  I just created a quote indented using ITC Garamond Book Italic with left and right margins altered. Well selected, I clicked on the + symbol in the paragraph, named the new Styles pop-up style Indented quote and you press return.

  Always selected in the body of the document, I applied the body paragraph Style to restore the normal formatting and then with the text again, the paragraph of citation Style indented - who worked as expected.

  If you want that your new Style of paragraph to survive across documents, you will need to save it in a model. You can also have two different Pages, documents open in Pages v5.6.1, and copy/paste the custom styles between the selected text in these documents by using the Format menu.

• BUG: Character styles does not, plus sign and redefine style gray

  Pages, Keynote, and Numbers, the feature of character styles seem to be broken.

  When I select a character and want to create a new style of character formatting, the menu will not let me. The sign is not clickable. This is clearly a bug and should be fixed because it annihilates completely the reusability of the layouts for Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

  In the screenshot below, I select (highlight) a character that is part of a paragraph style with the style named body, displayed in the form of body + in paragraph styles.

  The changes to the formatting should let me save in the form of a character style, but the sign is grey. Redefine the style of the menu item is grayed out as well.

  

  This behavior started during a few Mac OS x versions.

  What can I do about it?

  Using Pages v5.6.2 on OS X 10.11.5.

  As long you select text including the existing character style is zero, the ability to add (blue sign) a new character style is denied. Just as this is true, whenever I changed the fonts or the attributes of a letter, a word or group of either, the possibility to add a new character style became available.

  Apple did not have a special version of Pages for me, and I can't reproduce what you're proclaiming as a BUG.

• Paragraph styles does not work in ID CS6

  I created a newsletter in InDesign CS6. I used the ballot before but now when I try to assign the style for the text is not working.

  For example, I have a normal defined as Calibri, regular, 10pt, but when I paste my text from Word into a text box and select the paragraph style Normal text comes in Adobe Garamond Pro, pt 100. All the styles I try are the default for this setting. I tried to paste history in Notepad first to remove all formatting from Word and then copied in InDesign with the same result.

• WordPress 3.1 buttons will not work in pages

  Using FF 3.6.15 and Wordpress 3.1 I can get the java buttons to work on posts, but not on the pages. In other browsers, they work very well.

  I tried to create a few simple lists of names with recessed contact information but the character Style I created does not want to add the dash that I specified in the details of the text. The original lines I've used has the dash, but I had to manually add the dash on others, designed with the same style.

  Short answer. Use a paragraph style.

  It is generally quite rare to use styles character to Muse. In the vast majority of cases you want consistent formatting of an entire paragraph, so a paragraph style is used. Character styles are for formatting a range of sub in a paragraph, usually for emphasis. However, on the web these ranges sup pointed out are almost always hyperlinks, so they are formatted with a style hyperlink rather than a character style. So in the end, paragraph styles are extremely common and useful, as are the hyperlink styles, but character styles are quite rare.

  I use ID CS3 on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.6.4. Oddly enough, my paragraph styles no longer work. I have several of them, but when I create a block of text, typing in the beginning, the font style is false and there is simply no answer to choose one of the styles. Didn't budge. I don't know what happened. Tried to quit smoking ID and open again, but the same question.

  Text settings make you without a text cursor active become the default values for the new text in the document (or to the new docs if nothing is open), including by selecting styles.

  With no text cursor active, change the selected character style [none], then the text of the problem and do the same thing. Applying a syle paragraph has no function. If you see a sign after the name of style, it is that a local change of setting in the form applied which can be eliminated by opt-clicking on the name of style.

• Character Styles panel not refreshing after adding character styles

  Anyone know how to get the Illustrator character Styles Panel to refresh after programmatically adding new styles by calling CreateCharStyle()?

  Currently, the user must save the document and reopen that Illustrator refresh list of character within the user interface style.  This is obviously not ideal.

  You can reproduce this problem in the code example running the snippet text SnippetRunner and then Styles running of the extract from CreateCharacterStyle.  Also successfully, this code example adds a new character style but is unable to update the Panel character within the user interface Styles.

  
  A note: the AIATECurrentTextFeaturesSuite has an Invalidate() method.  I tried to add this call, but he don't seem to have any impact.

  This was a bug in Illustrator since the new text engine was introduced. That I produced it as a beta bug in at least two versions, but no luck in getting it still not fixed

  If you want to give the panels a kick, try the kATEDocumentResourceChangedNotifier with the AINotifierSuite of broadcasting. In my opinion, that's why it update.

  I have three buttons (as pictured) on the sheet and I made an action to one of them to choose a color as overlay gradient. I get by the group 'layer style' in the tab 'gradient overlay '. Then I copy the layer by recorded action style and paste the style buttons, but run so the action does not seem to stick these remaining buttons styles. 'Degraded style' is not changed, so green gradient overlay does not meet these reddish buttons.

  I wonder if I can copy and past several layer styles through the 'actions' I wanted to create a model with set of buttons and change the color of them with a click. Great idea, but who cannot yet accomplish.

  Among the interesting features that I used for a while is the ability for a large number of Apple applications, such as Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and Photos to share content using the "Send a copy" feature (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) or 'Share' (Photos). Unfortunately, these sharing services are no longer works for me in any application, and they have not been for several weeks.

  So what happens is, for example, when I'm in Pages and I select 'Share' icon in the menu bar and then "send a copy" and I select "Mail" (or all the options on the list besides), it gives me a dialogue window asking me the format I would like to share (Pages PDF file, Word Doc etc.). When I choose an option, a process that happens in the background that is supposed to send the file to Mail, open a new message, and then add the file as an attachment. However, in my case, the process seems to get stuck somewhere because the Mail opens not with a new message, but Pages continues to think that he is trying to send the file via mail because all options of sharing are grayed out. So that I can continue to work on the document, the sharing feature is no longer available and that I must leave the Pages and then relaunch the application. This same behavior happens in Numbers and Keynote trying to share a document, and this regardless of the application that I'm trying to share it with.

  This type of thing happens in the pictures when I select a photo and try and hand using Mail, except in the case of Photos, I can't continue to use the application and I need to force quit and raise in order to work again the application.

  Another note, which I think is related, is that when I get an email in Mail that has a calendar attachment (file here) and I double-click the attachment file, it will open the calendar but the new event may not be listed or available to add. I enter the information manually.
