  • Unable to creat image of recovery for C720

I can't create a USB for my Chromebook C720 recovery image. If I try the C720 itself, it hangs at the stage of download.

I tried to use the Linux Google's script, but discovered that there is no recovery for a "PEPPY C6A-V7A-I7S" image - the device hardware ID on recovery thr screen.

Internet search has been fruitless so far. A that someone managed to create a recovery for the C720 USB?

    Thank you.

    Hi YukiNagato,

You can try it on another computer? I use a Windows PC but on a Chrome browser, you install the Chromebook recovery utility and here you can get your chromebook out of the list or you can finish the model and it will download and create a recovery disk. This drive (USB or flash) will be available on the recovery disk, personal data will get formatted.

If you want to make sure that you have the right model, you can connect the machine by pressing ESC + refresh + Power to bring you to a white screen with an exclamation point. The model will be listed below.

  • HP 14 Chromebook q000ed [after several powerwashes and a USB key recovery is crashed/restarted]

    HP 14 chromebook q000ed

    purchase date: November 2013

    - - -

A couple of months chromebook began to crash/restart. At the beginning it was a few times / week, then it got worse to the point I had 2 powerwashes in one day and hangs / reboots even guest mode!

After the restoration of the many powerwashes and a USB port, I got another problem of crash/restart. So the problem looks like it is material.

I paid for this product and I can't even browse the internet. There are a few Q & a in support of google here.

    What advice you get?

P.S. the recent crash/restart happened when writing this thread! Had to write this new!

  • HP Chromebook 14: Fix how much cost?

I have a HP 14 Chromebook. When I try to start the laptop it says "Google Chrome OS is missing or damaged. Insert a USB recovery or the SD card. I tried the USB recovery thing, but it gives me an error "unexpected error has occurred." I spoke to someone from support.google.com and he said it was a hard drive problem, and he told me to contact someone at HP. How much will cost to repair my chromebook? Should I send? or just can also order a hard drive if my hard drive? Thank you.

Make an another Chrome recovery flashdrive and try it.

This is not a business unit of HP. Sorry, but we wouldn't have any idea of how much a repair out of warranty.

Contact HP directly and ask for repair quotes.

I went to the site from Google and downloaded the linux script that creates bootable USB support. He passes the verification step, then fails with an "unexpected error". What is an answer like that? Did you read my post even? I even offered that you log on to the computer itself.

Of course, I created the USB correctly. Do not insult my intelligence!

It's okay, anyway, we sent the Chromebook at the Google store and return our money. :/

  • Questions about the transition to a Chromebook

Please forgive me, because I know little about computers. I am wanting to buy my first chromebook as I am tired of the problems with my laptop Windows 7 Basic. Tried to upgrade to Windows 10 and it fried my system. I have a laptop Sony Vaio series dear and he isn't even came with a restore disc, they expect you to go online to solve problems, but you can't get online when this kind of problem occurs. In any case, I wonder why you need to have a restore disc or whatever for this chromebook? I thought that this was the value of a chromebook or is it in case the computer dies as my Sony done or something?

Then it is a good model and can you tell me if it would perform better than the...

    Hi MorrisGary,

I moved your post because it is different from the issue discussed in the other thread. I hope that gives you more visibility.

First of all, I would like to address the issue of recovery media that you had with Sony, not that I want you to return back, but because that they affect both the Acer and I would rather you have the best information information vs which is best for us to give you. Windows based PC does not come with recovery media. Acer systems have a recovery partition that allows to restore Windows directly from the hard drive. You can perform backups at any time (as long as the system works).

Passage to Chromebooks, the Google Chrome team has done a fantastic job in making sure the ChromeOS is accessible from many different paths. I'll link you a their below, but it is so quick and simple the ChromeOS is very light and I hear by is that there is not much to it. All the customization and improvements are linked to your Google account. It takes minutes to reinstall the ChromeOS if you encounter a problem where it can take nearly an hour to reinstall Windows.

Insofar as a recommendation, we have several in our shop. If I had to buy a new Chromebook today, no doubt (in addition to my obvious bias to Acer ) would be the CB3-431. It is 14 "vs the 15" you, but it as a better screen (1080 vs 768) with more storage space and storage. It is also available with many good reviews on Amazon: http://us-store.acer.com/chromebook-14-cb3-431-c5fm

    I hope this information helps!

  • Chromebook scrolling is jerky and hesitant

I had my chromebook less than two weeks, I was in love, but these last two days pushed me crazy.

Scrolling is jerky and freezes for about five to ten seconds, he does constantly seconds out.

I use a mouse, but it was fine for the 10 or 11 days before it started. I tried to use the buffer, but it always does.

I found on another forum someone with the same problem and they said to check applications and extensions added. I added no new, I even took a little exsiting apps that I is not enough, but it always does.

He also said disconnect and go until invited, I tried and it was much better.

My chromebook is an Acer, model cb3-111-c4gd.

If anyone has hints or help, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi croths,.

So the step of logging in the guest account is a great first step. The underlying idea is that you wouldn't have any of your personal applications or settings loading and can isolate if the problem is related to the software (operating system or hardware). Whereas it was better, but not perfect (?) the next step would be to do a wash of 'power' that will rebuild the operating system and allow you to start over. It is fast and takes just a few minutes, but if you have personal data you want to save, you have to press this first.

Here are the steps to do a powerwash: http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27685

Next step would be to perform a full recovery of the system, you can download an OS to a flash drive and install it in your Chromebook. Here are the steps: http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27637

Finally, if you still having problems I would suggest contacting support as it may be a hardware problem, that we have for you.

    Hope this helps,

  • Refurb 710 Chromebook, Google Chrome OS missing or damaged.

I just picked up one of Groupon, eventually the post office today.  I couldn't wait to turn on a play with it, but to my surprise I am met with a screen that says "Google Chrome OS is missing or damaged.  I tried a recovery after the instuctions on the help page of Google Chrome OS, but I can't seem to do anything.  I rebooted, removed the battery, put in the recovery disk... nothing seems to move.  In my search for a solution, I came across a YouTube by Acer on the removal of the Panel to disconnect and reconect a wire on the inside that will fix the problem... but I am skeptical to do this, because this requires to remove a sticker that says that the warranty will be void.  Even if the video claims it won't.  Suggestions?

    Hello..

Try other recovery steps before reinstalling the hard disk.

First try to reset the default Chromebook. Here is the Internet link: Reset Chromebook

If you cannot be reset, you can create a Flash recovery for Chromebook drive: Recovery USB

If the recovery of these two steps fail, you can you reinstall hard drive according to the instructions in this Internet link: reinstall the hard disk

  • Is there a recovery for an Acer C720P image, or should I use the 720 recovery image?

I would like to create a USB stick recovery, but am unable to find an image for my Acer C720P. May then jeutiliser the 720 generic write on the USB recovery image I want to use for the recovery / emergency purposes? Any help apreciated.

    Hi globetrotterdk,

Yes, the creation of the image in the Chrome operating system or by using the recovery utility of Chrome on a PC base with a Chrome browser will allow you to create a backup of Windows. The version of Chrome OS will be determined by what you and your material, so no reason to choose anything and for recovery of Chrome utility, they are trying to simplify this away so many different types of chromebooks, use the generic C720 will work for you.

  • Chromebook 14 q003sa: Chromebook screen problem

Hi, my daughter has a Chromebook about 18 months, this morning, when she turned on them was a lot of vertical scratches to the bottom of the screen, which looks like a blank page open on half of the screen and a black spot. Everywhere where I look at it mentions powerwashing machine, but the problem I have is that I can not connect as that part of the screen is too messed up and I can't click on it. I tried without going through the page of connection by doing, ctrl, alt, shift and R and I see about the box that says "powerwash" on it and I click on it but then something else has just joined! Grrr! its very frustrating. Does anyone have ideas that I could try, maybe restart somehow without having to click on the screen? Thank you very much

Had planned to use the HDMI port to connect an external display (even a TV high definition) for the Chromebook? By doing that you will be able to isolate the problem to the solution of output video or LCD of Chromebook display.

You will also be able to powerwash the Chromebook if you are able to see a normal browser.

Another option is to create a recovery key and use it. This is one of the options described on the web docuument of Google Chrome at the following address.

    https://support.Google.com/Chromebook/answer/1080595

Take a look at the document of support following on display problems to see HP web if the display looks like one of the images.

Is the Chromebook still under warranty?
