noise of thermocouple

I use a PCI-6221 (16 bit) card with a cable connection to a CB-37F-LP, connected to thermocouple type T (slope = 52nd-6 V/deg C)

Perform the calculation, my temperature resolution should be:

resolution of voltage = 2V/2 ^ 16 = 3.05E - 5V

RES = resolution/slope = 0.59 C tension temperature

My temperatures are jump + / 7 C.

I got the same results with more thermocouples and several board positions.

I also got the same results when I connected the thermocouple directly to the PCI-6221

Any ideas?

  • How can I filter the noises of thermocouple using a TC-2095 and SCXI - 1102c?

    Hi all

I currently have four TC - 2095 s connected to the SCXI - 1102c inside an SCXI-1001 chassis cards. These thermocouples are floating and I get a good amount of noise (400 Hz 3 phases and same 60 Hz noise) when we turn on some equipment such as fans, and fans. Using this current set up, how can I filter the noise? Or I would need to put in place a new hardware configuration (e.g., the SCXI-1102 cards)?

    Hi RALoo,

The 1102 C has a lowpass filter with a cutoff at 10 kHz frequency, so you will not be able to filter into the material with your current configuration.

Your first option is to use a software filter.  LabVIEW has several functions that do this. More information can be found here: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361J-01/lvanls/filter_vis/

The second option would be to change to SCXI 1102 cards as you suggest.  The low-pass filter of the 1102 was a cut-off adjustable to 2 Hz frequency, which will stop the noise of 400 and 60 Hz don't affect your readings.

  • Noise on the readings of thermocouple on the NI PCI-6225

    Hi all

I have a problem with what appears to be static electricity caused by noise on thermocouples.

We test with a sand as a medium flowing through a plexiglas window and measure the temperature in the stream. The interaction of mixture air/sand flowing through the plexiglas creates a significant amount of static electricity and our thermocouple readings are severely affected. Is there a way to filter the signal so that my data and off-scale obvious signal analysis tools ignore?

The filtering I see seems to apply only to high frequency noise. I would like to cut the signals from the TCS to ignore all of the above measures 700DegF and under 32Degf.

    Thank you

    Hi Emi_emii,

It might be useful to see what the current state of your VI acquisition is - just to get an idea of your overall architecture. I see a couple of alternatives.

    1. You could do some external signal filtering to get rid of the extra load on your son of thermocouple - see this valuable whitepaper on the topic of wiring: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/3344/en/
    2. The extent of the filtering software, you could use the cooker and force the function (http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361J-01/glang/in_range_and_coerce/) on your data and the use of the Boolean output to hide your actual data or simply to force your MAX/MIN values

    Hope this helps!

  • Noise thermocouple with PCI-6230

What level of noise should be expected for a K type thermocouple used with an acquisition of data PCI-6230 and a map derivation CB-37F-HVD? I read the data with LabVIEW and Daq Assist module on the setting of the thermocouple and the noise see of +/-1 ° C. For a type thermocouple K 41uV / ° C is 3 times the 6230 noise expected (13 uVrms) runs around 0.2 full scale. I think it should be more stable measures or is this a normal behavior?

    Thank you

This level of noise is expected. To improve, you can use a card with a noise filter. A dedicated thermocouple module would also work, but this includes a noise filter as well.

  • NI9213 Thermocouple measurement noise AC

I use a cRio with various thermocouple C-Modules NI9213. For my application, I need thermocouples not be safe and be very close (same body) sources and AC cables. When I read the thermocouple values that are close to the AC cables, I see noise sinusoidal structure in different frequencies (according to my sampling frequency). I use high-resolution scanning engine (mode high speed gave a louder signal). I would appreciate any help on this matter. Should I ground my cRio in a particular way? My last resort will be to sample at a higher frequency and the average of the values (assuming 60 Hz noise, I want to sample at least 120 Hz).

    Thank you!

Thank you very much for your answers.

I had to settle for ' high resolution ' on the NI9213s and its rejection of 60db 60 Hz with some 'best practices' noise when the wiring of the AC power lines and thermocouples. However, the noise is not completely filtered. Looking around for other data acquisition devices (no OR in particular) I found modules thermocouple with at least 120db 60 Hz noise rejection. I personally use another provider of data acquisition with a thermocouple module that filters the noise of 60 Hz as a charm. I wonder why limited filtering on the NI9213.

  • Thermocouple configured in module module-9221

    Hi all!

    Nice day!

I try to configure thermocouples type K 6 through the NOR-9221 analog input module and chassis cDAQ-9174. I'll be able to get the direct temperature readings outside this module not being a thermocouple module? Otherwise? Please suggest me how to get the temperature for this add-on module-9221 directly! Quick help will be very appreciated!

    Best regards!

    Tajim

To build on what the broken arrow, the 9221 is really not at all optimal for measurement by thermocouple.  Most of the measures by thermocouple are between 0 to 80 mV.  The module 9221 is a 12-bit with a range of ±60V module.  The width of the code for this module is about 15 mV and your accuracy is 156 mV.  All your thermocouple readings will be lost in the noise for this add-on.  I would recommend the 9211 or the 9213 for measurement by thermocouple, because each has CYC and is specially designed for thermocouples.  If you want to try an external amplifier, which can run, but you will probably need something that can amplify from 0 to 80 mV to 0 - 60V.

    Kind regards

  • incorrect thermocouple reading

I have an NI PXI-1033 with an NI TB-2709 block and I'm under Labview 9. I'm just trying to read the temperature with a thermocouple to any of the eight channels. Unfortunately, when I look at the reading of the measure and menu task Automation Explorer value fluctuates all about the difference from peak to Valley about 50 degrees C. I tested the thermocouple on a multimeter and it gives a good reading. What's wrong. Help, please.

Once I updated the chassis ground to the shield of the input cable that the noise went away.

  • Great variation on thermocouple readings

I have to type K thermocouples (two long wires twisted and welded at the end) connected to a map of SCC - 68 (without modules). This card connects to a data acquisition NI PXI-6221 multifunction with compensation of CYC.

I have install a global channel virtual for the CCM, connected according to the diagram in the user manual, etc, etc-, that everything seems to work fine. When I connect my thermocouples, however, their readings are very sporadic; they could go from 69 degrees F up to 89 degrees F or more.

Suggestions as to how I can get a more uniform reading? Honestly, I don't care if it jumps around a few degrees, but variations of 10 to 20 degree seem a bit much.

I have attached a copy of my VI (LabVIEW 8.2) that I use to display temperatures (it's part of a larger system of control, so ignore everything except areas thermal two on the left ).

Can be measured in differential mode?

How the signal look like? UM, cleats, white noise?

What about using a filter? Try fist: enjoy with 1kS/s and uses the average of 300 samples (work of 300ms for 50 Hz and 60 Hz power line noise)

  • USB6120 as meter of thermocouple

Anyone know anyway I can set up a USB-6120 as a meter of thermocouple in place measure voltage?  I have a few extra analog inputs on the device I want to use for this purpose, so I don't have to buy a whole new data acquisition.  Anyone have any ideas?  Is this possible?

I guess you meant USB-6210... Everything depends on the desired degree of precision... You will meet 2 limiting factors:

-noise DAQ of entry card: M-series cards usually have pretty good performance, without signal conditioning, you can already reach noise measurements less than 1 ° C, with the more sentitive input range (we did this on a project for a client). But to be very careful in your wiring, sampling frequency (higher), with an average of signal, etc. To get better, you will definitely need additional electronic (preamplifier and a lowpass filter anti-aliasing with cut up to half of your actual sampling frequency). You will find screws to convert the voltage measured temperature in the digital palette (Scaling).

-compensation of welding cold temperature: thermocouple, thus not only measure the temperature at their "end of remote sensing" (the junction of the thermocouple), but are also influenced by the junction of the thermocouple wires (made of some specific materials according to type of transport CANADA) with the connection of the side block DAQ board of copper. To compensate for the parasitic portion of the signal, you need to measure the temperature of the block connector (for example with an RTD, so you do really need one more Ain chanel) and fix the total voltage for the thermocouple voltage provided at this temperature. All this is done automatically when you use OR packaging, specially designed for the connection of thermocouple signals. But if you have a "precise reasonnably guess" (regarding your needs of precision) of your connector block temperature, the conversion V T screws allow you to specify its value. To first order (that is, if one ignores the linearity no thermocouple), the overall error will equal the error in your estimate of the temperature to the connection block. Not really suitable for precise (1 ° or less) the measures, but OK if you measure an oven at high temperature +/-10 ° C...

    I hope this helps.

  • I need to a portable data acquisition that can measure up to 15 thermocouples which is usb

Hello, a friend of mine who has no experience with labview wonder on what daq can he buy in order to have a portable thermocouple, measuring system.  It must be usb so he can take it with him and his laptop computer and can connect up to 15 thermocouples.  I've seen some usb based systems which are specifically for thermocuple measure but have only 4 entries.  It is all daq usb that I could use for this application and that I also have to cancel any unwanted noise via programming?

Take a look at Measurement Computing which is a part of National Instruments.  The USB-TC has 8 channels, so 2 of those who would do the job.

  • iPhone 6s more 'Phone noise cancelling' setting Grayed Out

I have a 6 more than 128 GB iPhone running iOS 10.0.2. I can't activate the 'Phone noise cancelling' setting in settings > general > accessibility > telephone noise cancelling because it is grayed out. I have attached a screenshot for reference.

I've tried hard restart my iPhone (Home + Power button) without success. Any help is very appreciated! Thank you.

    Hey there, Stephen Bond,.

Thank you for using communities of support from Apple! I see from your post that your iPhone more 6s on iOS 10.0.2 does not work as expected because the cancellation of noise from phone toggle is grayed out. I'll be happy to help you.

First check to see if the hearing aid Mode is enabled in settings > general > accessibility > hearing aids. If this option is enabled, then telephone noise cancelling will be grayed out as you describe. If this isn't the case and that the option is grayed out, please continue.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch - please backup your iPhone to ensure that your personal information is safe.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore the iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings - this process will completely erase the iPhone to allow a new copy of the iOS to install. The first time, select "set up as a new iPhone. Once your iPhone is back to the home screen, check the setting of the new. • Buzz of noise in the tempo switch

My song has 4 different tempos. Every time that happens, occurs a humming noise. If I get all tracks FX behind it disappears. How can I keep the delay, but not the buzz?

    Thank you y´all.

Use automation for on/off switch of the delays to and after each change of tempo.

If that kills too late in the face of that time, and then introduce a Gain ahead of every delay, automate the Gain to cut admission to the delay when changing the tempo. Who will cut the whole track, however.

    Hello

I use an iPhone 7 for 4 days now and yesterday, I, after I send a message (using iMessager, Wechat or Whatsup), I started noticing a sound weird/click tick immediately after application. That weird noise resembles a small distortion in the enclosure which happens after some noise is played.

Did anyone encounter the same problem?

    Thank you in advance.
