Cleaning disc.

I would like to know how to delete the mail retrieved from the hard drive. There is so much I won't even try count. I have Windows Mail. I have remove the recovered mail folder (there never anything in it) and it comes back. Now the hard drive is covered with empty recovered mail files.  Any ideas?

You have empty mail files recovered or recovered the mail files?  All have the same name (or part of a similar name - they will probably if they are folders, but not if they are files)?  Do an advanced search for all of these files/folders and then in the search window select them all and elelete (make sure you do not include your current position or the folder items that are removed in the process - you may need to deselectt them manually).  That should get rid of all duplicates all at once.  If they e-mail files, you may need to search by file type and new carelul to exclude you emial curent files and folders because they will be included and must be deselected manually and essentially follow the same process.

See the following article on research in Vista: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/75447-search-options.html.  I ' ts faily basic and probably does not cover what you need to know to make the research you are tyring to do.

Here is an article on research options in Vista: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/75451-advanced-search.html.

Here is an article on the use of advanced query options to improve searches in Vista (I think yuu might find your answer in this one): http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/158288-advanced-searches.html.

Here is an article with a number of advanced search options and how format the queries that may be helpful: http://windowsteamblog.com/windows/archive/b/windowsvista/archive/2007/05/09/advanced-search-techniques.aspx.

I hope this helps.  If not go back and I'll try to find more resources or attempting to do myself to see if I can understand how do.

Good luck!

To access the system log, select Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, Event Viewer, in the list on the left of the window select Windows and the system logs. Place the cursor on the system, right click and select filter current log. Check the front of the error and click OK and see you only reports errors. Click header to sort on the Date and time. • What is the best? Cleaning disc of Windows or CCleaner

I would like to clean my operating system on a regular basis, to remove entirely "removed" files, which is in the bin, Internet research, etc. I've used Windows' disc and CCleaner, and CCleaner cleaning always seems to take much more time, to follow a process on Windows Disk Cleanup that can take 5 minutes, more than an hour about CCleaner! Is this because CCleaner is much deeper? It seems to be something called "passes", which I don't see on disk cleanup.

I understand it is a Microsoft Web site, and therefore the loyalty may require says nothing bad about Windows compared to CCleaner disk cleanup, but I would like a straight answer.

    Thank you

Disk Cleanup will do what you need.

In all cases could simply empty the trash

  • Temporary files cleaning disc

    Hello

I just ran the disc cleaner after using my computer for a few years. The thing is my temporary files proves to be 273 GB. Check the forums I have not seen a number of as much so I'm just curious to know if I should remove it or not? Thank you

If you have not run this in a few years, this number is possible.  Before deleting I would at least establish a restore point

In General, if they are temporary files, they are safe to remove

  • How have the guest OS disk cleaning disc space come on for the host operating system hard drive?

    People,

Hello. I use VM Player 3. The OS is Windows 7. Guset OS is Windows Server 2003.

Because the host OS Windows 7 C drive is nearly full, I need disk cleanup for drive space in Guset OS Windows Server 2003.

Guest OS Windows Server 2003 VM hard drive parameters:

    Size current 92.5 GB,

    Maximum size of 150 GB.

I use Disk Cleanup tool to clean C:\Document and Settings\Temp\ and temporary Internet Files\ administrator to get 32 GB of disk space. Now my computer in Windows Server 2003:

    Used space: 59.2 GB

    86.2 GB of free space

    145GB total space

But when I check again Windows Server 2003 VM hard drive settings, its current size is 92.5 GB and is not afraid to 59.2 GB after cleaning. Host operating system Windows 7 disc does not come more disk space after cleaning.

My Player VM VM-> settings is not a function of "Shrink" and the program does not "vmware - vdiskmanager.exe" file to run the function of 'shrink '.

    My question is:

How to get the approximately 32 GB (92, 5-59, 2 GB) of disk space happen on Windows Server 2003 VM settings and drive hard host operating system Windows 7?

    Thank you.

    People,

Hello. VMware Tools has tab Shrink to reduce the virtual disk. But the free disk space hard host should be larger that the size of the virtual disk you are reduced to shrink.

The problem is solved by myself. Thank you.

  • cleaning disc in windows 10

    Hi team!

I have a HP Pavilion G6 with Windows 10, Windows 7 upgrade, with which I originally bought it. Want to ask - is there a reliable program / application can I use to clean my laptop without deleting anything important? Just for free space. For example on my Android tablet I use Clean Master, and it's pretty good.

Questions excludes disk cleanup on the device :-)

    Kind regards

    Hey,.

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum.

The first choice is the popular CCleaner from Piriform

It's reliable choice. Once you start, you have a variety of options to clean. Never had a single problem with it. Simply select the options desired to "clean up". I would like to know if it works for you.

When I run Disk Cleanup it cleans my compress files?

You have compressed files?  I would recommend AGAINST it every time * if * you mean those that it offers to compress.  If you mean that YOUR files compressed - why would it "clean" those?

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.
