedbtools shows still 3 missing files; These are files in my directory of catalog as .psess

    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\My Catalog\projects\2010 meeting: Don't Blink.psess

Note that each of these files contains a colon in its root file name. So I can't still creates these files (in order to 'false' on the conversion program).

You can try again after closing your organizer and restart the computer, and then look in the Manager of tasks for services related to the PSE8 and deactivation if found.

If you try the conversion on a copy of the catalog file with project files deleted from the Organizer, you n ' no risk.

  • Try to upgrade a PES 10 catalog Lightroom CC - problem: conversion file path problem [was: upgrade Photoshop elements catalog]

    Update 20150707:

So I think I found the reason for the problem:

About 60% of my files in my catalog of PES 11 are converted (or probably better: "sent") to Lightroom with a double slash "/ /" in the path of the file.

This looks like: D:/photos/ /Keep, albums, 2002, 200212 < the rest of the way is OK >...

Lightroom complains that it cannot find the file on the disk, probably because of the double slash.

With more than 4,000 theses error Lightroom core dumps with a buffer overflow, probably due to the large number of error messages. Cup of the catalogue of PES 11 decline little by little I managed to identify the cause.

The problem is that my PES 11 catalog is repaired, optimized and PES 11 think that the file is in the correct location and can open and edit it.

So what do I do to make the two programs to understand each other with their file name conventions? ... or how to get rid of the second crime "/"?

    Thank you

    ---

    Good afternoon

I'm trying to upgrade a PES 10 catalog Lightroom (Lightroom details below) CC - both on Windows 8.1 (details below as well)

There are about 30,000 photos in the catalogue of PES 10. Import runs for awhile then LR CC shows a short message that it could not import all of the photos and then it is intercepted by a Windows operating system message that indicates «Lightroom has stopped working...» »

He has imported about 3,500 photos and converted all the photos of Collections, but also in the tree of the key.

    I tried the following:

    (in PES 11)

    • optimized and repaired the catalog
    • removed all files types that LR does not support
    • removed all media offline

    (in LR cc)

    • Tried running in different compatibility modes
    • Tried running in administrator mode
    • Temporarily disabled any antivirus software

I run LR CC successfully with a new catalog and it behaved very well through all operations. TI ROM dumps on the conversion of this catalogue. Importing photos from the catalogue above works fine hierarchy; just that it loses the key word and obviously knows no collections.

Is there any log file indicating the element involved the conversion?

I have to say that I love LR after a period of three weeks of the trial, but I'm not really ready to let go hold on 90% of my data meta at this stage.

    Best

    Thomas

I found the reason, but there is no solution...

    Comments:

The double slash ' \ ' in the path appears to be introduced with the upgrade to PSE10. I can't say how it happened, but there were about 27,000 files connected by an access path "D:\pictures\\album\portrait\image_1.jpg".

Fortunately, I worked with this database, as in fact all files could be catalogued, modified, opened with the editor. I checked from time to time for "Missing files" and none has been identified. After I discovered the problem during the conversion of catalogue Lr, I checked the display "File Location" and none of the files with the double slash are recognized as part of the catalog. I could import into the catalog of the "location of the folder" producing duplicates:

    'D:\pictures\\album\portrait\image_1.jpg '.

    'D:\pictures\album\portrait\image_1.jpg '.

live happily next to each other.

I could "move" the wrong file in the thumbnail view in its original, which corrects the incorrect path. But as my collection is well distributed on a large directory structure and there is no way to sort way "thumbnail" it would be a never-ending task.

Here are the steps I took to fix the problem. It was not as simple as it sounds by

now and took a lot of trial and error for weeks.

    1. I made a backup of the catalog PSE10 ("File-> backup catalog..") hard disk
    2. I have 'removed' photos from their original location, so that they could not be found (as I had a distinct data reader, I just removed the drive letter in the Windows Disk Management Console)
    3. I restored the backup PSE10 ("File-> Restore Catalog... "), choose 'new place' and placed in the root of a different drive. If you do not have a spare laptop drive, you can use the "subst q: ; I had hoped to keep the structure of the root, it is easier for the PSE10 to reconnect files later, but I can't confirm that it makes a difference.
    4. After restoring PSE10 complained (thankfully!) could not find any files (27,000) with double '-', so, unlike the situation at the beginning, I could now chose "file-> reconnect-> all missing files. He tried to find the files, but he could not find them in the area returned after searching for 5 minutes for the first file. Then I reconnected a file manually and restarted the process and after 1 h PSE10 had reconnected all files without any problems, and the images appeared as well in the 'file location' display.
    5. As I wanted my files in their original location, I "return" the files in their original location by moving them in the 'File location' view, which took another 3 hours.
    6. As I was not very confident with the whole process ensuring all files have actually been part of this process, I closed 10 PSE and "reinstalled" my original tree together file pictures of the "retired" location (step 2) after you delete the files moved PSE10.
    7. I grew up PSE10 and checked for missing files, everything was still connected.
    8. Finally I re-imported the tree of the original files 'reinstalled' together again to see if something is missed, but all files have been correctly identified as duplicates. The final step was to validate "File Location" view, where are the files appears in the tree structure tight.

Then, I did what I wanted finally to update the catalogue of PSE10 to LR6 and it worked without any problems take images and metadata across.

    Fact.

    A plea to Adobe...

I think it would be a great idea to publish catalogues different proprietary formats (PES / LR). This

cannot be that difficult because you must have appropriate documentation. In this case the problem could be

solved with double '-' setting programmatically. If you think that your customers entrust their digital

assets on your cloud, some "opening" your end would be just one...

WARNING *: the wrong volume files

    --------------------------

    Readers of Windows

    Type path Serial Reader

    C: builtin_drive *-*.

    F: builtin_drive *-*.

    I: readonly_drive *-*.

    P: builtin_drive 7419-E677

    V: builtin_drive *-*.

I used the instructions of John to change the serial number to get rid of the warning message "bad serial number in the catalog.

I also used his instructions on a workstation (in this forum) to change (via SQLite Database Browser) the Drive_path_if_builtin to do the same thing as the 'path used by PSE.

Yet, when I try to convert the catalog in PSE8, I get the error:

The conversion operation failed. Try to repair the catalog with the software that created it and restart the conversion.

I tried workaround John suggested for "Files of the wrong volume" error, but it seems to assume that the new catalog (for PSE8) already exists.

Here, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

There are two problems with your catalog that are probably confused the conversion.

    1. your photos are stored in the catalog folder P:\Photo.

    2. you try to place the PSE 8 catalog converted into a subfolder of the PSE 6 catalog file:

    P:/PHOTO to P:/PHOTO / PHOTO copy P:/PHOTO

To work around this problem, first move the files to the catalog of p: back to a folder on your C: drive, such as described in step 4 of the FAQ:

    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-FAQ.htm#_Problems_converting_cat alogs

Then, when you call the file > catalog > convert in PSE 8, before clicking on convert, select catalogs accessible by all users, and then click on convert.  This will place the catalog converted on your C drive, not in the P: subfolder.
