Here's how:

  1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.

  2. Click user accounts and family safety .

Note: If you see the Classic view of Control Panel, you will not see this link. Simply double-click the user accounts icon and go to step 4.

  3. Click the user accounts link.

  4. In the box to make changes to your user account in the user accounts window, click the change your password link.

  5. In the first text box, enter your current password.

  6. Following two text boxes, enter the password that you want to start using.

Enter the password twice helps ensure that you have typed your password correctly.

  7. Click the change password button to confirm your changes.

  8. You can now close the user accounts window.

  9. Now that your Windows Vista logon password has been changed, you need to use your new password to log on Windows Vista from this moment.

  • How can I change the password on the computer when I don't remember the original?

Original title: How can I change my password if I don't remember but don't know the pin code and I know the password to my e-mail attached?

I don't remember the password to my computer as an administrator, but I don't know the pin code. I know my connected Hotmail account information and also the password but I don't remember the password so cannot download certain applications.

So I would like to know how to change the password.

Any assistance would be much appreciated!

    Thank you.

You need the password to another one administrator-level account, or to the real real 'administrator' account?

If you use an administrator level account, you can enable the built-in true ' administrator' account, connect on it (she has no default password because it is disabled by default) and reset the password of another account from there.

    To do this:

    1. Press + X to display the context menu, and then click computer management.
    2. On the left, click local users and groups, and then select the users folder.
On the right, you will see the account named Administrator.  There must be an arrow down to this topic icon, indicating that the account is disabled.
    3. Double-click the administrator account, and then uncheck the "account is disabled".  Click OK to save your changes.
    4. Close the computer and connection to the administrator account.
    5. Back to the same page of user management.  Right-click on the account with the unknown password and choose set password to set a new.
    6. Open log on to the administrator account and your regular account.
    7. Go back once more on behalf of users and disable the administrator account.  You want to book it only in an emergency - if something had to get changed or broken in the administrator account, you have a downturn in the future to use.

    I hope this helps!

  • I haven't used itunes for some time and now have a new PC.  I've updated my account (change password) but when I connect to my music went?

I haven't used itunes for some time and now have a new PC.  I've updated my account (change password) but when I connect to my music went?  I am working on Win 8 and still have part of my collection on an ipod.

Unless you subscribe to iTunes game (which is not a complete solution anyway) your iTunes Library is on your previous PC - solution the easiest is to copy from here or from a backup.  For more information, see How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support .  Previous purchases from the iTunes Store may be available for re - download - see download your past - purchases of Apple Support.

If none of these approaches allows to recover the contents of your library, see user turingtest2 on recover your iTunes from your iPod or an iOS device library for a list of tools and methods that can be used to copy the media etc from iPod to iTunes.

  • Is it safe to store your passwords on your computer

    password storage

    Hi, flight,

'Safe' is one of those terms that means many different things to many different people.

There are degrees of 'safe' almost everything - including the storage of the passwords on your computer.  Here is an article on the subject: http://ask-leo.com/is_it_safe_to_let_my_browser_remember_passwords.html.  Here's another: http://www.howtogeek.com/68231/how-secure-are-your-saved-internet-explorer-passwords/.

As a general rule, I would recommend against it (with a few obvious exceptions, where the computer requires that passwords be saved in order to check what you enter to access something that is protected by password - such as your user name or password if used BIOS - but only in the BIOS) or as Family Safety products where the computer needs to know the password to allow access to the controls to make changes, but it's just how the computer works and not what I think you're talking about.

But I think you're talking about passwords such as those used to access different websites online and maybe some programs to get their much faster by bypassing the need to enter them manually everytime.

If you are lucky enough to never be infected by all that steals information from your computer or invaded by an attacker who uses the saved passwords to access all your private sites like forums and banking sites and sites of credit cards and network access to the server of your company where they can then access this information (maybe even top secret info that could cause great harm) and eventually you put in a lot of trouble), or are victims of a scam where they get access to that information, or that your computer stolen and then pirate to have general access and then have your other passwords are all right there in front of them to use as they please while you're trying to change all (and don't forget that all the and deal with crime at the same time) then maybe you'll be OK.

If you're not lucky, then you left the keys at all just there easy to find.  And if you have decided to show secure and unsecured information because you do not see this notice pop up all the time, you are even riskier.  And I'm considering not even the level of risk you are at that time depending on how well you attend for the security of your system and its connections.   It is not only a matter of turning on the firewall, install a firewall and on the way to the races.  Good security involves much more, and I have no idea how you covered yourself outside storage of passwords on the computer.  There are many factors involved.  Start here for some background information: http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx.  For a variety of articles on how to secure your computer, see the following search: http://www.bing.com/search?q=How%20to%20secure%20your%20computer&sc=6-27&form=BSRTLB&pc=BBSR&QS=n.

Bottom line: I know not enough about your configuration to know how well you are fixed in addition (for example, are all your encrypted files, are all programs on your computer completely up-to-date regarding updates, what operating system you have - if XP is already at risk because there are known gaps that can not be patched (never will be) to begin to guess at the level of risk associated with the storage of the passwords (who, whatever happens, will be a further risk - small maybe and maybe not so small).  But no matter what else do you, almost no matter how perfect, you do everything, it is more risky and less secure that not to do so.  The items above should help you decide if you feel comfortable doing so.  Many do and many don't.  I can only offer my personal opinion.  The computer risks, damage if they fall into the wrong hands are all yours to consider and the decision is yours to make.  I can offer no guarantees if you do so, regardless of how you do it.  I can guarantee you that if you do not you will be sure that there is a small risk based on the methods to do so anyway where you chose to not do (for example, a person installs a keylogger or a keylogger software/malware for all single keystrokes you make including what you push ) - but this is something different that you decide to consciously and intentionally or not.

Incidentally, while MSE will help in terms of blocking or removal of malware that could do it on your computer - is not really very effective, if someone happens to you through and in the browser or by other non-malware means as mentioned above.  There is password-management programs out there that claim to help to do and some work better than others - but in the end they too can be overcome, and then someone has the entire list at hand.

I hope this helps.  No I didn't give you a direct Yes or no answer because I can't with the little I know about your situation and even if I knew everything, I could not yet provide a guarantee.  I just conclude by saying that I don't have and never will do it myself and do not configure my clients for that (even if some change my setup once I got out the door) and I was in it for more than 20 years.

    Good luck!

  • I created a password on my computer and forgot it. How to reset it?

I created a password on my computer and forgot it. What can I do to reset?

    1. reboot your machine.
    2. press F8 before the Windows splash screen appears.
    * Do not press F5 as used on NT/9 x series of windows.
    3. you will be prompted with a boot options menu.
    4. Select the start Windows in Safe Mode option.
5 click on several self-explanatory screens until the Lécherette familiar 'Welcome' screen.
6 Note that this screen is limited to 256 colors and resolution 640 x 480, because the primary graphics will have been defined for the adapter VGA in Windows Safe Mode software. You will not be able to change this mode even in the display options, while Windows is running in Mode without failure.
    7. find the icon for the administrator user. If your system's default settings have not been changed, there is no password for this account.
Safe Mode welcome screen can display some of the other users on your system.
    8. open as admin.
    9. Press Yes to the prompt asking if you want to continue to use Safe Mode.
10 continue with user settings panel. Here you can change all of the other passwords for the user on the machine. Make the desired changes.
11 restart your computer. As long as you do not press any keys (i.e. F8) during startup the computer will boot normally.
    12. sign in as the user for which you set the password.

    Ideas:

    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

Start the computer in safe mode and log on to the built-in account named administrator .  You will need to know the password, if any, for this account.  Once, go to Panel > user accounts and change the password for your regular account.  Then, restart the computer and you connect to your regular account with the new password.  Boulder computer Maven

My 2 year old somehow gave a password on our computer and now we can get in our office.  Without having to return to the default settings, anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this problem?

If you have a different user account with administrative privileges, Panel you can connect that account and change the password of your account of origin of the user accounts applet in Control Panel. If you do not have another account like this set upwards or that you do not have the password which you will need to log on to the built-in Administrator account. In XP Home, start the computer in Mode safe. This, by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. This will put you in the right menu. Navigate using your arrow up; the mouse does not work here. Once in safe mode, you will see the normally hidden administrator account. The default password is white.

In XP Pro, you don't need to go to Safe Mode. In the home screen, do Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to get the classic Windows logon box. Type in "Administrator" and the password that you assigned when you set up Windows.

  • Changes password on multiple PCs in network

I have a number of remote sites where I need to change passwords for admin on all PCs on the LAN at a certain interval.  I'm trying to streamline the process as much as I can so that always changes remotely.  The obstacle, in that I am running is that each PC, due to other software running on them, must be able to automatic logon to the administrator account.  I was able to use the tool PsPasswd (from Suite Sysinternals) to change the passwords on all computers on the network from a single PC without problem.  However, I have not found a way to make the logon tool automatic (Sysinternals) works the same way.

If I can avoid having to connect to each individual computer and instead, take care of each site a single PC, it would save me a ton of time and headaches.  Anyone know a good way to pull this off, or am I stuck with what I have?  Thanks in advance for any advice!
