Cisco Wireless router model WRT120N guard give up Internet connection

My wireless router will work for 6-8 hours, and then remove the connection to the internet.   I switch the modem and the router several times to re-establish the connection.  I'm also using a Netgear Access Point.

I use:

Charter high-speed Internet

Motorola Modem

Model Cisco WRT120N router

Parameters

Mixed-mode

Channel Auto width - 20 MHz or 40 MHz

Security - Personal WPA2

Disabled SSID broadcast

Firmware Version v1.0.04

Automatic connection Type - Conf DHCP

Beacon interval - 50

Fragmentation threshold 2304

RTS threshold 2304

All other settings are default.

When I unplug the modem to the router and plug it on the desktop I have internet service.

The connection is also falling only on wired or wireless?

Try to update the firmware on your router.
Connect to the computer with the Ethernet cable to the router.
Download the latest firmware from the site Web of Linksys and save it to your computer. Open the router configuration page. Click the Administration tab and switch to the sub tab upgrade the Firmware through the firmware file that you have already downloaded and update on your router.
After upgrading the firmware on the router, it is recommended that you must reset the router and reconfigure. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait 10 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure.

  • CISCO RVO42 problems to connect to Internet and continues to give up internet connection

I just bought for a new router in WAN VPN Cisco RV042 Duan (Small Business Series) Firmware version 4.0.08 - tm (released January 14, 2011). 1 WAN is configured to obtain an IP automatically add and 2 WAN is TRP with the username and password provided by our ISP. The two WAN configured for load balancing mode (auto). State of two WAN is connected, but most of the time only adds WAN 1 shows the WAN IP, DNS, etc. While WAN 2 Add sometimes shows WAN IP, DNS, etc, but most of the time 2 WAN is equal to zero all the. When this happened, I click on connect and sometimes it worked, but most of the time he cut it on the connection and everything will go back to zeros.

1 WAN works too, but most of the time he gave up the connection to the ISP. I continue to live lost internet connection.

I don't know what the problem is with my setups, the firmware or the router. Attached are snapshots of the basic configuration of the router.

I'm disappointed because I thought when I bought this router that it can provide me with a more stable connection but after three days of usage, I have more difficulty to connect to the internet and my boss scolded me already. Help, please!

    Hello Gary,.

My name is David Aguilar, and I'm a support with Cisco Small Business Support Center Engineer. Sorry you are having these problems. Several things:

First of all, you will want to upgrade to the latest version of the firmware (version 4.1.1.01). It can be found here: http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=282414010&softwareid=282465789&release=4.1.1.01&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

Second, if you use both WAN interfaces, you will need enable HTTPS protocol binding. If (encrypted) HTTPS traffic is distributed between the two WAN interfaces, it can cause instability when you browse to secure Web sites. To avoid this, you must direct all HTTPS traffic on a specific interface.

To do this, go to system management > Dual WAN and select HTTPS as the service. Enter your LAN range as the IP source address and the 0.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255 as the address IP of Destination. Simply bind HTTPS to the WAN 1 or 2 WAN.

You can refer to the following screenshot:

  • WRT54GS2 and Siemens ADSL modem - give up Internet connection

I have a problem with the internet connection. I have a Win98 Office connected directly to a DSL - SIEMENS Speetstream 4100 modem. This connection works well.

I had a (old school, blue and black) WRT54G wireless router connected to it which enabled me to use my laptop Windows XP Home. I upgraded the router to a WRT54GS2 so now I lose the internet connection every minute or so while connected through that. The connection between the modem and the router goes down, not connecting to desktop (wireless) or the laptop. And if I switch to the direct connection through modem, I get a solid and reliable connection to the Internet.

Is there a problem with the ADSL of SIEMENS modem and the Linksys router plays well together?

I tried ipconfig/release and / renew on my laptop and desktop, I disabled all computers, modem or router and put power back in the right order: Modem, router, desktop and laptop.

Here is the output of the ipconfig/all command, when my laptop is connected directly via the ADSL modem:

Why the new WRT54GS2 loses internet connectivity when a direct connection through modem loses no connectivity and the former was reliable?

    Thanks in advance.

Your ADSL modem is in Bridge mode. He made the PPPoE connection and then transmits the IP addresses, etc. via DHCP on the connected device. Several people seem to have problems with these modems and different routers.

I suggest you to that you reconfigure the ADSL modem in full bridge mode (i.e. the modem really works as a simple modem and does not connect to the internet itself). Full bridge mode, you should be able to configure your router with PPPoE and connect directly to the internet. This should work better.

If the ADSL modem is smart enough it can automatically switch in full bridge mode if you configure the router for PPPoE.

You should see the difference in the DNS servers that got the router. Half-bridge mode modem ADSL seems to assign its own IP 192.168.0.1 as DNS server address. If you connect directly to your ISP, you should see the IP addresses of the DNS servers of your ISP.

  • Win 7 guard dropping my internet connection

I recently upgraded to Win 7 and it will not keep an internet connection. I reset my router, I updated my drivers, I ran the convenience store that says 'the default gateway is not available' and then he said: fixed it, but it will not be a few minutes before it loses the connection. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Amrita,

Thanks for your quick response. However, I tried what you suggested and it did not work. When I entered the IP reset command command promt that he told me to run in Administrator, which I am. Another thing I read somewhere that these instructions were pretty much everything up to Win 7. Another piece of useful information is I hope I have internet connection so long I just do e-mail and watch sites, etc.. Its when I try to watch a video or anything with a lot of bandwidth that it loses the connection down to local only. And I know it has nothing to do with all the material, because he ran very well when I had XP, then I upgraded to Vista and it worked fine then, but as soon as 7 is out I've updated for her and that came when the trouble started. Once again I would appreciate help. Thank you.

You see a failure of the device driver for your device connection. You can try the Vista compatibility for this Mode, or looking for Win 7 drivers.

  • RALink rt5390r wireless guard give up the connection

I have the Office of CTO H8-1540 8.1 Windows running.  This machince has been bundled with Windows 8 and I experienced the same behavior on the two OS'.  I have no problem getting a connection, but I can't keep the connection.  I have a RT5390R of RALINK 802.11bgn card with the version of the driver from 5.00.37.000.

This machine and master connects to an Actiontec MI424WR Rev I have router.  On a wired connection, I get 75Mo down and 37MB upwards.  The wireless connection is only 44.5 MB donw and 38.7 upward.  Troubleshooting of Windows usually fixes the problem if I'm on the PC.  The connection failed twice when entering this question on the Web site.  I would also add that I have 2 other laptops HP, who do not have this problem.  I have also 3 Android devices and 2 Apple products that do not have questions to stay connected.

HP has replaced the RT5390R wireless card in my destop and returned the PC yesterday; 4 June 2014.  The PC has been on my local network 24 hours at this point, which would be longer that I never saw him standing in the past of 23.5 hours.  I am considering whether the resolution.

For those past the warranty, I would suggest adding a product of reliable wireless alternative to replace the RT5390R.  If your PC is still under warranty, contact HP before the expiration of the warranty.

  • WRT160Nv2 guard give up the connection

I've been running this router for about 6 months now, and now the problem becomes unbearable. I installed LELA on all my computer last night finally and I see when my connections drop it now. I can surf, all right, and I start to get page not found or not connected to the internet error.  I'm currently running 1 Wired, wireless 3, XBOX360 1.  The XBox NEVER drops connection, NEVER drop the CPU compared to Yahoo Instant Messenger and surfing capabilities let computers and page timeouts. Before installing LELA I had to unplug and reconnect the router every time that he did. Now the duty rate is about 4 to 6 times an hour. Then someone please help me, I'm totally lost. I went through the technical support of comcast already and they say that, because I can get on the game and messenger service that it is most likely router problems.

    There are several work around this problem, and I hope others after their solutions. I had exactly the same problem with my router and here's how I solved it;

First of all, I downloaded a new version of the firmware, but it doesn't stall now. Secondly, I did a reset / / 30/30 30 router, here is the complete procedure

    1. connect the computer via a cable to the router cat - make sure that you can 'see' the router via a browser @192.168.1.1

    2. with the power to the router "on", press the button of reset for 30 seconds - do not stop pressing to go to step 3

    3. While pressing the reset button, unplug the power supply of routers, wait 30 seconds - you don't need to go to step 4

    4. While pressing the reset button, plug in the router to the power source, wait 30 seconds and release the reset button and wait for the router to return online

    5. access to the router through the web interface @ 192.168.1.1 - admin is the password (you probably know )

    6. install the new firmware (administration tab > firmware update)-if successful, you will see the reviews, if not repeat steps above.

    7. Repeat steps 1-5

8 access to the new router via web interface to reconfigure your settings for your network and your ISP and leave all the others in mode by default - except one, on the configuration tab, change the Keep Alive: reminder from 30 seconds to 20 seconds time.

Before you implement this, my router dropped the connection for laptops wireless several times a day, because I did this procedure, not only once!

  • WNR3500 guard give up the connection in California

OK, I called TWC cause I keep losing my connection to the net, I have a router WNR3500 w / the latest firmware, I can't find anything more recent, I use Netgear for years, said TWC this only affects those whose routers Netgear in California, I run cable Cat6 and have a 1 Gigabit connection, my modem is a Motorola SB6121 Docsis 3.0 modem and my connection is 20/2. NETGEAR is working on a fix?

The abandonment of the connection, they told me applies to all routers Netgear to California on the TWC system...

OK I think this can be marked as resolved, I had a tech call me BC, he crossed the router and I settled on changing the settings DNS to Open DNS for the primary (208.67.222.220) and Google for the scondary (8.8.8.8), almost 2 hours have passed and I think it's a success, no new firmware is required , is for a good all in a new router, probably not before that let's go, I'm sure this will be my last post in this thread.

  • Satellite M60 guard give up WiFi connection

An M60-144, I provided one of my clients has problems with its WiFi connection. It will be ok for 5 to 10 minutes, and then suddenly will drop the connection. Turning off the WiFi and back on again remakes the connection and everything is very well for 5 or 10 minutes.

The access point is a Draytek Vigor 2600 G and there are other laptop (Portege R100, R200 Portege and Tecra 9000 Tecra A2) that all connect to the same access point to the same place without any problem. The AP employs 128-bit WEP encryption runs in mode 11b and 11g of mixtures. Any other potential sources of interference, for example the DECT phones have been rejected.

The laptop has all the updates of Windows applied and drivers the most recent site. For me, it screams of a hardware problem with the wireless card, but wanted to know if there are other suggestions first?

    Hello

I read a few topics on similar problems and in most cases, the update of the WiFi pilot solves the unstable Wi - Fi connection. As far as I know on the Intel Web site you will also find a newer version of the driver. In my opinion, you should check this option.

My computer said at the outset that it is correctly connected to the network but then immediately lose the connection. Sometimes it will say that I limited the connection, but the strength of the network is always excellent. Computers are my roommates are working properly. Initially, he says that TataraTmp is the network of choice. I tried to delete this network that I am still unable to connect.

    Hello

I guess that it is a wireless computer.
    ------------------------------------

    Maybe this can help.

Assuming that the signal is strong, and that there is no noise in the electrical environment (http://www.ezlan.net/wbars.html ).

Uncheck the box to the NIC of energy economy (I.e., do not leave the card save energy).

There may be some variations on where is the energy saving setting.

Here are a few examples, YMMV, look around your systems.

Check the support site for the manufacturer of the computer and make sure that you use the latest drivers.

If the support site has a newer version of the drivers and installed current ask drivers the most up-to-date drivers use this method.

Download the drivers and extract them to a folder of your choice.

In Device Manager, right-click on the adapter.

Click Update drivers and choose her browse my computer for drivers.

  • Server to the House Acer Aspire H341 guard give up the connection and I can't access the files.

The server worked flawlessly for 2 years.  Now it the intermittent connection.  When I try to back up a computer on the server it the backup starts but stalls and I get an error message saying that there was a problem with the software of server connection.  I reinstalled the software of connection to server with no improvement.  Restart the server generally means I can access the files again, but it will still drop the connection.  The same problem occurs on all five connected computers.  All running Windows 7 family 64 or Windows XP.  I did have a backup successful PC in two months. I am desperate for help.  Had the server in the computer store and they could not in the absence of it.  They had to install the software of my original disks, so I wonder if it's an automatic update (including the computer store would not, by returning to the original disks).  Everyone suffers from the same issue?

Unfortunately he wa a sign of a failure of network card.  As it was an integral part of the unit, replacement was more expensive than the original server.  So I bought a new server.  He has managed to move the hard drives on the new server.
