  I had satellite and passed to verizon dsl. I have a hub 16-port and a Linksys wr54g2 plugged into the uplink port. I plugged the DSL into one of the ports on the hub and everything was fine except the linksys could not get a connection. The verizon DSL has the gateway 192.168.1.1 address, which of course was the same as the linksys. When I attampt to the ppp, it wants a username and password. The problem here is that the DSL connection is always on and does not require a connection so I'm never able to connect in this way. The verizon DSL router assigns 192.168.1.15 DHCP thru 192.168.1.47 then how should I configure my linksys?

  1. Unplug the router on your network.
  2. Connect the router to a single computer.  Enter 192.168.1.1 in your browser.
  3. Let the empty user name and use admin as password.  On the settings page to change the 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1, then click Save.
  4. Out of the router and reconnect the router to the network.
  5. You should now be able to access router with no problems

• Failure of intermittent internet connection using Vista on Verizon DSL

  I had problems with Verizon DSL stopping randomly and does not to return to the top for an unacceptable period of time. Oddly, it doesn't happen on the Vista machine at home. None of the Mac has this problem.  If I remove the machine network Vista and replace it with a XP machine is also no problem.  It's on a cable network.

  I think I can find some interesting information. What I did was as much the DNS entries my network connection that I could find. I have used google, OpenDNS, DNSadvantage, Verizon, Norton a few steps from my web services and everything else I could find. There certainly reduce questions but had some interesting effects for example one of the URLS pointing to obsolete the secondary DNS information.

  To enter these click on "Start"-> "Control Panel"-> "Network and sharing Center", click on "Manage network connections", double click on the active card, click 'Properties', double click 'Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Internet', click on 'Advanced... '. ', go to the "DNS" tab, click on "Add..." "and enter the values.

  This is not a complete solution. Sometimes, still, but not as often. Some sites still bring the network to its knees.  Sometimes she lets wait for the connection to be reborn and run a WHOIS on the site that has the problem of one of their DNS to add to your list. I put it to the top after google's servers and it seems to work most of the time.

  I went through all of the so-called "patches" of this problem without success.   What is the solution?  It seriously makes me batty.

  Got several things for you to try:

  1. How old is your router, you should consider updating the firmware on your router. Some older routers do not sit will be Vista (or 7) and require an update of the firmware.
  2. Update the driver for your NIC directly from the manufacturer's website. You'd be shocked to see how many sons of connection to network on these forums are caused by a newer driver.
  3. No chance that you are able to get the issue of duplicate mode safe?

  4. If the problem does not occur in Mode safe mode, go to a clean boot and locate the item causing the problem.

• Daily Verizon Mobile Broadband

  OK, here's the scenario.  I have stormchase everywhere in the Plains north and also here i bis.  Now, when we're coming or going we use mobile internet to rely on the updates and software radar.  Internet access is very important when outside.

  Now, I saw on the Dell site that some laptops are able to use the Verizon Mobile broadband network and there is such a thing called a Passejour to 15 per day.  It's something that I would probably use some days or some areas.  I am having trouble finding anything more that I just say if, it says that I should be able to configure this place directly from my laptop, but I don't see how at all.  Any info on this would be very useful... BTW... I use a Dell Inspiron 1720 if it helps.

• Verizon DSL and wrt54g

  Problems to install my linksys wrt54g v8 router with my DSL internet connection from verizon. On the step where the computer checks the internet connection, I get error message saying. Impossible to detect internet connection or something like that. I tried to enter in the command prompt and type ipconfig enough and ipconfig/renew, and then ipconfig/all and tried again but still the same message. I also tried off the modem and then restarting him. And restart the entire computer, but it does not always work. Was wondering if anyone else has a problem with verzion and linksys router. Also if you have encountered this problem how did you fixed? Should I try to set an ip address static or which would be just a waste of time? If you have any other suggestions then feel free to give me all the information that you can. I'm not a beginner on computers, so I know exactly what I'm doing if I'm not a complete expert so I'm a little confused on this subject. Thanks for reading.

  Guys, I'm not a magician on this stuff, but I have a 700wx I used on Verizon and I was transferred out of the country for the province of Saskatchewan, Canada.  The local supplier here is a company by the name of SaskTel and I was in their store and they sell this phone.  The guy there told me I have to give up this phone and buy a new one if I want to use it on their network...  What the hell is going on here?  This is supposed to be a smart phone and it's software all the ducts.  Why can't I just have this thing about the new provider?  Looks like it should be a no-brainer...

  Unfortunately, we are talking about CDMA network smartphones and not network GSM smartphones.

  A you have purchased a GSM smartphone or mobile phone, it would have been very easy to unlocked do (remove placed and fixed by the initial carrier subsidy lock) so that you can use any SIM card on the phone on any GSM network.  For CDMA carriers and networks such as Verizon, Sprint, Bell, Telus, etc., it is not that simple.

  Although it is technically capable of being used on another network CDMA, CDMA carriers refuse to activate and simply allow the use of another company because they force you to sign these contracts in the long term with them.  With almost all North American carriers CDMA refusing to activate the competing phones, they can continue to maintain this practice and force you to stay with them.

  Your best option is to sell the 700wx for Verizon and get a SaskTel phone or see if you can get a GSM smartphone.  Your mobile PHONE choice for a Windows Mobile device would be a Treo 750 or 850.

• To share a printer on a home network wireless

  Recently changed to DSL broadband.  After connecting a new a new router Belkin Wireless 'G' for the Time Warner modem and going through the steps to set up a "secure" wireless, two laptops were (and are still), able to connect to the internet.

  Now for the problem, computer laptop # 1 has a printer HP Deskjet 3845 hard wired for it and try as I have, I can't find a way to have the portable # 2 go to the printer.  I used the HP following steps, always with the same impasse recommended / no connection:

  -Laptop # 1, selected share the assigned a 'name' suitable for the printer in question

  -On laptop computer # 2, selected, add a printer that has generated the "add a Printer Wizard"

  -Choose option 2, a network printer, or a printer attached to another computer

  -Then selected middle button, connect to this printer (or search for a printer)

  I tried this option in two ways:

  -By specifying the name of the printer that is assigned

  -Without specifying the name of the printer that is assigned

  When you specify the name of the printer, you receive the following message; Windows cannot connect to the printer. The name of the printer is correctly entered (it wasn't, and I double checked and tried several times), or the specified printer has lost its connection to the server, (is not a server / do not understand / know how to react to this comment).

  When not to specify a printer name of the Assistant entered a mode of "searching for the printer", ultimately showing a symbol,(resembles >-)<, followed="" by="" the="" words;="" microsoft="" windows="">

  Can someone shead light on my situation?

  The first thing to do is to disable your firewall while you are setting up. That can save you some grief. Turn the firewall back on later.

  I'm helping someone with a verizon DSL modem older (guess this isn't wireless vs) which connects to a tower of Windows, then usb out of the tower to a unit of wireless to connect to a recent Mac laptop version. We would like to get rid of the tower and the verizon usb "hockey puck" and simply use the modwm > wireless Airport express > laptop.

  Either the type pure or bridged modem and you use customer PPPOE over the WAN to the Express.

  Or

  You have a modem router and you will implement the express bridge, with creation of a wireless network.

  HOWEVER... I'm NOT either of those without call verizon and control on the price of a new wireless adsl router modem.

  ADSL has changed little in 10 years... but the equipment does not last forever. It could just be the perfect time to move.

• Broadband (download) speed in Win7 x 64 installation slower than expected

  I have Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and 32-bit Windows 7 Pro installed on the same desk (separate hard disks), and I noticed that in my 64 bit version, the DSL speed was lower most of the time.

  My Verizon DSL subscription guarantees 1 megabit per second (128 kilobytes per second), or so should be.  I ran a test of speed to cFosSpeed.de on my OS and my laptop Win8.1.  My Win7 64 bit registered 542 kilobits/s (67.8 K / s), and my Win7 32-bit recorded 943 kilobits/s (117.9 K / s).  I tested my laptop, and I get 939 Kb/s (117.3 K / s),

  There is nothing in my task manager that indicates that something in my machine, or any software, is cannibalizing my speed broadband in Win7 x 64 and I have Kaspersky running, and he has not picked up what could be the cause.  So, how did my broadband is running at full speed in my Win7 32-bit configuration, but only 57.5% of the speed in my Win7 64-bit installation?  And everyone knows about such a large difference between their installation to 64-bit and 32-bit installation?

  I simply started clean my machine, and I get the normal broadband speed in my Win7 x 64 environment.

  I allowed each of my services to software one by one, and it wasn't long to find the service software interfering with my broadband speed.  It belongs to my cFosSpeed Service system, software that came with my card mother ASRock Z77 Extreme6.  The software is XFast LAN, v6.61.1880.

  I suspect it was because of a bad installation of the driver of the motherboard, my DVD software.  I deleted the software, then reinstalled, and so far, I get a normal speed for my x 64 environment.
