Undo changes after Windows updates
Original title: Windows 7 Home Premium
On 9 September, some updates have been installed on my computer and it resulted in changes basically what Web sites look like. How can I reverse them?
Hello
Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.
You can uninstall the update or restore the computer to an earlier date.
Method 1:
Step 1: See which Windows updates are installed
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/see-which-Windows-updates-are-installed
I suggest you remove the update and check if you are able to launch applications.
Step 2: Remove an update
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/remove-an-updateMethod 2: Restore the system
See the System Restore with the backup and restore
Note: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.
Hope this solves the problem. If the problem persists, you can write back to us and we will be happy to help you further.

Vista - fonts and display have changed since Windows Update
I had the same problem yesterday and had to back up and restore to an earlier period. This morning the same automatic update came and it's the same thing. It affects my desktop screen, my icons, and all programs. I have a Dell with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium.
Fitz,
Who updates?
the first step is to remember the famous words of wisdom: if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
the second step is to NEVER make an upgrade with anything that does not come from the brush head or a trusted source
as a general rule, it is best to install only the updates of the security. and you should always stay away from hardware (optional) on the microsoft site drivers! chances are the drivers that you are fine just the way they are. If you did not need to update, you should go to the manufacturer Web site the real to do.

GUI changed after Windows Update
Updates installed fine (automatic) update, but after a "reboot" my taskbar on the bottom looks like in Windows Me. I do not like and I don't know how to change...
does anyone have the same problems after updates?
Hi PA bear. Appreciate your advice I thank you for taking the time.
After you have started in my PC this morning, the problem is now resolved itself! I have the normal taskbar and the theme of return! I didn't do anything more after my comment previous, just stop and went to bed. And now by some miracle it is resolved...!
Anyway, as mentioned, your help is very appreciated and I will make a note of the links etc. for later use.
(Just to note Ref the idea of changing the theme manually to swican, I got the same options that confused cuddlecat - i.e. no vista in the themes option).
all the best

Display has changed after Windows update
After you have installed the latest updates of windows on 12/12/2012, my screen has changed. All the graphics have been expanded, including the desktop icons, taskbar, tool bars, bars of window, etc.. I checked the configuration of the monitor and the icon size in the taskbar and start menu properties (which remains set on small icons), but I can't find how to go back to my original display size.
The installed updates were:
Update security for Windows XP (KB2758857)
Update security for Windows XP (KB2753842)
Update security for Windows XP (KB2779030)
Update security for Windows XP (KB2770660)

and
5.10 Skype for Windows (KB2727727), who fails to install
Grateful for any help please?
Thank you for your kind assistance which directed me to the solution. Change the screen resolution in the problem resolved display settings. Strange how that changed spontaneously after the restart following the installation of the security updates.
Thank you very much

screen resolution changed after Windows update
PC: Dell Vostro 220 s
OS: Windows XP Professional SP3
Monitor: Dell 2009WFP LCD, is the native resolution of 1680 x 1050 (according to CNET review)
Problem: After an automatic update of Windows, my screen resolution has been changed to 800 x 600, where the police has been huge and fuzzy on the screen. Then, I realize now the display settings only have 5 options, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024, 1600 x 1200 and 1920 x 1440. The last of them is out of range. So I put it to 1600 x 1200, but everything on the screen appears stretched.
I tried system 1) at the earliest days of restoration, 2) unplug the monitor and reconnect the monitor, the monitor 3) download the Dell Web site WFP2009 driver, nothing works.
Nothing has similar problems, how do I get the near resolution of 1680 x 1050, which is classified to the native resolution for this monitor according to the CNET Web site, and I vaguely remember what the maximum resolution in the display settings.
Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
Hi mumimi,
It seems that your system was shipped with Intel graphics card. As several drivers are appearing with exclamation points, I would say that you can download the latest drivers here-> enter the serial number of your system-> select OS--> download/install drivers in good order as given here.
Please respond to the findings. He won't be far away.

Could someone help me on this issue.
I need to change the folder where download windows updates, I know there must be a way to do this.
Updates Windows installation location cannot be changed. Windows updates tend to fix and replace the old files of the system, so it would normally replace a file in the System32 folder.
If you want to free up disk space, see the following:

Windows 8 won't let me change the settings of Windows updates
Hi, I'm changing my Windows Update settings from Automatic to Manual, but the option is not available in the Windows Update screen. I use my Live admin account not to claim, I also have a local administrator account and the same thing is happening: Windows Update settings cannot be changed. Attached photo...
Intended to clarify, I'm not in any network, it is an Stand-alone Windows 8 processor ASUS TX300CA laptop and basically, I try to avoid the nagging Windows 8.1 update pop-up. There are programs that I use and which do not work well, or simply do not work on Windows 8.1 if I ever go back to Windows 8.
Thanks in advance for your support
First of all, you need to remove all that you have done to try to block the 8.1 update. That is why it is said that your settings are "managed by an administrator", because the administrator (probably you) put in changes in your registry or policy settings to cause this.
Or if you don't, then a virus did. Because someone, or something, went in and changed your policy and registry settings.
So if you don't, I recommend that you run system restore to undo the change unintentional, then run a full scan.

Computer hangs after installing windows updates...
computer hangs after the installation of update. Full system restore and the computer worked fine for a week. Has started having problems still... verified and automatic updates for windows have been downloaded and installed today. Confused about where to go from here. Help, please. Thank you!
To be clear, the issue is not appeared since the updates have been installed one at a time, correct?
KB2447568 is A compatibility view list update is available for Windows Internet Explorer 8:23 November 2010
The KB updates a file in Internet Explorer.
There is a small chance that Trend Micro has a conflict with the update. If this is the issue, then there would be more posts on this topic.
This looks like a temporary glitch occurred. The only suggestion I would make is that when there are a bunch of updates, as there was in December, then it would be better to install the most complex by themselves.
This would mean that changing setting Windows updates for "download updates for me, but let me choose whether to install them.
For example, the cumulative update for Internet Explorer, KB2416400, would be installed last, and by himself. And, since you pick a time to install updates that have been previously downloaded, then you can install them in groups of 4 and If it is another problem caused by them or their installation, you will be able to refine specific update was the cause.
