Cisco Advanced Wireless LAN field specialist

Hello.. I've passed the CCNA certification recently and wanted to get the specialist wireless but cannot find any info how to go to this topic - Cisco press didn't review guides for these apparently - or am I looking in the wrong places... Thanks in advance

I have not looked in the last year or so, but the Cisco Press books for Wireless suck well enough (in a Word). They are not very useful for exams and were too old / obsolete as practical references.

IMO, the best general guide / reference is book 3 of the planet for Certified Wireless Network Associate (CWNA) which is published by Osborne.

They have other more advanced books (CWAPE, CWSP), these are all the study guides excellent for their respective tests (non-vendor-specific) and are also useful for reference later when you start to forget small details.

Discover the EM, most libraries that take tech are likely to have em.

Good luck

  • Version of the software Cisco Wireless LAN controllers & Licensing (controllers HA and APs Adder & licenses basic questions)

In fact, one of my clients has two Cisco 5508 wireless LAN controllers installed in a site and back up and running now. one of them running software version 7.4 and the other running software version 7.6. Each of them works as a stand-alone controller with number of access points. Based on this scenario, answer below concerns:

    • Can we transfer all active licenses at one of them and use it as a HA free of charge?

    • Up to which version of the software, we can improve these controllers without any extra charge?

    • What we must do if we want to move two of them to version 8 software?

Waiting to hear from you soon about my concerns.

    Here are a few notes:

-Only licenses Adder can be reheberges to another controller. Base license cannot be rehosted unless the unit is THAT RMA would be.

-Too long the WLC has a minimum of 50 access point license, so that the unit can be used for HA N + 1 or AP SSO.

s ' it use SSO of AP, the WLC must have connections to subnets for layer 2 even due to the IP address of the interface.

HA N + 1 can be used in sites different especially if the subnet do not align

  • Cisco NAC does support Wireless LAN?

    Hello

I know that Cisco NAC support LAN wireless. I sent myself with various brands of autonomous APs. These work very well using the in-band, out-of-band mode.

However, Cisco has been mentioned for Cisco AP, with Cisco switches and Cisco NAC, out-of-band is supported. I tried this today and it's or Cisco's fake, which is highly unlikely, or I have not configured the portion of the NAC or the access point Cisco correctly, which is most likely? I wonder where am I wrong? Please someone advice me on this?

    Hi Jean Claude,

You can now do out-of-band with wireless deployments, but you must have a Wireless Lan Controller manage your APs. You can't do it with autonomous APs.

The guide below will for most of the configuration:

  • Are Cisco 1130ag APs compatible with Cisco Wireless LAN Controller virtual?

Are Cisco 1130ag APs compatible with Cisco Wireless LAN Controller virtual?

It's... AP compatibility depends on the code that runs on the WLC. This is a matrix that is a good reference.

  • extensible wireless LAN

can someone tell me what is needed for a wireless to the high-grade as it says on my lap top wireless lan upgradeable, ilink (ieee 1394) have'nt an idea what it means and tried to read the manual but I just more confused
    Thanks in advance
    Pete

    Hello

I think you're a little confused... IEEE 1394 doesn't have to do with wireless.

Take a look at this description that I took on the Net:

«A very fast external bus standard that supports data transfer rates of up to 400Mbps (in 1394) and 800Mbps (in 1394 b).» Products supporting the 1394 standard go under different names, according to the company. Apple, which originally developed the technology, uses the brand name FireWire. Other companies use other names, such as i.link and Lynx to describe their 1394 products. »

"Its scalable architecture and makes them flexible-to-peer topology, IEEE 1394 ideal to connect devices ranging from hard drives and printers digital audio and video equipment time real treatment requirements for multimedia on time."

So, I think you should ask Toshiba support on the meaning that they really with this 'extensible wireless LAN.

Furthermore, what is the model of your laptop?

    Kind regards

  • Problems with Realteck 8187 B wireless LAN adapter

I am running Windows XP and since a month started having problems with my Wireless LAN connection. The installed adapter is a Realtek 8187 B. When I start the connection opens briefly, then begins to show the low connectivity with yellow dots under the icon on the status bar. Sometimes I have connection then connectivity closes its doors as soon as I pass my home page.

Other times it falls back after about 5 minutes. I can usually clear it by restarting the computer sometimes twice. What I need to download an updated driver.

    Thanks in advance

    Jamie

    > Do I need to download an updated driver.
I think you should check the portal Tosiba WLAN and install the latest version of the driver Windows XP Home edition. Do it first and check the functionality.

Toshiba WLAN portal page is - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/

  • Issue of WPA on Intel (r) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B

    Hello

I'm trying to use WPA authentication using Tecra S1 of my Toshiba with an integrated Intel (r) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B. I read that this adapter supports WPA. I installed the latest drivers on my Windows xp SP2, but the OS allows me to select WPA authentication in wireless properties.

    Any help is welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Wlan encryption standard you will find in WLan properties.
You must select SSID and click on properties.
If it you will not find any option of WPA so this WLan miniPCI card doesn t support this encryption option.
Note: This option depends on the material and not on the software. You cannot enable encryption by updating all the drivers or any SP.

  • Satellite Pro A100 - problems with wireless lan networks

    Hey all,.

I have a problem with my laptop. It is able to connect to a wireless lan network, but is not able to properly - use this conection means: he do not get connection to Web sites or download data...
I already have the latest drivers, but it's not helping...
You have an idea? Could this be a problem with my wireless LAN card? What can I do?

    Thanks in advance

    DOM

Have you tried a BIOS update?
This you will find also on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

You have disabled all the security features for testing?
I mean hidden SSID, MAC address filtering and so far. Maybe that's the problem.

Check also if the router has the new firmware. You can find it on the site of the factory

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - Wireless Lan cannot be activated.

All afternoon - I have just my hands on a Satellite Pro 6100 and am impressed to bits with it.
The only thing that is bothering me is put on the wireless LAN doesn't work. Here is what I tried:

    (1) use the switch on the left side of the laptop - push back for "wireless WE"-no led or an indicator.
    (2) use the FN and F8 for the shortcut - key no joy.
    (3) install all the drivers available.

It is to have no chance at all. I currently have Windows XP SP2 on board and have lost count of the restarts. I looked at the page update SP2 and found a registry setting, but that does not change. I'm pretty sure that there is a wireless card installed - I found the antenna, but I would appreciate some advice please if anyone has experience this, or is somewhat an expert at this.

Thanks in advance to you all,.

    Select this option.

It worked before or since when did that happen?
You could take a look at the Device Manager if the wlan device is entered correctly without no exclamation point.
Correctly installed all the drivers and updated? Maybe a BIOS update can help.

Of course, the laptop was equipped with wlan? Not all 6100 built in wlan.

  • Question of Wireless Lan L410 (0616-A18)

    Hi all

I used my cell phone for more than two years with ZERO complaints, until my hard drive died a few days ago

I bought a new Intel SSD and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7

I'm having a strange problem which is that I'm not able to install the drivers for the wireless LAN card, I am sure that I have the realtek one and I used on my previous installation realtek driver and it worked perfectly, now I find three types of Intel drivers and a Thinkpad driver, none of them moved correctly map

the map appears in Device Manager under other devices as a "network controller".

is it possible to know the exact model of the card to get his driver on the manufacturer's Web site? or any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

    Solved using the driver below

Thank YOU for guiding me to this page on the realtek website
