Change my Firewire PCMCIA card IRQ

Hi guys,.

I need to assign a free IRQ address to my PCMCIA firewire card, a card ADAPTEC AFW-1430, because irq 16 is also assigned to the ATI video card and when I save or any audio file, it is responsible for reading my sequecer (cubase sx3) click on. I know that it is usually possible from the Bios, but it isn't on mine. Can anyone help?
My laptop is a Satellite p30-130.

Hello

In my opinion, you should remove this device form Device Manager and after starting the device will be recognized again. In addition, you must install the correct driver. As far as I know it s a driver PCMCIA V5.1.2600.2003

Good bye

    Hello

The Satellite A110-178 PSAB0E supports a Cardbus 32-bit / PC - Card 16-bit slot and you can ONLY use cards PCMCIA type II

Please do not forget that your PCMCIA firewire card supports hardware specifications listed above.
If not; you will need to purchase another compatible!

  • Satellite A100-259 and PCMCIA card reader no longer works

I have a Satellite A100-259, I've had for about a year with no problems... so far, the PCMCIA card slot reader seems to have stopped working.

When I insert a card reader SD PCMCIA discover the laptop hardware as a "PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTURE' and subsequently can not find the drivers for it. I tried a couple of different PCMCIA devices and get the same question every time, I checked also double the card reader works by trying it in PC laptop Toshiba-not to the woman.

The PC is a XP/Vista installation start-up duel and I get the same question under each operating system. I also think that it may have started after I installed upgrading the BIOS to 2.20.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, b
    Kind regards.

Try to access the BIOS and set the defaults.
Don t forget to save the settings after the change.

By the way; Are you trying to reinstall the PCMCIA driver?
Go to the Device Manager and remove the PCMCIA computer location.
Then restart the laptop and check if Windows detects and installs the removed slot.

  • Portege 3480CT: cannot use the 16-bit PCMCIA card

    Hello

I had a problem with a PCMCIA card (new media wave jammer, 16-bit) on a 3480 with Win98 & XP.
The card appears as an unknown device in the "remove hardware" - tool.

In Device Manager it does not at all appear and Windows did not ask for the driver.

It looks like a card damaged, but still, this card works fine in another laptop!
The problem could be related to different areas of memory used by the Cardservice.

The Cardservice of the 3480 ct seems not be configurable.

    What can I do?
    Thank you

    Hello

The PCMCIA card doesn't need a driver!
To my knowledge, you must check the settings in the BIOS!

On the second page of the BIOS, you should try to change the configuration of device for all devices and in the section of PC card, you must set the controller to Cardbus/16-bit mode

    then save the BIOS settings.

  • ze5185 & usb 2.0 PCMCIA card

I have a Pavilion ze5185 notebook.  I'm sure that all usb ports are 1.1 because of their performance and the age of the computer.  I want to buy a Dynex PCMCIA usb 2.0 card that my computer will have a high speed usb port/s.  Is it possible to know if it would work with the specs of my computer?  I recently changed an "n" wireless usb adapter which is really slow.  It gives me a speed of 54 Mbps.  I have a newer office which also uses a usb n wireless adapter which is far enough away from the router and it gives me a speed of 270 Mbit/s.  I'm assuming that the difference is in the speed of the usb port.  I don't know much about computers and would appreciate your comments.  Thank you.

Yes the ze5100 has usb 1.1 ports. Usb 2.0 arrived with the ze5400. The problem is that the ze5xxx and the ze4xxx used an ALi (which has same Tony of them) main chipset and pcmcia ports was problematic even back in the day. You can go back into the older business forum (which was the only forum here) and find old posts from back in 2002-2004 era and you will see that users had a lot of trouble with all kinds of pcmcia cards. If I remember what a particular chipset usb 2.0 works at all with the pcmcia controller and I think it's the chipset, via which is not widely used in usb 2.0 adapters pcmcia and I'm sure is not the chipset used in the maps of Dynex. I am skeptical that there is a way to get complete wireless "n" of this little girl performance. You have no need of a new laptop, but if you could even get a used one or two newer and closer to the modern as a machine "Centrino" of any age that you will have something that you can achieve good performance.

  • Tecra A4 and Win7 - problems with PCMCIA card driver

I've recently updated my old laptop Tecra A4 - PTA42E - (in great condition however) for Windows 7 and it is now in the best shape ever except for the PCMCIA card. In fact, to have Windows 7 installed I had to rename the pcmcia.sys and pcmcia.inf files during the installation (to .old or .bak) otherwise the new operating system would not start. The same problem has been experienced by many other users Tecra A4 and the solution is available in a number of forums.

Although I use no more than the PCMCIA card slot, I want to fix this for a reason: If, in the future, I need to re - install Windows 7 for some reason any on this laptop, I have to repeat the same process - rename the pcmcia.sys and pcmcia.inf during installation, in addition, the new operating system does not start.

I do not understand that the original drivers from the card slot (Texas Instruments PCI-xx21/xx11 CardBus Controller with UltraMedia) are not compatible with Windows 7, but it is there any updated driver that works for windows 7? And if there's a how can I replace the old drivers in my system so that in the event of re - install Windows 7 I will not have to go through the same process? TI site is no help, and Toshiba does not all drivers to download.

Last but not least, if there is a driver available, I used the card slot for 2 ports USB 2 or 3 additional which are really necessary.

Thanks to the forum, in advance

    Hello

The pcmcia.sys and pcmcia.inf files are part of the Windows System.
This driver isn't provided by laptop manufacturer, but it is a Microsoft internal driver.

You mentioned that the pilots of the original card slot Texas Instruments PCI-xx21/xx11 CardBus Controller with UltraMedia) are not compatible with Windows 7.

To my knowledge, this driver does control not the PCMCIA location but this driver controls the card reader that supports the MMC card, SD card, card xd picture card, SM card, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro.

However, the Tecra A4 is very old model of laptop. The driver will not be updated for this camera and it looks like Windows 7 drivers never had to be released the driver Toshiba UE

  • Satellite 105-S157: USB 2.0 via a PCMCIA card does not work

I installed the pcmcia card with BIOS update V2.1 and work under WIN XP sp2.
It seems to work normally in Device Manager, but when I plugged in the USB, it may not recognise.
If I can access usb PCMCIA ports.

This laptop does support USB 2.0?
How can I make it work?

    Please help?

    Thank you

    Hello

It is a brand new model Toshiba and I guess that it supports high speed USB 2.0.
Sometimes, the operating system can not recognize external USB devices due to the limitation of power. The fact is that the USB port gives the 500mA. It is a standard value.
If the USB device use a higher power, the OS cannot recognize and activated the device.
In this case the external power supply is necessary. Another possibility is to use the USB hub with an external power supply.

  • Satellite Pro 4320: cannot use PCMCIA card after update BIOS 2.70

    Hello!

I'm using the Toshiba Satellite Pro 4320 (SP 4320). With the very old BIOS (first) version 1.0, the system has worked well on LINUX (Ubuntu) and Windows XP. So I found the update of the BIOS (latest version on the toshiba Web site). I did update the BIOS version 1.0 BIOS version 2.7.

Now, I can't use any PCMCIA card.
Everything works fine, but I can't use two PCMCIA slots.
The cards will be recognized, but the system says that there is a resource conflict.
(WLAN/WiFi adapter) PCMCIA cards worked very well with the old BIOS version 1.0, but now it does not work.

Windows XP says: 'conflict resource' and Ubuntu/Linux said after typing dmesg: "pccard gives wrong answer, for example."

    Please, help me!

Someone got an older version of BIOS?
My idea is to 'downgrade' the BIOS BIOS version 1.0 or version 1.x.

I have to downgrade the BIOS to at least 2. 6.

    Bye,.

Have you tried installing WXP again using Toshiba Recovery CD?
I mean it's so old model of laptop and I can't imagine that Toshiba will offer this update of the BIOS so long if there is a serious problem with it.

  • PROTECTED R100: How to start OS on PCMCIA card

Long story short: I need to start an operating system (any OS - BACK/LINUX) on my R100 to something other than the HARD drive.

Listed in the BIOS boot options are FDD (don't have - not sure if Toshiba even did), CDROM (mine is defective), network (I would rather avoid that road) and the HARD drive. The suboption HDD has "PC Card" and "HARD drive built-in" option.

It would seem that the best option is to use the disk with the "PC Card" Option.
I'm assuming that this means that the PCMCIA card slot and assuming that I can use a PCMCIA flash memory card.
So a PCMCIA card with an OS bootable on the subject can be seen in Solution Explorer, however, trying to make it boot from it I get a message "insert system disk".

    My questions are:
-I am correctly understand the BIOS option and the r100 is supposed to start out of a PCMCIA card, if you have selected the option "HDD/PC Card.
-You have to do something special to make the bootable PCMCIA card?

This PC is retired without a solution here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy

The R100 may use the PCMCIA port to start the external PCMCIA CD/DVD drive and you can use this port to boot from external HDD PCMCIA.
To be honest I have boot t n of the PCMCIA HDD but this should be possible.
In addition, the operating manual must contain some details about this theme
    Did you check that?

    If this isn't it!
