CC 7100 CMT

Hello

I have a dc7100 cmt with SB, windows 7, when I try to upgrade to w10 have erred in the video card driver incompatibility. The only solution is to install a new card in the PCI slot?
What card do you recommend?

Tanks

You are the very welcome.

If you receive notification that you can not install W10 because of the graph, you can ignore that by making the installation DVD and install from the Windows desktop.

Title: Convert Compaq 7100 CMT from XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro.

Hello everyone. The Windows XP Pro on my Compaq 7100 CMT is replaced with Windows 7 Professional (32 bit) using a system OEM disc that I bought in a PC shop. The computer is 3.2 GHZ Intel Pentium 4, 2 GB ram, HDD with a 320 GB Seagate 7200 RPM ATA serial / min. plug some additional computers, Compaq 7100, WCL PP255US, s/n system {removed privacy}, {removed from privacy} inventory number Council ch h 0968, bios hp 78 1 v01.05 16/06/2004. Physically disappears the 40 GB hard drive with XP Pro and the 320 GB drive (currently 1 player) will be used as drive 0 and Windows 7 Pro is installed. He probably won't be partitioned into two drives. A Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor report was generated for this computer, and is the main concern of this report, "virtualization technology is not supported, this PC does not support hardware virtualization assisted". As you know that this statement refers to the XP mode which is optional for Windows 7 Professional.  My question is what material makes this PC not support for virtualization technology, and this PC can be modified to support the necessary hardware. I'm a novice at this sort of thing so maybe I do not understand what that means here the report. In addition, another concern of mine is how will the PC really run Windows 7, it will be too slow for example. I would appreciate your help and comments.

    Thank you

    Oscar

    Hey, Oscar:

There is no processors VT supported for the dc7100, so activation of VT in this machine is not going to happen.

If you have integrated Intel card, is not entirely Windows 7 or Vista capable.

Here is the link to a graphic driver for laptop that will allow the graphics acceleration and a change in screen resolution, but you won't have Aero under any circumstances.

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=447371&prodNameId=447348&swEnvOID=2096&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-47264-1

You download and run the install file. It will be the error. Close the error window.

You will need to manually install the driver by clicking on the VGA adapter in Device Manager. Click on update driver driver. Select travel it my computer for the software method and navigate to C:\SWSetup\sp34749. Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and the driver should install.

Otherwise, you can buy a video card compatible windows 7 (PCIe x 16 2.0), who will work in your diet 345W specifications.

  • CC 7100 cmt: questions upgrade ram cmt dc 7100 (please help)

    Hey all,.
There is history... or you can just go to the section "cut to the Chase" to the bottom of the post

    The long story...
my name is chris, and I'm trying to help a 14-year-old son, friends learn a lil more on his old pc.

his pc has a hand and is obviously outdated, I got a bunch of old carcasses of office and let him rumage anything that would contribute to his pc. We found a total of 3 GB of ram ddr400mhz which is just below its limit of 4 GB machines.

so I thought everything would go smoothly, it is certainly not my first ram upgrade, having built many of the old desktop computers it was inflict through, I consider myself pretty well informed on the pc and have renovated a lot of pc, same Freelancer my skills of mechanics and tokens for a lil extra cash on the side I have dealt with many a problem, repair and upgrade, since I took my first windows machine in 2000, before that I started with a commodore 64 and eventually got an apple iic when I was about 10 years old... anyway, what im getting here, is I USED to know my s#@t, but for some reason any It's evading me and google isn't offering anything on the subject.

We planned on him to update to sp3 after have modernized their equipment as much as we can, while at the same time educate him as much as I could about how the computer worked, how to open and how to treat the components inside, it was the first time, he had never looked inside his machine or any machine besides...

However, because of delays and the issue with the ram does not, I eventually send him home with the same stock set up, he brought to me.

    Cut to the Chase

The problem here is that for some reason when I install 1, 2 or 3 the cards of ram 1 GB the machine do not post and triggers a series of beeps system, so obviously something isn't jiving, and I can't put my finger on it.
I can use 1,2,3 or all 4 of his stock [256 MB ddr 400 mhz] ram cards and it will display and start with change messages memory clear system, however, when you use less than four of its ram slots, a message is launched upward during post, stating something to the effect of all the slots must contain the same amount of ram

We are working on PC is a:
    HP DC 7100 CMT
    Windows XP SP2

    current installed RAM is [256 MB ddr 400 mhz] x 4 = a total of 1 GB

    tried to upgrade RAM parts:
    Ballistix [1 GB ddr 400 mhz] x 2 = a 2 GB total

    more

Memory Dell [1 gb ddr] (mhz are not)

I thought it was probably a bios thing and was about to investigate, but we ran out of time, now I'm tender hand to this community in the hope that someone here can indicate what it is I'm obviosly dominant, I really want to get his machine is upgraded because it is expessing a lot of interest in Unity3D , and scripts, ANDS I'd like see hiw cultivate these skills and I can't buy a machine, and he cannot afford a new machine, so the upgrade of its rigging with these old quarters would be the most ideal situations for him, if we cannot find out we will simply create a new rig out of my 'old' , but the 3.0 ghz core dou in his dc 7100 cmt processor is probably better than any of the alternatives in my attic... so yes this is my dilemma and I hope that some here is kind enough to point me in the right direction

    Thank you and best regards,
    Chris

    Hello:

You must have the total amount of memory in slots 1 and 3 are the same, and the same quantity in slots 2 and 4.

The PC will not work if you put 1 GB in slot 1, 1 GB in slot 2 and 1 GB in the Groove 3 because you're short 1 GB in the empty slot 4 and just short of 1 GB in slot 4 = 5 beeps.

Then... If you do not have 4 x 1 GB then use 1 GB in slots 1 and 3 and 256 MB in slots 2 and 4.

See the table below on page 16 memory configuration.

  • CMT 7100 CPU Upgrade

    Hello

I searched in the upgrade of aging ' 04 CPU (P4 520) in my 7100 CMT. I know that I can't do any Pentium Extreme Edition / Pentium D, Core Xeon or whatever it is.

    That just leaves Pentium 4.

I know that the Pentium 4 620/30/40/50/60 are confirmed working in this model.

Question 1: is the Pentium 4 670 supported in this model?

Question 2: Are the Pentium 4 662/72 supported in this model?

I would get a 662/672 for virtualization support.

    I thank very you much.

It is good news to read.

Thank you for following it upwards.

    Enjoy!

  • CMT Compaq dc7100 Dual Boot, Windows 7 Pro and XP Pro

Tile: CMT Compaq dc7100 Dual Boot, Windows 7 Pro and XP Pro

Hello everyone.  My computer is adjustable having the dual boot with Windows 7 Pro on disk 0 (320 GB SATA Seagate Barracuda 7200.11) and XP Pro disk 1 (40 GB SATA Samsung SP0411C). As the two systems are available at the start but most all the time Windows 7 Pro would use. The computer is Compaq 7100, WCL PP255US, 3.2 GHZ Intel Pentium 4, 3 GB of ram, Council ch h 0968, bios HP 78 1 v01.05 16/06/2004, chip Intel 915 G Express.  According to the website of Seagate Barracuda 320 GB with (quote), ' he not there no master/slave because every player relationship is considered to be a master in a relationship from point to point.» If two drives are connected to a Serial ATA host adapter, the host operating system considers that the two devices as if they were the two "masters" on two ports separated. Both drives behave as if they were device 0 (master) devices.  On the drive Samsung (SP0411C) I put a jumper for master, it is connected to the motherboard instead of disk 1. Used rider illustrated for Samsung SP0411N since I did not see the SP0411C listed. When selecting information for Samsung Seagate site sometimes showed data for their readers. This is perhaps due to the recent acquisition of Samsung or maybe my mistake.  Tried swapping around wiring of each drive but that didn't work of course. Looked at the settings in the BIOS but did not see a way to create the dual boot.  Please let me know if you need more information. If you know how this can be done or have some suggestions, please let me hear it. As always, thank you very much for your comments.

    Oscar

Hello oscarmint, I checked the specifications of your system and it does not show the system supports two types of hard drives.

The system supports only Serial ATA (Sata) synchronous Maximum 150 MB/s transfer rate

You would need to make the jumper on the Seagate 320 GB Sata Drive pin, set at 150 MB/s.

You are right that the Seagate would not Cable Select or slave settings and it would be the master and only on cable.

If the 40 GB hard drive is a type of ATA (IDE), you'd better put as selection of cables (CS).

  • What is the maximum size of HARD drive, I use in my dc7600 CMT

I use a HP dc7600 CMT, which works well after the upgrade to a Samsung 128 GB SSD Intel Pentium D 3.4 GHz, 4 GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon HD 6450. I'm under Win 8.1 Pro x 64, with the most recent upgrade and have absolutely no problem. Now, I want to add a second internal HDD and I wonder what is the maximum size that I can go to. I can't go up to 2 TB, or am I limited to a lower number? 1 TB? 500 GB? 250 GB?

Will be happy to help here, especially if he actually tried to apply in practice.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards

    Hello:

In theory, you'd be limited to 2 TB.

The biggest HARD drive I have ever installed in my dc7600 CMT was a 1 TB of HDD, so I can't confirm that a 2 TB drive will absolutely work.

  • HP Elite 8200 CMT: Bios Update after the update of Windows 10

Hello, I've updated my HP Elite 8200 CMT from windows 7 to windows 10.

In the HP driver download page, there is no updated BIOS for windows 10.

But I noticed that it is has updated BIOS for Windows 7.

The question is, can I use it on Windows 10?

And generally to load OS updates to the BIOS?

    Hello:

You can remove the base flash BACK of the package of BIOS file folder, simply copy the contents of the file flash BACK on a USB stick formatted with the FAT file system.

Plug in a USB flash drive, restart the PC, press the ESC key to get the options menu.

Select F10 system configuration to access the BIOS.

Select the file menu > control system ROM Flash.  Select the USB flash drive.

The PC will see the files on the flash drive.  Follow the instructions to update the BIOS screen.

In this way, it makes no difference what operating system you are running.

A very important point... I read the last 2.29 installing BIOS causes problems with the W10.

There is a post on the forum about who...

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/business-PCs-workstations-and-point-of-sale-systems/HP-Compaq-8200-elite-SFF-slow-reboot-time-in-legacy-BIOS/m-p/5654549#M12815

I use v2.28 on my HP 8200 Elite CMT and have no problem at all on W10.

I have read that post and decided to not update the BIOS to v2.29.

  • Laptop 7100 protected prevents Cup.

    Hello
I have an old laptop 7100 protégé. If I watch a DVD on the computer with the battery and not the outlet, after about 10 minutes, the laptop to cancel just like it is running out of power. If I turn it on again, I can watch the DVD for about 3 minutes and the same thing happens. The large external battery is new. When he cut, I restart and check how much battery life is still, and he told me that the battery has completely discharged. This will not occur when you use the socket.

I was wondering if the laptop had another smaller farm who was dead (because it's so old) and which is making its performance. If I use the laptop for word processing or other things no taxation, machine there is fine (until the battery runs down completely).

I don't know much about computers, so any help would be very useful.

    Thank you

    Hello

The Toshiba power saver uses different modes of consumption. If you play the DVD without the main power of the unit uses a different power with different settings mode.
You sounds description as a standby or hibernation mode.
In my opinion, you should check the settings and possibly disable time to standby mode and Hibernate mode.

  • Portege 7100 - what size HARD drive it does support?

    Hello

my old man (I'm a student, so no money for a new) Portege 7100 (ct) has a small hard drive, so I want to shift to a bigger... but what size HARD drive supports the 7100ct? (and that's a 1.8 "or can I use drives 2.5"?)

    thx for any help...

    Hello

As far as I know that your unit has standard 2.5 "hard drive. Unfortunately there is no public record of such information. Accurate information, you can get that from accredited service partner or even some HARD drive supplier.
In my opinion, your device must be able to manage with maximum up to 8 or 10 GB HARD drive. For me, we know that some offering it can manipulate the BIOS with special tools and after that BIOS recognize a much larger capacity HARD drive.

Try to pick up some information on the net service partner or call your country. I believe that consultation service is free.

I have a driver with my Hp dc7100 cmt tour 7 months ago, I upgraded Windows Xp pro to Windows 7 Edition System Home Premium, it was working fine... or so I thought, then week or so I did a Windows update that has problems starting

Windows 7 upgrade advisor has been downloaded in my system, I started to have a driver problem he always tells me to update my drivers for systems, I well updated some drivers but I was not of the most important of them.  It is a Graphics driver (WDDW) driver for windows aero graphics would work my CD-Room go stale and USP port pilot who was also outdated... The player windows Media have also stopped...  He told me to contact my PC manufacturer or retailer to see it an upgrade is available, I've been looking and asking for two days... I hope someone reading this and can give me some advice on how I can get these updates, or tell me why I can't get HP... My goal is not to get out a purchase of a new system, but fix the one I have... as a student, my funds are very low!  Pease Help, thank you

    Hello:

What graphics card you have in your PC?

You mentioned Aero, and you wouldn't get Aero on a dc7100 with the integrated Intel graphics card.

You'd only Aero, if you have a PCIe x 16 graphics card is windows 7 capable.

If you have the Intel integrated video card, I got something that will install the video driver, but you won't have Aero.

In addition, he will work for W7 32 bit.

So, please post back and let me know what video card you have in the PC, because if it's an add-on, one, I would need to know the manufacturer and model.

  • HP Compaq dc 7800p CMT: install graphics card GeForce G100 on HP computer

    Gentlemen!

I have an unusual question on installing a GeForce G100 graphics card on my HP Compaq dc7800p CMT. I know it's technically a work computer, but I think that the question applies to any HP computer.

I got the video card for almost anything and it seems from my investigation that it will work on this computer. The problem is that there apparently is not a standard Nvidia GeForce configuration, but were made for Acer desktop computers. The card has VGA, DVI and HDMI ports. There are standard Nvidia configurations that include the VGA and DVI ports, but not the HDMI - at least that I've seen.

For the most part, my question is which driver I should try to use it with her. If I download driver Nvidia directly, generic for this card, what happens with the HDMI port? It must, of course, a special driver that Acer with this card allows users who must support the HDMI port, but what will happen if I installed Acer driver for this card on a HP computer? I could live without the HDMI port, but I would be rather functional.

It is very difficult to get a useful answer forums GeForce on legacy hardware, so much worse if it's an outside-the-box situation like this. Maybe nobody can offer anything other than a guess, but I'll take what I can get. I tell myself that an assumption of a tech-saavy person more than me is better than my own guess!

Complete information on the map in question follow: GeForce G100 512 MB DDR2 HDMI/D-V FN: 288-50N44-A01AC

    Thank you for interest!

    Grant

    Hi, grant:

Normally, the Nvidia driver install everything, including audio/video HDMI.

On the dc7800, install this card will disable the integrated audio system as well as the video integrated, so after installing the card and the drivers, reboot the PC, go into the BIOS, select the Advanced menu and then select the menu options of the device.

There will be an embedded audio setting and it will be on people with disabilities.  Set to enabled, save it and then again when you exit the BIOS.

Reboot, then you should have the on-board audio back.

Before installing your video card, go to Device Manager, click to expand the category of display cards, right-click on the Intel graphics card, select uninstall, check the box uninstall driver too when it exists.  I forgot if it is or is not under Vista.  Windows 7 has this additional option.

Instead of restart as you are prompted, stop and unplug the PC and install your video card.

  • HP compaq dc7900 cmt: need help to identify certain hardware in some tech.

    Good, good morning/afternoon.

Ive had trouble understanding this old pc that I found laying around. I decided it might be fun to try to update as a challenge for a bit of fun. However after getting the open pc intel core 2 duo cpu is not the usual device that allows easy removal of the cpu and looking more closely, it appears that the cpu is completely blocked to the motherboard. I find it odd that a cpu would be glued to the motherboard like that especially on a desktop computer with as much space as the CMT version.

I'd like someone just confirm that the CPU is not removable and also request that they tell me the motherboard installed in this particular unit.

Thank you very much and sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hello:

You can remove and replace the processor.

Here is the link to the repair manual for the dc7700, which will provide the steps to do so.

Want to watch Chapter 6, section 6.18 and 6.19.  Now the heatsink in your dc7900 seems different from that shown in figure in the dc7700 manual, but still, it comes off with 4 screws.

Remove the processor is the same in both models (6.19).
