'Members of Dimension' Vs 'stored members '.

This question concerns a difference I see in 'database properties' - 'Dimensions' tab for one of our custom dimensions.

For one of our dimensions in Production, we have X number of members. When I check 'database properties' - 'Dimensions' tab 'Members in the Dimension' is equal to X and also equal to X 'stored members'.

But developing when I compare the same columns "Members in the Dimension" and "stored" for this custom dimension, they have different numbers. The number in the column 'Stored members' is less than X.

While I was trying to find out the reason why I noticed that we had extinguished the ACTION IMPLIED (Essbase.cfg) property in production for only our request but we don't turn it off in development. I was hoping that it was the cause of the difference and so I did the same setting to change in the development in the essbase.cfg file and restart the servers.

The problem now is even now only synchronize the values in two columns ('Members in the Dimension'! = 'Stored members'). Is there something that I could be missing?

Please let me know your thoughts so that I can correct this difference.

Thank you.

Hello

You opened, saved and then restructured the outline.

Consult the following link:

I hope this helps.

  • Changing a dimension of stored to ASO dynamics will change my Calc MDX results?

    Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays!

Changing a dimension of stored to ASO dynamics will change my Calc MDX results?

Has anyone turn their dimensions of dynamic Stored?  What are the problems that you have experienced?

Thank you for the early Christmas present (with answers).

As suggested by the other responses, it depends in part why you change.

As Philippe said, the potential problem is calculation order. Stored dimensions are always grouped before the member formulas / dynamic dimensions.

If you do everything is change a dimension currently stored is dynamic (i.e. you don't change consolidation properties, or add formulas) and then you end up with a dynamic dimension with all members having a resolution of zero order. "The order of resolution" is a property that controls the order of calculation and extends from 0 to 127.

This can change calculation results if you have existing dynamic members who also solve orders from scratch, because the solve order "tie" is broken by order reverse contour of the dimensions.

So if you change a dimension currently stored in dynamic and it appears in the sketch after (lowest in the Outline Editor view) all other dynamic dimensions (or all your other dynamic dimension members have an order of resolution greater than zero), you're safe; There is certainly no change in behavior. If you change a dynamic currently stored dimension and there are other sides dynamic after him in the sketch that contain zero members to resolve, you should test.

Further details on the order of calculation ASO in the database administrator's Guide: ASO calculation order

    * I leave aside the extremely rare case where you set orders non-zero address stored dimension, that (unfortunately) Essbase allows to perform, despite the fact it has no effect whatsoever - orders to solve without meaning survive the dynamic conversion and become meaningful.

  • How to assign shared ASO members

    Hi all
I am not able to understand how to assign shared ASO members. Tried the same model that used in OSI, however, I am not able to get the shared member property.
    There are in our case:

In the same dimension, we have multiple hierarchies, the level 0 members of one of the highest hierarchy must be shared by other hierarchies in the same dimension.

    Some doubts are:

1 we need to allow members to duplicate.
    2. is there that a setting needs to be changed "to activate the shared members' ASO.

    Kind regards
    Krishna

    Hello Krishna,

There are three different types of hierarchies in the model of the ASO.
    (1) stored
    (2) dynamic
    (3) several hierarchies enabled.

I guess your dimension is stored type.
Just change your dimension with multiple hierarchies enabled property and follow the below three rules

    (1) not shared instance of the Member must take place in outline before all instances of the shared member.
    (2) the first hierarchy in a dimension where multiple hierarchies are activated cannot contain a shared member.
    (3) size of the stored hierarchy cannot have shared members. Hierarchies stored in a multiple hierarchies dimension can exchanged members.

  • Why sparse Dimension must always be store only?

    Dear,
Why sparse Dimension must always be store only?

Generally sparse dimensions are stored in databases BSO because their dynamic calculation is slow. You can get away with things that affect only a small number of blocks, but sooner or later, depending on the design, Essbase switches.

For example, a year or two ago, I had a customer who had a % 100 dynamic BSO cube (well, actually the accounts was dense and stored - it was as if the developer to read the SER60 and overturned the rule). The good news is that Calc was very quickly because they were just a handful of level zero blocks requiring accounts calculated in the block. The bad news is that as soon as the user started pulling combinations of data from higher level on the rare dimensions began getting really slow because Essbase was dynamically read many, many, many blocks, then add them to the top. A Summit of the recovery of the House took more than seven minutes. "But our Calc is fast! Well Yes.

That's why in OSB Essbase, you must set the most sparse dimension members as stored. There are exceptions of design, but for the most part, their storage is the way to go. Limits, Essbase BSO is very good and quick to combine these numbers.

  • Essbase error 1130001

    Hi all

I'm trying to recover an ad hoc report and getting Essbase error 1130001. I did understand what is the cause of error but not able to find a solution for this. There is a sparse dimension "HP", which has total 823 members and 549 stored

members. The top level of the dimension member is stored and the descendants of rememing are marked as dynamic Calc.

(Name of the Dimension) HP (stored) (Gen 1)

A_1000 (Dynamic Calc) (Descendant of HP) (Gen 2) (sign of Consolidation +)

B_2000 (Dynamic Calc) (Descendant of CV) (Gen 2) (Consolidation sign ~)

So, there is much more to his descendants to Gen 2 so until he starts at level 0. If I recover the spreadhseet to the "HP" Member, I am able to reteive it but if I Reteive to A_1000 I get this error Essbase. My guess is it is error of memory and is there a way I

can get rid of this error by increased cache size dynamic calc? If yes what cache settings should I increase and by how much?

All my users are assigned security to A_1000 and I can't assign security to "HP" because it is the dimension name itself would be to assign administrator rights to access this member in Hyperion planning.

    Please advise!

    Thank you!

Can you not some members change dynamic calc to stored and aggregate the data, it should at least address the issues of memory.

  • ASO retrieves inconsistent between Excel report and financial in the 9.3.1

    Hi all
I use basic ASO in the 9.3.1 in the 64-bit Sun Solaris 10 platform.

I found a problem in FR. Please any expert can help with this problem!

I have ASO database with 11 dimensions.
    -Month (time dimension)
    -Year (stored hierarchy)
    -fiscal (stored hierarchy)
    -The script (multiple hierarchy)
    -AmountType (stored hierarchy)
    -FT (stored hierarchy)
    -RC (stored hierarchy)
    -RN (account dimension)
    -WP (multiple hierarchy)
    -Report (dynamic hierarchy)
    -Express in (stored hierarchy)

We have the MDX formula in dimension of report that is placed in the financial status at end of report column.
However, for some columns/rows, we found that there is no data in the parent level but no data when I developed the dimension of the report. Or, there's data at the level of the child of the dimension of the report but no data to the level parent dimension of report.

When I check cross by Excel. I can extract the data correct at the parent level and child.
It seems that there is a problem between the financial report and Essbase EN cannot retrieve the data when I develop the column or row in HTML view.

All people find missing data / incompatible data in case of extension of lines/columns in financial report?

    Kind regards

    Hello

Have you had a glance to essbase patch to the latest version (9.3.1.3). I know there have been problems solved with perhaps MDX, it solves the problem that you are experiencing.
There are also some known problems, it is useful to check the Readme (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/esb_93130_readme.pdf)

for example MDX. When you use MDX, the Parent function does not have the value relative to all required members. The solution is to set an internal configuration option (2 FormulaOptLevel) to disable the optimization (retroreflective) [6589847 (8-648458764)]

However, because you see in excel and not in EN question can lay elsewhere, but it is always worth checking.
Also have you checked EN newspapers to see if errors are generated.

  • How to control the mapping of workflow?

    My OWB version is 11.1.0.7.0

Workflow, here's what I want to do.

When it starts, it runs 10 mapping (all are dimension) at the same time. After having managed 10 mappings,
I need to execute the mapping of fact. Even a dimension ends, then, I don't want to start the mapping of fact.

Currenlty, a mapping of dimension is stored procedure call. sometime, this mapping takes a lot of time and in fact mapping
started to cool off before the end of dimension.

How can I fix in the workflow?

I thought to fix the image of the workflow... but we do not have the option to fix the image of workflow here.

You can create it as below:

  • Detection of reversal without button

    Hi all

I made a movie that loads a lot of sub movies into itself, and I want a window should appear when the mouse pointer hovers over each film. Some of the movies just play and loop in order to get the box pop up, I just load the film and then attach an invisible button on it of the same size and position, which works very well. The problem is that some movies are interactive and have internal buttons that respond to mouse rolling on it, so if I put an external button on them their interactivity is blocked. I want to also avoid putting custom code that addresses the film parent in loaded movies so I can't address all the movies I want to load. Is there a way to keep the interactivity of the film loaded but still detects a mouseover?

Scale and position of the loaded movies change continually, but the only way I can think of key what I want is to write code that continally calculates the size and position of the loaded movies and compares the position of the pointer of the mouse with them and displays the info box if a call is detected. It would be quite complex - is there an easier way?

    Thank you.

Check that the position of the mouse against the loaded movies is probably your best choice.  If you load movies dynamically, then it might be easier for you to have the dimension information stored with as well as what other data you use to load SWFs.

  • Problem of calculation of dynamic scenario ASO

    Dear friends,

There is a request from the client to automate the calculation of dynamic scenario,

Here, the example below should be automated.

If you look at the code, the current month is seven (& Startmo is the variable for this) version is at work and the working version should be set under every month until dec in line with forecasts current-> work, and over seven months is must be real-> Final, currently, customer is updated manually for each month. As am new to Aso could someone help me get the logic right with the formulas of existing mdx or is there another way to do it.

What is already existing: the Substitution variables start month (Sep) and month (Aug)
    Period: Dynamic Dimension
    Years: stored
    Scenario: Active Hirearchies
    Version: stored

When (CurrentMember is ([years]) [FY10] AND CurrentMember ([period]) is [July]) then ([scenario]. [Real] [Version]. [Final])
When (CurrentMember is ([years]) [FY10] AND CurrentMember ([period]) [August]) then ([scenario]. [Real] [Version]. [Final])

When (CurrentMember is ([years]) [FY10] AND CurrentMember ([period]) is [September]) then ([scenario]. [Current forecasts] [Version]. [Work])
When (CurrentMember is ([years]) [FY10] AND CurrentMember ([period]) is [OCt]) then ([scenario]. [Current forecasts] [Version]. [Work])

    Appreciate all your valuable suggestions...

    Thanks in advance

I wrote this quickly without having the possibility to validate. I he would burst into pieces to understand what is breaking. I usually have foget parens.

  • Flip sign for non members at the level of zero in the Measures dimension

    Hi Essbase gurus,

I'm trying to convert dynamic hierarchy of measures hierarchy stored (account) to take advantage of the aggregation of the aso. This hierarchy has + and - bindings so I'll be converting all to + and assigning the UDA as FlipSign to load the data with - ve value in good standing of the load.

    lesson plan:

NET installs no. (value = 2)

    -> No. install reconnects (value = 5)

    -> No. install disconnects (value = 7)

    New contour

    NET installs no. (value = - 2)

    -> No. install reconnects (value = 5)

-> Not install disconnected (FlipSign UDA) responsible for value = - 7

I am facing challenge where I have no no member of level in this hierarchy needs to be presented in the form + for users of. How can I make Net No. installs even present as previous + 2?

You have until the tag all members you want sign flip, then create an extra dimension of 'View '.  It will contain only one stored, 'Enter' or 'Data' as it does not affect the size of your cube.  Then, you add a dynamic member with an MDX formula to return the sign of marked members.  Reorganize the dimension so that the 'flip sign' display the Member is the default if the user makes no selection, that is to say that the "sign flip" Member rolls up to the top.

You add a very small overhead of MDX, but it should be useful if you can do your accounts any dimension of a stored hierarchy.

  • Essbase dimension build shared members

    Hello

I will have questions and he drives me crazy!

I'm building a dimension using parent child references. The first generation of dimension puts members stored in place. The second generation implements the shared members. I am not getting any errors and still 'shared' members are not being built with shared member label. Documentation, I was under the impression that essbase should realize that they are shared and mark them accordingly during the generation of dimension?

I can go through and manually set the shared in EA after than the build... but it kind of defeats the object.

I feel I missed something just really hehe. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Russell

The only time where the outline you would save with members not be labeled as hared, is that if you have names of members in double lit in the sketch, otherwise you will get errors.  One thing you can check in the generation of dimension properties is that you do shared members is more verified and allow moves is not checked

  • DIFFICULTY level zero dimension dynamic Calc members

According to the Guide of the Oracle: "dynamic calc members are ignored in a statement to FIX." If the only member in a statement to FIX is a dynamic member calc, an error message appears indicating that the FIX statement cannot contain a member dynamic calc. »

However, I want to FIX on level zero members in the dimension of accounts: FIX("Accounts",0). If this dimension of accounts is dynamic calc (but 0 level accounts are STORED), this statement fix would work by running certain calculations level zero members account?

    JT

Yes, as long as your HOTFIX includes at least a dynamically calculated member not that works perfectly.

Either way, sometimes there may be no point for fixation on all members stored a dimension of dense - see my post in this thread (and more importantly, the post of Network54 related to it): Re: confusion of the theories of computation

  • How to load dimensions and members in the planning application

    Hi all

I'm trying to load dimensions and members in planning. I know that size of loading is not recommended by Essbase but I wanted to give it a try. I tried to load the dimensions through rule files, but it threw an error that the "members do not exist in the database. Is this an indication that the data may not be loaded at all the in the planning your application through Essbase.

Thanks advanced for all the answers!

If it is a planning application, you must load the metadata/dimension planning first. You cannot load the metadata directly to Essbase as it will be overwritten when you refresh planning.

You can read the documentation to understand how planning works. Planning is an interface that sits on top on Essbase. However, Planning metadata are stored in database tables and it is would be synch with Essbase via Hyperion Planning refresh.

In order to load the metadata to the planning, I suggest you to open a session on planning and attempting to manually build the dimensions first to know how the planning interacts with Essbase. You can load the metadata in planning thanks to:

    1. manually
2 ODI: You will need to reverse the planning your application and then use it to load the metadata
3 schema utility load on planning server.

Remember, all the planning is done via interface planning interviews and not by Essbase.

  • Storage for Non option sheet dimension level members: store vs dynamic calc

    Hi all

What is the general rule regarding the options of storage for leaf-level members? I think that it should be dynamic Calc under normal circumstances and have in store if we are going to load data in the leaf level no. Is this correct? Are there other aspects while defining members?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Amol

Don't forget to consider whether the dimension is dense or sparse. Dynamic calcs generally much higher level work on dense dimensions as long as you are not data entry in senior level members. High level dynamic calcs in sparse dimension CAN work well, but more often on smaller dimensions. It really depends on what you pass in your cube. On scattered large, higher levels are almost always, but it's one of those areas where you can sometimes bend the rules.

Also, be sure to consider the calc of the implications of doing something, stored or dynamic.

  • HOW TO LOAD DIMENSIONS / MEMBERS IN ESSBASE ASO REQUEST

    Hello

We are running Oracle EPM 11.1.2.4 and created with success the planning application help EPMA workspace, it is necessary to create a reporting application. We have created a new application of ePMA workspace as essbase ASO and have dimensions of base construction and members of epma itself, the need is to have the same dimensions / members in the application (planning and ASO). My question is:

How to bulk load dimensions / workspace members in Essbae ASO using EPMA / EAS?

    Thank you

    Concerning

    Shahrukh

You must use the same method to load the members that you already use in EPMA, if it's a pure Essbase applications and metadata should be loaded for EPMA and not through the Regional service.

If you already have applications of EPMA, then you would use the same method.

    See you soon
