Character style to ignore the outline

Hi all!

When you create a style of character (InD CS3) on the characters of color of the dialog box section outline and fill shows like question marks. I guess that means that the character style will not change the outline.

However, I can't find a way to RETURN to that State "do not change" after doing something else. I solved the problem by synchronizing this InD file with another that has the unmodified style so that the plan does not change when the style is applied.

I'm missing on this dialog box which allows you to set the style of back on NOT changing the contour?

Thanks a bunch!

  • Table of contents, problems in applying the character style

    Hi all

    This is my first post, I checked if there was already something similar, but I can't find anything so I'm asking here.

  • Is it possible to update a character style with the changes I made to the selected text?

    I use InDesign CS5 on OS X Yosemite.

    I don't really know the best way to put it, so I hope that this scenario makes sense.

    Let's say I have a document with a few styles of different characters, and on one page of the document, I decided that I would try something different for a title that has an applied character style - this style is applied to all titles at the same level on the rest of the document. I do not adjust the style of character, however, but simply adjust the setting in shape in the upper character Panel. After playing for awhile, I have decide that I'm really this new setting in shape and want to apply as a result of the document, but now I don't have a character for this style.

    I know that I could just make a new style of form the title I have changed, then go back into the rest of the document and apply it to other styles. However, since this title still has the original style applied (just with overrides), I would like to know if there is a quick way to update the style based on the new formatting?

    I hope that makes sense.

    Thank you for your help in advance.

    With the substituted text still selected (you will see a + next to the character name of the Style in the character Styles Panel), choose the Style to redefine in the character Styles Panel menu.

    Well, it depends on what small caps you want. If it is small capitals, you can create it with:

    myDoc.characterStyles.add ({name: "SC", capitalization: Capitalization.SMALL_CAPS})

    Otherwise, if you want to OpenType Small Caps (which may or may not work, depending on the font you're using)

    myDoc.characterStyles.add ({name: "SC", capitalization: Capitalization.CAP_TO_SMALL_CAP})

  • [JS] [CS3] Apply the character Style to the first word

    I'm a noob that Javascript is concerned, and I expected a little guidance.

    Here is my scenario: I have a book that was composed in a single file; the main content is in a story. I want to select the first word in each block of text on each page and apply a character style. My goal is to use this character style to indicate the page breaks in the XML document - I maps to a specific tag style.

    So far, I have this poor specimen:

    myDocument var = app.activeDocument;
    myPage var = myDocument.pages.item (1);
    var myTextFrame = myPage.textFrames.item (0);

    If (app.activeDocument.stories [0] .paragraphs [0] .words [0]! = null)
    myTextFrame.paragraphs.item (0).words.item (0) = .appliedCharacterStyle
    myDocument.characterStyles.item ('foo');

    I know, I did not implement any kind of loop again (which will be more complicated given that there will be some blank backs, etc.). What I try to do in this is to select the first word in the first paragraph on the second page - which it does in reality. It's the first paragraph of the second begins on the first page, so I select that word on the first page, second page.

    As I said, a lot of work to do but a bit of help on getting to the right word would be most appreciated.

    Well, you were on the right track, but the "myText" test fails if there is no block of text on a page, because it fails a line earlier

    > var myTextFrame = myPage.textFrames.item (0);

    just before that, you must test the number of blocks of text:

    If (myPage.textFrames.length > 0)

    {

    ... your stuff...

    }

    Use it only if you are absolutely positive that there is just a block of text on each page! A slightly better way would be to always loop on each textframe:

    for (frames = 0; frames

    {

    var myTextFrame = myPage.textFrames.item (frames);

    .. etc.
    }

    in this case you don't have test his first length (the loop will not be executed if there is zero text blocks).

    [Grumpy] Since you have only a continuous story, an even better way would be to loop on texts related to this single story executives. You must identify the story somehow, and I usually click on the text cursor in the one that I need:

    monarticle = app.selection [0] .parentStory;

    or you can rely on the fact that the story begins as part of text on page 1:

    monarticle = app.activeDocument.pages [0] .stories [0];

    (I think this should work.) Then, each frame of the story until the end can be found in the table

    myStory.textContainers

    which are usually text blocks. Make a loop on them to help

    for (image = 0; frame)

    {

    myTextFrame = myStory.textContainers [frame];

    .. etc.

    }

  • The list of the outline width can be changed?

In the menu window > Type > open character in the character Panel. Select the character Style. It should be noted the line of Normal Character Style. In the Launcher (small triangle in the upper-right) select the character Options of Style. A new dialog box opens where you can define what the police want to be your basic policy. Close and save. Restart HAVE and create a new document. It must use the new font you have chosen. Drag it with the Option key pressed on the default swatch in the Panel of graphic Style (a thick line will give an overview of the sample) and liberation. Save the file. When you start a new file, this will be your default background/outline.

  • BUG: Character styles does not, plus sign and redefine style gray

    Pages, Keynote, and Numbers, the feature of character styles seem to be broken.

    When I select a character and want to create a new style of character formatting, the menu will not let me. The sign is not clickable. This is clearly a bug and should be fixed because it annihilates completely the reusability of the layouts for Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

    In the screenshot below, I select (highlight) a character that is part of a paragraph style with the style named body, displayed in the form of body + in paragraph styles.

    The changes to the formatting should let me save in the form of a character style, but the sign is grey. Redefine the style of the menu item is grayed out as well.

    This behavior started during a few Mac OS x versions.

    What can I do about it?

    Using Pages v5.6.2 on OS X 10.11.5.

    As long you select text including the existing character style is zero, the ability to add (blue sign) a new character style is denied. Just as this is true, whenever I changed the fonts or the attributes of a letter, a word or group of either, the possibility to add a new character style became available.

    Apple did not have a special version of Pages for me, and I can't reproduce what you're proclaiming as a BUG.

  • Character styles do not work in Pages

    I'm on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid-2014, retina), running 10.10.5 (14F1021) and run pages v. 5.6.1

    It's pretty simple: I'm searching the internet apple documentation and Web sites.

    To the title of the pane 'format' to the right of the workspace, there is an option below 'police' called 'Styles of character ".  There is no way, in this latest version, to create a new character style.  No selection there will allow you to press the symbol '+', and there is no menu in the menu bar you option to create a character style.

    Despite trying several ways of dozens to understand this point, there is no work around.  I think it's a bug.

    Please fix this Apple?  I love the pages, but boy, this can be frustrating.

    Thank you!

    I use Pages on El Capitan 10.11.1 v5.6.1. I can define a character style.

    Try the following:

    1. Type a word or two. Select them.
    2. Press command + T to launch the Panel font
    3. In the toolbar, click the selector bar and in this menu, choose color
      1. Choose red
      2. Unique, choose the menu bar (you now have a single, red strikethrough)
    4. Selected always your text
      1. Click Character Styles picker
      2. The + symbol is now blue
        1. Click on + to add
        2. Change the new name of red bar, then press return to set.
      3. Click on any character Style
      4. Click the character crossed Red style to test.
