HOW TO LOAD DIMENSIONS / MEMBERS IN ESSBASE ASO REQUEST

We are running Oracle EPM 11.1.2.4 and created with success the planning application help EPMA workspace, it is necessary to create a reporting application. We have created a new application of ePMA workspace as essbase ASO and have dimensions of base construction and members of epma itself, the need is to have the same dimensions / members in the application (planning and ASO). My question is:

How to bulk load dimensions / workspace members in Essbae ASO using EPMA / EAS?

You must use the same method to load the members that you already use in EPMA, if it's a pure Essbase applications and metadata should be loaded for EPMA and not through the Regional service.

If you already have applications of EPMA, then you would use the same method.

I created my first ODI interface to load dimension members of account of a CSV of test with only 4 records in Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 following instructions of John's blog. Hyperion Planning and model file setbacks were ok, so I built the interface and run using no Agent but no lines have been uploaded in planning. The newspaper of the operator tab folder 7 - integration - statistics report execution gave the following message is displayed:

  • How to load dimensions and members in the planning application

    I'm trying to load dimensions and members in planning. I know that size of loading is not recommended by Essbase but I wanted to give it a try. I tried to load the dimensions through rule files, but it threw an error that the "members do not exist in the database. Is this an indication that the data may not be loaded at all the in the planning your application through Essbase.

    If it is a planning application, you must load the metadata/dimension planning first. You cannot load the metadata directly to Essbase as it will be overwritten when you refresh planning.

    You can read the documentation to understand how planning works. Planning is an interface that sits on top on Essbase. However, Planning metadata are stored in database tables and it is would be synch with Essbase via Hyperion Planning refresh.

    In order to load the metadata to the planning, I suggest you to open a session on planning and attempting to manually build the dimensions first to know how the planning interacts with Essbase. You can load the metadata in planning thanks to:

    1. manually
    2 ODI: You will need to reverse the planning your application and then use it to load the metadata
    3 schema utility load on planning server.

    Remember, all the planning is done via interface planning interviews and not by Essbase.

    You can try one of the below one:
    (1) use excel add and drill to the bottom of the hierarchy of entities
    (2) planning and essbase have the same hierarchy, why not use an extractor of contour in the essbase
    (3) Sql query on the realtion to correct hierarchy table
    (4) ODI
    (5) the file EPMA generator from a planning application can be used to take directly extract EPMA (if you EPMA)

    How can bring us the HFM data into Essbase cube with using EAL, since we have performance using EAL - DSS as a source with OBIEE reporting problems.

    The expanded use of analytical, I heard we can only only level 0 of HFM Essbase data and need to write the currency conversion and the calculations of eliminating PKI in Essbase to roll the Member parent. Is this true?

    Also how we can convert security HFM to Essbase security.

    Please suggest me on this.

    Security will be a bit tricky as Essbase uses generally filters and HFM security classes. You can potentially use shared groups in Shared Services, but licensing issues soar depending on supply. Your best bet is maybe to look at export artifact LCM to handle.

    3. with simple outline, which contains only two dimensions:

    All plans that I copied well worked ERP system, but I don't understand, this is exactly table in the MS SQL database, data loading to essbase db?

    TOU have to do a few things
    1. on the server of Essbase, put in place a system odbc for your MySQL database connection

  • Planning error object is locked when loading of the dimension members by HAL

    We have a problem loading a dimension members in a planning application. We get the error message Error: com.hyperion.planning.ObjectIsLockedException: the PKI object is locked by another user.
    We can load other dimensions, and we do not have the sessions/users in the application.
    We have also restarted the planning service.

    Has anyone seen this problem before?

    You should be able to clear the lock by restarting the web application Planning Server.

    You can also take a look in the HSP_LOCKS table.

    When I load the metadata directly in essbase with IKM SQL for Hyperion Essbase (METADATA).
    My metadata is already on Microsoft SQL 2000. After run an interface that loads the metadata to essbase and check in the essbase outline, it seems that vector data can not retrieve correctly. And still have many rejected cases.

    My question is:
    Can I use the same rule file that used to load a metadata in the text file?
    Because in this case, I use the same rule file that load the text file metadata.

    You can use the same rules file, check in the options of IKM, you have the same delimiter rules as in your rules file.

    You can also turn on error logging and logging in the options of the IKM, so you should get more information on why the metaload does not

  • Data period multi loading flat file to database ASO

    FDM gurus,

    We try to load Plan data for 12 months to an Essbase ASO using FDMEE database.

    We followed the documented specification stage in the format of import for amount (column = < start >, < end >) AND choosing the "multi-period Text file (contiguous period)' in the data load the rule.

    However, the Validation fails even for period dimension he complained of "value without Source for UD3".  {The UD3 in our case is be the period}

    Our record of flat file looks like in below:

    Dim1, Dim2,Dim3,Dim4Dim5,6, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

    Import mappings formats, I also see the dimension of 'period '. Could be the problem? As you know, database planning, it does not show.

    You don't have to specify which version you're on.

    When you set the size of the target Application you set period of your ASO [size target class] cube dimension as period?

    Try and that should remove it from the map area of import Format.

  • Question about compression in essbase ASO

    I have a few questions about to define a dimension of compression in Essbase ASO apps:-

    1. is it a good idea to have the size of compressor in app Essbase ASO.

    2. I read somewhere that said it would not be good idea to have the compression period dimension where months YTD neighbourhoods and quarters of the year. So should we put compression on any other dimension dynamic calc and roll ups and have less none of level 0 members stored.

    3. I have observed that when we level 0 export from an ASO application with compressed size vs ASO application with no compressed dimension, there is a difference in size of data export file. I'm not able to understand why it is so. I understand the difference between the size of data (.dat file) between Tablet app vs app uncompressed file, but do not understand the difference when the data is exported to a .txt file.

    (1) compression dimension is not mandatory, but it contributes to the performance. The compression dimension is a dynamic dimension. We need the column headers in a data load file. Ideal compression is achieved if the number of leaf-level members are divisible by 16.

    (2) ASO tuning is an art as much as a science.  The best choice depends on the distribution of data in the database.  and it's different in each database.  Read all the information and then test the various options.  Try it with time as the compression and then try with the next best dynamic dimension defined as dimension of compression.  I've linked a doc tuning which is version 7, but has a very detailed discussion of the dimensions of compression.

    (3) the format of the header (layout) of the export may be different when you use compression vs when you are not using compression.  It will certainly be different if you use another dimension for compression.  I expect the size of the file to edit when the compression setting is changed.

    Please let me know how to find the size of the ASO Cube in Essbase 7.1.2.
    One of the ASO My cubes contains 8 dimensions and about 75,000 members.
    In application folder .otl, .dat, .app, .apb .rul files are there.
    And the size of all these files from 111 MB only. (My assumption was the size of cube is the result of the addition of all these file size)
    I missed whatever it is to calculate the size of the cube.

    I heard that the size of the cube would be in the UK.

    You can either take the full directory under the essbase\app\yourapp folder structure size
    It would be pretty much the same that you add up all the files .dat and .otl

    Has anyone turn their dimensions of dynamic Stored?  What are the problems that you have experienced?

    As suggested by the other responses, it depends in part why you change.

    As Philippe said, the potential problem is calculation order. Stored dimensions are always grouped before the member formulas / dynamic dimensions.

    If you do everything is change a dimension currently stored is dynamic (i.e. you don't change consolidation properties, or add formulas) and then you end up with a dynamic dimension with all members having a resolution of zero order. "The order of resolution" is a property that controls the order of calculation and extends from 0 to 127.

    This can change calculation results if you have existing dynamic members who also solve orders from scratch, because the solve order "tie" is broken by order reverse contour of the dimensions.

    So if you change a dimension currently stored in dynamic and it appears in the sketch after (lowest in the Outline Editor view) all other dynamic dimensions (or all your other dynamic dimension members have an order of resolution greater than zero), you're safe; There is certainly no change in behavior. If you change a dynamic currently stored dimension and there are other sides dynamic after him in the sketch that contain zero members to resolve, you should test.

    * I leave aside the extremely rare case where you set orders non-zero address stored dimension, that (unfortunately) Essbase allows to perform, despite the fact it has no effect whatsoever - orders to solve without meaning survive the dynamic conversion and become meaningful.
