Changing keyboard settings

How can I change my keyboard so that when I type "and"letters such as e and u can I get them directly from the keyboard?

OMG, I finally found the answer!

I contacted HP support by phone and they gave me the following links:

http://Office.Microsoft.com/en-us/Word-Help/keyboard-shortcuts-for-international-characters-HP005186562.aspx

http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/search/search?searchterm=how+to+enable+to+short+cut+using+special+symbols&CurrentScope.ForumName=Office&CurrentScope.filter=&askingquestion=false

The second link, I was able to find the following document:

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/306560

Which describes the exact layout that I wanted. In order to obtain foreign language characters (for example ' and e = é) the default language (in the region and language in Control Panel) must be changed to English (United States) - United States-International. If you do not want the foreign language characters (for example ' e = ' e) then the default language must be English (United States) - U.S..

I think that my settings have changed when I said to Microsoft Word to make the default language in English (Australia) so I just need to change the default language - in the region and the language for English (Australia) - United States-International (Australia) rather than English US.

  • Is it possible to change the settings via the keyboard?

The screen of my laptop is broken, so I use a VGA cable to project the screen on my monitor. I factory reset my phone, so all my settings have been reset to the default value. What I was wondering is, is it possible to use my keyboard to change the settings so that I can project my screen on my monitor? And if no, what is the estimated price to replace my broken laptop screen?

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft community. I will certainly help you with the problem you are experiencing.

To project the screen on an external monitor, press Windows + P. By pressing this combination, you can switch the output between the monitors.

  • Ability to remotely change the settings of the BIOS on the Thinclients T610?

    Hi all!

We use thin clients HP t610 for digital signage and we have deployed more than 40 years in the field. They seem to work just fine for our needs.

After a few failures caused by construction crews an i've had phyiscally visit each sign to reactivate them. Since then we have deployed the t610s with the ' after the loss of power = on "setting in the BIOS. This seems to fix the problem and they light up immediately once the power is restored. Now that we have solved our problem, I would like to change the client deployment light setting as well.

Is there a way I can change the settings of the BIOS on the t610 remotely? Or do I have to visit each change them manually and the machine with a keyboard? Some are installed in small spaces which are no easy access to remotely change would be better.

    Thanks for your help!

Depending on what OS you have on the t610 you can download BIOS utilities for this on the HP website: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/public/psi/swdHome/?cc=us&cc=us&lang=en&lang=en&sp4ts.oid=5226817&ac.admitted=1404312731554.876444892.492883150

There is an included cmd line tool that captures the BIOS settings that you can edit in a text file and deploy it to other units remotely via HP device for example Manager.

  • "Change plan settings" opens whenever I click on enter

I made the mistake of letting my little 1 year old daughter plan with my computer for about a minute.  Now every time I press Enter a window with the following path appears:

Control Panel > power options > change plan settings

    Help!

You have a programmable keyboard?  She could have accidentally reset ENTER to redirect to this location.  If so, it's just to reset the keyboard to factory settings (but's done it according to the manual - it varies depending on the make and model) and you should be fine.

If it does not or is not the case, see this article on the remapping of keys: http://vlaurie.com/computers2/Articles/remap-keyboard.htm.  I don't know if the program can be used with only a mouse (or without the Enter key), but it is possible.  I am sure that the problem can be corrected in the registry if you can get there (even if I have to be honest and say that I don't know how to do that, or rather that the entry refers to the Enter key).  To do these two steps, try to start in safe mode with networking (hit F8 continuously during booting until the menu and see if the enter button is working.  That would be great.

If that is not the problem or does not solve the problem (perhaps because the Enter key still does not work in full safe mode) then try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started (I suspect it's probably where you actually have to start because I'm not sure of the keyboard mapping program or soft keyboard).  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.  You may need to use the CD to do if F8 does not press enter. How to start the CD are described below.  I hope that the button functions correctly enter this mode, because it will be VERY difficult to do any troubleshooting without it.  All the keys she might have reset, it was certainly the worst.

If the system restore does not work, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not work, try to start in safe mode (repeatedly hit F8 key so that the start and go in safe mode with networking).  Then we will check some of your system files:

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well it will complete with no corruption, he couldn't fix it (if there is such corrouption post here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.

If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918884.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side.  I don't like this goes away from doing just that a 1 years within 1 minute, but to be honest I don't know how to do what she does if I had hours of research on problems - it will be interesting to see how it works for later reference (although I am sure that you feel completely different now).

I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem (probably the system restore or repair/upgrade system).  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.  Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.  You have me very curious at this stage.

Found this on another forum.  It may be useful

There is no user interface, out to change the registry manually.
Fortunately the Windows 2003 Resource Kit is a handy utility called
"Remapkey.exe", which will make changes to the registry for you. You can
Download Remapkey as part of the tools of the Res Kit from here:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
CAUTION: none of these Windows 2003 tools are tested or supported on Vista!
However, Remapkey works great, the installation Code Scan Mapper works exactly
the same Vista as in previous versions. Only difference on Vista is you
you will need to run as administrator (right click on the EXE, choose Run as)

  • Windows 8 - not able to access 'Change PC settings'; Unable to create a user profile. Store/Start menu does not work.

    Hello

Recently, I'm stuck with these issues:

    1. not able to access 'Change PC settings' - when I click on it nothing happens.

2 start menu/Store does not work - I am using the profile of the user admin Start Menu is a blank blue screen with just the user name appears at the top right. Store is completely scratched too.

While the guest user has all the tiles in Start menu/store.

    3. cannot create a user profile - I wanted to try to create a new user profile and check if the store is working properly. When I click on 'Add a new user in the laptop settings' nothing happens.

I tried the system restore, but it does not solve all of the above. Is there any solution to these problems without having to reinstall Win 8? I don't have the installation discs.

    TIA!

You can use the restore or refresh options without going in the settings of the PC.  Read the instructions carefully, it says:

If you can't identify, or use laptop settings app, you can access these rather safe mode options. On the login screen, click on the power icon, and then hold down the SHIFT key on the keyboard while you click on restart. Now keep update until the next screen appears.
