  I understand that shift key of your MacBook Pro does not respond as before. Fortunately the steps below can help to restore the functionality of the SHIFT key on your Mac.

  1. In the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
  2. On the view menu, choose the speech.
  3. Click on the text to Speech tab.
  4. If "Text Speak selected when you press the button" is enabled, the key or combination of keys set to read the text cannot be used for other purposes, or used for typing text - click on set the key and replace it with a less commonly used key combination (try using the modifier such as SHIFT keys, command) Option and control).
