Changing a dimension of stored to ASO dynamics will change my Calc MDX results?

Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays!

Changing a dimension of stored to ASO dynamics will change my Calc MDX results?

Has anyone turn their dimensions of dynamic Stored?  What are the problems that you have experienced?

Thank you for the early Christmas present (with answers).

As suggested by the other responses, it depends in part why you change.

As Philippe said, the potential problem is calculation order. Stored dimensions are always grouped before the member formulas / dynamic dimensions.

If you do everything is change a dimension currently stored is dynamic (i.e. you don't change consolidation properties, or add formulas) and then you end up with a dynamic dimension with all members having a resolution of zero order. "The order of resolution" is a property that controls the order of calculation and extends from 0 to 127.

This can change calculation results if you have existing dynamic members who also solve orders from scratch, because the solve order "tie" is broken by order reverse contour of the dimensions.

So if you change a dimension currently stored in dynamic and it appears in the sketch after (lowest in the Outline Editor view) all other dynamic dimensions (or all your other dynamic dimension members have an order of resolution greater than zero), you're safe; There is certainly no change in behavior. If you change a dynamic currently stored dimension and there are other sides dynamic after him in the sketch that contain zero members to resolve, you should test.

Further details on the order of calculation ASO in the database administrator's Guide: ASO calculation order

* I leave aside the extremely rare case where you set orders non-zero address stored dimension, that (unfortunately) Essbase allows to perform, despite the fact it has no effect whatsoever - orders to solve without meaning survive the dynamic conversion and become meaningful.

Thank you for the early Christmas present (with answers).

This is not a duplicate, but it's largely the same question that a dynamic dimension to ASO stored passing Will do my Calc MDX results change?

This is because the size of compression must be dynamic, so if you select a dimension that is currently stored in the size of the compression, it will be converted to dynamic.

If you change the size of the compression of an already dynamic dimension, it has certainly no effect.

  • 'Members of Dimension' Vs 'stored members '.

This question concerns a difference I see in 'database properties' - 'Dimensions' tab for one of our custom dimensions.

For one of our dimensions in Production, we have X number of members. When I check 'database properties' - 'Dimensions' tab 'Members in the Dimension' is equal to X and also equal to X 'stored members'.

But developing when I compare the same columns "Members in the Dimension" and "stored" for this custom dimension, they have different numbers. The number in the column 'Stored members' is less than X.

While I was trying to find out the reason why I noticed that we had extinguished the ACTION IMPLIED (Essbase.cfg) property in production for only our request but we don't turn it off in development. I was hoping that it was the cause of the difference and so I did the same setting to change in the development in the essbase.cfg file and restart the servers.

The problem now is even now only synchronize the values in two columns ('Members in the Dimension'! = 'Stored members'). Is there something that I could be missing?

Please let me know your thoughts so that I can correct this difference.

    Thank you.

  • HOW TO LOAD DIMENSIONS / MEMBERS IN ESSBASE ASO REQUEST

    Hello

We are running Oracle EPM 11.1.2.4 and created with success the planning application help EPMA workspace, it is necessary to create a reporting application. We have created a new application of ePMA workspace as essbase ASO and have dimensions of base construction and members of epma itself, the need is to have the same dimensions / members in the application (planning and ASO). My question is:

How to bulk load dimensions / workspace members in Essbae ASO using EPMA / EAS?

    Thank you

    Concerning

    Shahrukh

You must use the same method to load the members that you already use in EPMA, if it's a pure Essbase applications and metadata should be loaded for EPMA and not through the Regional service.

If you already have applications of EPMA, then you would use the same method.

  • Calculate the dimensions of the Cube ASO in 7.1.2

    Hi all

Please let me know how to find the size of the ASO Cube in Essbase 7.1.2.
One of the ASO My cubes contains 8 dimensions and about 75,000 members.
In application folder .otl, .dat, .app, .apb .rul files are there.
And the size of all these files from 111 MB only. (My assumption was the size of cube is the result of the addition of all these file size)
I missed whatever it is to calculate the size of the cube.

I heard that the size of the cube would be in the UK.

    Thank you
    Alain

You can either take the full directory under the essbase\app\yourapp folder structure size
It would be pretty much the same that you add up all the files .dat and .otl

  • Programmatically change the Active Configuration results

I use TestStand 2012 SP1.  I would like to be able to configure the Active Configuration to get results in the process template.  A station in market our sequential model would set sequential reports configuration as the current record while a station running that a batch model would fix the lot of the report as the configuration active.  In addition, if a station can be both, running the application can select the appropriate process template and he would then choose the appropriate reporting configuration.

I have installation of configurations but need to know how to set the active configuration.  I don't want on a base by sequence, but rather at the level of the process template so that it is executed once and done.  This would allow developers to change their configuration, but still have the lot or creating sequential reports selected according to whether they are working on.

    Thank you.

There are a few options here:

    1. Replace the ModelOptions plugin and change the setting for ModelPluginConfigurationToLoad to the appropriate configuration.

    2. Hardcode it in the callback in ModelSupport.seq.  This way if you've always wanted by automatic override features and call their own as they could.

    3. Hard-code this entry point for execution of Initialize just before the ModelOptions callback is called in ModelSupport.seq.  In this way the customer can always substitute and change it if they want.

If it were me, I'd go with option 3 for your case.  You can use Parameters.ModelData.ModelType to determine which model they are running with.  Then, simply put Locals.ModelPluginConfigurationToLoad on the proper setup.

  • Join report external style - OBIEE 10 g

    Hi all

I have a requirement to generate a report for products and sales. I have two dimensions and different elements of fact data.
Some products may not be sold in a month, but still I want to display in the report with a value of 0. I tried this by creating an outer join left in SPR, since we use another dimension in the de facto calculation (computed column) so also comes to the Group of left outer join and this mess with the results.

If you are looking for the best approach to give the results through answers. Here's the data and expected outcomes

    Data
Product | Month | Sale | The margin of
    --------------------------------------------
    Refrigerator | Can | 100. 20%
    Coolers | Can | 50. 4%
    Laptop computer | Jun | 300. 15%

Now am filtering of the report for the month of may, my results should be similar to

Product | Sale | The margin of
    --------------------------------------------
    Refrigerator | 100. 20%
    Coolers | 50. 4%
    Laptop computer | 0 | 0%

Can anyone provide a solution for this?

    Thank you
    Ugser

A possible solution is based on the fact that OBIEE combines (= reach external) different measures of two fact tables by their common dimensions. What you have to do is:
    Physical layer:
-create a new dummy facts table in the physical layer (for example by using a view such as Select 1 of the double ;)
-join all the tables required to the fact dummiy table with a foreign key dimension complex. Make sure that the value is always true, for example 1 = 1.
    MDB:
-create a new table makes sense given the dummy and join all tables of logical dimension using complex joins. Set levels on the tab content of LTS tie up your other fact.
    Presentation layer:
    -expose the dummy column
    Answers:
-Slide the dummy in your report. You might want to hide because for a user normal is confusing and meaningless as it will always show 1.
    -Filtering should work correctly now.

The dummy column will result in OBIEE create a Cartesian join, i.e. all the attributes of the dimension combinations used in the report will be created. The result of the second (in your case sales) will be added. In your example, it will create a record for each month for each product. Sales and margin will only added to combinations of these months and product when there is data in sale.
    I hope this helps.

    See you soon,.

  • Calculations of the rate of aggregation in essbase ASO SEEP cubes

The question (limitation to ASO) we tried to find a solution/workaround. ON PBCS (Cloud)

    Details of the application:

Application: type of ASO in cloud Oracle planning 11.1.2.3 (PBCS) application

Dimension : Total 8 dimensions. Account to the dynamic hierarchy. Remaining 7 dimensional hierarchies Stored value. Only 2 dimensions have about 5000 members and others are relatively small and flat hierarchies.

Description of the question of the requirement: We have a lot of calculations in the sketch that use amount = units * rates type of logic. The obligation is such that these calculation logic should apply only to the intersections of Level0 and then data resulted must roll up (down) to the respective parents across all dimensions. But when apply us this hierarchical logic / formula calculation to ASO, the logic(i.e.,amount=units*rate) of calculation is applied at all levels (not only the leaf level) of remaining dimensions. Here, rates are also numbers derived using the formula MDX.

Some of the options explored so far:
Option1: This is an expected behavior in ASO as all stored hierarcies are calculated first, then the dynamic hierarchies. So we tried to change the formula for each of the calculated members to explicitly summarize data at parent levels using algorithm as shown below.

    IF (Leaf Level combination)
    amount = units * rate

    Else / * for all levels parents * /.

Use the function sum adding up the amounts between the children of the current members of dimension1, dimension2 and so on.

    End

Result: Recovery works through the parents for a dimension. When the summary level members are selected in 2 or more dimensions, the recovery freezes.

Option2: Change the type of hierarchy to group all the dimensions to "Dynamic" so that they calc after account (i.e. after amount = units * rate runs at intersections Level0).

Result: Same as option 1. Although the aggregation works through one or 2 dimensions, it freezes when the summary level members are from many dimensions.

    Option3: ASO use custom Calc.
We created a custom calc by fixing the POV Level0 members of any size and with the amount of formul = units * rate.

Result: Calc never ends because the rate used is a dynamic calc with formula MDX (which is needed to roll forward rates for a specified period at all the following exercises).

If you could get any help on this, it would be a great help.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Alex keny

Your best bet is to use the allocation of the ASO, what difference does make. (one ton)

There are a few messages blog out there that can help you meet this goal. (including mine), the trick is to create a member calculated with a NONEMPTYMEMBER in the formula

Then it will be a member with an inside MDX formula

    NONEMPTYMEMBER units, rates

    Units * rates

Now, make a copy of data (allocation) of this member-to-Member stored.

  • How to assign shared ASO members

    Hi all
I am not able to understand how to assign shared ASO members. Tried the same model that used in OSI, however, I am not able to get the shared member property.
    There are in our case:

In the same dimension, we have multiple hierarchies, the level 0 members of one of the highest hierarchy must be shared by other hierarchies in the same dimension.

    Some doubts are:

1 we need to allow members to duplicate.
    2. is there that a setting needs to be changed "to activate the shared members' ASO.

    Kind regards
    Krishna

    Hello Krishna,

There are three different types of hierarchies in the model of the ASO.
    (1) stored
    (2) dynamic
    (3) several hierarchies enabled.

I guess your dimension is stored type.
Just change your dimension with multiple hierarchies enabled property and follow the below three rules

    (1) not shared instance of the Member must take place in outline before all instances of the shared member.
    (2) the first hierarchy in a dimension where multiple hierarchies are activated cannot contain a shared member.
    (3) size of the stored hierarchy cannot have shared members. Hierarchies stored in a multiple hierarchies dimension can exchanged members.

  • Optimization of the ASO - BSO

    Hi all

I'm working on the model of the Aso - Bso. All data are stored in Aso and we recover data in excel Add in the BSO. There are 13 dimensions except for the dimension account all are sparse dimension and the dimension account are dynamic calc. I am facing some problems when extracting data for some of the excel reports. I get error message "error in the extractor of contour." I increase the cache data to 1000000 even in the essbase .cfg file I've made a few changes, and I'm able to recover 90% of my data. still not able to receive complete data. Even in the properties of the ASO, I increased the cache on hold. is there another way to fix this or an alternative approach that can help me solve this problem.

What value can I set for the data cache and what modifications can I enter in the essbase .cfg file and how many max I can put forward to cache? or other suggestions

    Thanks in advance

I'm sorry, we tried to give you some tips to help you, but without knowing your applications, hierarchies, dynamic members, partitions, it is difficult to help you more. I suggest that you bring in a person with experience in the present to help you understand it. This will cost you less in the long run. (How long have you lost of tring to understand yourself)

  • ASO in cause of planning plan (11.1.2.3.500)

    Hi all

I have a problem with my ASO plan in Planning (11.1.2.3.500). All dimensions "Stored" when I refreshed the database are recognized as "Activate multiple hierarchies" in default Essbase.

What could cause this problem and how to overcome?

    Thank you.

Planning - ASO will tag all as a multiple-hierarchy dimension enabled. Point is there will be no problem to do... Are you facing problems because of this labeling?

  • Best practices for the Time Dimension

I'm a new contour design. I need to set up a time for daily dimension, perpetually. In the past I would set up a member years i.e. 2010, 2011, 2012... and a second dimension with the days i.e. Jan 01, 02 Jan.

Is there a better way than that? I would like if possible do so in only one dimension.

Have you looked at the Date-Time dimension? It's ASO-only, but has a ton of features:
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E12825_01/EPM.111/eashelp/frameset.htm?sel_cal_hier.htm

He put everything in a single dimension, btw. I've seen similar dimensions in cubes BSO stored in sparse form. Shudder.

  • Problem of calculation of dynamic scenario ASO

    Dear friends,

There is a request from the client to automate the calculation of dynamic scenario,

Here, the example below should be automated.

If you look at the code, the current month is seven (& Startmo is the variable for this) version is at work and the working version should be set under every month until dec in line with forecasts current-> work, and over seven months is must be real-> Final, currently, customer is updated manually for each month. As am new to Aso could someone help me get the logic right with the formulas of existing mdx or is there another way to do it.

What is already existing: the Substitution variables start month (Sep) and month (Aug)
    Period: Dynamic Dimension
    Years: stored
    Scenario: Active Hirearchies
    Version: stored

When (CurrentMember is ([years]) [FY10] AND CurrentMember ([period]) is [July]) then ([scenario]. [Real] [Version]. [Final])
When (CurrentMember is ([years]) [FY10] AND CurrentMember ([period]) [August]) then ([scenario]. [Real] [Version]. [Final])

When (CurrentMember is ([years]) [FY10] AND CurrentMember ([period]) is [September]) then ([scenario]. [Current forecasts] [Version]. [Work])
When (CurrentMember is ([years]) [FY10] AND CurrentMember ([period]) is [OCt]) then ([scenario]. [Current forecasts] [Version]. [Work])
