Change the default download location.

Original title: change defalt data storage

I have 2 drives 1 big and 1 much more small. the smallest is my c drive witch that everything is downloaded to by defalt. How can I get windows to download on my other drive and leave my most 1 for sys tips and equipment only.

Hello

What program you use to download anything on the internet? Internet Explorer?

In internet explorer 8 when you download files, Windows usually saves in the downloads folder, which is located under your user name in the users folder on the drive where Windows is installed (for example, C:\users\your namepersonal). When you save the file, you can choose to save it in a different folder. By default, some file types are saved in different folders. For example, if you right click on an image on a Web page and choose Save the image as in the menu, the image will be saved in the default pictures folder. If you don't know where the file has been saved, you can search for it in the start menu.

  4. Now in the window channel enter the path, where you want to save the files by default.

I tried all the tips and tricks of WinXP, but they do not seem to work in Win7. Does anyone know how to change the location of the default files for the dialog box "Save as" in Win7?

It seems, in Windows 7, that you cannot change locations by default save as file.

In XP, we could modify the registry or use other methods to change the location of the files that appear on the left margin of the Save as dialog box. But some Morón in Redmond chose to end with good sense and called "libraries."

  • Change the default name/location 'Scripts '...

I find the ability to change the Spry folder name and location under Site to change settings.

Is there an option to change the name of the Scripts folder and location as well?

I know that I can move them manually and update the paths, but I thought that option may be configurable somewhere - even outside of the user interface.

    Hello

Unfortunately, this cannot be changed, unless you want to go to the dreamweaver Configuration folder, locate the extension spry script and change it in the code (not recommended).

To change the default saving location library

By default the library a save location determines where an item is stored when it copied, moved or stored in the library.

    1. Open the library that you want to change.

    2. In the library pane (above the file list), next to includes, click locations.

    3. In the dialog box Library locations, right-click a library location that is not currently the default save location, click on set as default save location, and then click OK.

  • change the default location of the application

I installed an SSD and put my system on it. I don't want not used for applications or documents. How can I change the default values of systems use applications and the doc in my HARD disk drive?

If you move the Applications folder on the SSD, then this means that your applications load more slowly. Leave it where it is.

How to use an SSD with your HARD drive

If you want to use an SSD as boot with your existing HARD disk drive, as the disk 'data', here is what you can do.

After installing the SSD, you need to partition and format the SSD using disc utility disc. Then install OS X on the SSD. Once installed OSX boot from SSD. Startup disk preferences to set up the SSD as the boot volume.

Open the preferences users and groups. Click the lock and authenticate you. Or CTRL - RIGHT click on your username account list in the sidebar and select Advanced Options in the context menu. You will see a field called "Home dir: ' on the far right, you will see an Edit button. Click on it. In the file dialog box, navigate to the location in house now located on the HARD disk (disk HARD/users/user_name /.) Select the folder, click the Open button. Restart the computer, as shown. When the computer starts, it will now use the home located on the HARD drive folder.

Another more technical method involving the Terminal and the alias is discussed in depth here: using OS X with a SSD and HDD - Matt Gemmell configuration. It's my preferred approach because I can choose which records of the House, I want to on the HARD drive and I don't want to. For example, I like to keep Documents and library files on the SSD because I frequently access their content.

Make sure that you keep the bootable system entirely on your HARD drive where you need it.

  • How can I change the default location on Windows Photo and Scanner Wizard for registration?

I have a machine that would save photos from an SD card in a folder the same name as the group by the name of photos. That is to say: I want to save a group of images as "Puppyxx", where "xx" is a sequential number appended to the file in the wizard. In the past, the wizard would create a folder called "Puppy" and put all the photos with the same group name in the folder of the puppy. Now, it is dumping all the photos at the root of the "My pictures" folder I'll have to go and manually move the images. We had a problem week last with server space and had to change the wizard to download the pictures on the C:\ drive rather than on the document server. How do I go about changing the default behavior of the registration wizard so that all I have to do is provide a group name, and the wizard name files properly and place them in the appropriate folder?

    Hello Geekgirl34,

In the wizard, you can specify a folder, rename batch of images, etc.  I do believe however, that the wizard will automatically make a new folder.  You should see "options" or "advanced options", when importing photos.  You can create your new folder and change the name of the worksheet.

    Hi Maxim P,.

Sync Center is the place to go to synchronize your computer with network folders, mobile devices and compatible programs. Sync Center can keep automatically your files and folders synchronized in different places.

Open Sync Center by clicking the Start button, tap all programs, accessories, and then clicking on of Sync Center.

Sync Center is a feature of Windows that allows you to keep information synchronized between your computer and files stored in folders on network servers. They are called offline files because you can access them even when your computer or the server is not connected to the network.
