clone of production unix database to test the windows database

Hello members,
What is the best way to clone a solaris db about 80 GB to Windows 2003 server production?
Can do datapump exports while the production db is online?

Let's take a step back. What are the requirements and what do mean by the word "clone"?

"Clone" usually involves a physical copy of the database, so the physical structures are identical on the source and the cloned systems. This would require RMAN, if this can be problematic, because you're on 10.2 and the endianness of a Solaris (not x 86 Solaris) and a box is, in my opinion, different Windows.

You can make a logical copy using DataPump. This is a point (actually several points in time by default) copy of the data, but the physical structures will change (index will be built fresh, the data will be physically reorganized, etc.). A logical copy means that the destination database is completely separate from the source, so no hope of the application archive logs, etc.. And generating export requires some input/output relatively heavy on the production database server while it is up, which is also problematic.

  • I had to reinstall Windows XP Pro after a hard disk crash. Sent product key Microsoft form with the Windows disk is invalid.

    Some time ago I bought a computer with Windows XP pre-installed.  I have not received a CD with it.  At one point, during an update Windows online, I learned that the copy of Windows was not authentic, and the place I bought it from was out of business.  I then bought Windows XP Pro Microsoft online and went through the update of product with the Windows product key update tool and ran OK from there.
    Well, my HDD recently crashed, and I started to install the Windows XP Pro purchased CD on a new hard drive.  The installation was asked to enter the 25-digit product key, I found that the unique product key sent with the CD has been a key 20 digits in this format; Product key: SKU:B7P - 00005 KEY01:xxxxx - xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-CD2.   (The x are just for the format).

    What do need me do to be able to install my real purchased copy of Windows XP Pro?

    The numbers you enter are not the product key. Contact Ms. online where you bought the CD or try some of the links below:

    Hello

    I use my windows 7 Home premium 32-bit for almost 3 years and recently I want to improve my current windows Home premium 64-bit because I want to install more RAM for games. I have intel i5 processor, so install 64-bit should not be a problem.

    However, the problem is, I don't have that the geniue windows 7 home premium 32 bit DVD when I bought my PC that has the 64-bit DVD version has not been given.

    Good thing is, I found the link to the content of Digital River from microsoft to download the iso image of 64-bit Windows 7 Home premium 3 GB.

    Hey Buddy,

    As you can read in other threads here in the forum, the product key on the lower side of your laptop can t be used with other versions of Windows. It is only for Windows preinstalled Toshiba.

    If you install Windows on a Microsoft disc, you must use the product key you got with the Windows disk.

  • The laptop, I recently got from a friend to solve problems to ask the windows validation impossible to do, it doesn't have the. He says a friend of his installation the OPS for $25, I wonder.

    Data are listed below. Is there another way for me to address this isue with the original disc POS?

    Hey,.

    Just thought it should be mentioned that the lost product key of installed software (legitimately) on upgrades of machines pre windows can be retrieved from the file created 'windows.old' on the C: drive, using key finder software. It saved me forking out good money for buying again the likes of office etc because I had lost the key of product from the purchase.

    Product key - where to find the Windows product key

    If you bought a computer with Windows preinstalled would a certificate of authenticity (COA) sticker somewhere on your computer. It will say what version of Windows you have and will also have an alphanumeric code at 25 on it - this is your product key. If it is not on your computer look in your documents or on any case of CD/DVD that was included with the computer.

    If you purchased Windows 7, it should be included in the retail box.

    If you purchased Windows 7 online and downloaded that the key should be sent to you by e-mail.

    It should work with 32 bits of internet explore.

    new information just been was discovered on this issue. Here's the post-it on the WGA forums:

    Lately, there are considerable problems with validation in all areas of Microsoft, when you try to download the material that requires validation.

    Finally, the Forum Poster Tech Mgr found the cause and a solution!

    When you go to a download page such as for Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for Windows Vista (32-bit), you get to a page
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=14

    If you click on the continue button on the page, MS currently sends you to the wrong place.

    The solution is to change the existing URL by adding 'real validation' instead of 'details' in your URL of the download page
    so for the one above.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=14
    becomes
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/download/genuine-validation.aspx?ID=14

    Similarly
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=3941
    becomes
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/download/genuine-validation.aspx?ID=3941

    .. .and your download becomes visible, and you can click on the download button...

    A big thank you to Archbishop Tech for interpretation of this out!

    Yes the sticker of the product keys match the diagnostic report. I've been running this product for more than two years and now all of a sudden it is not valid?
    I recently had a problem with hard drive with this machine and had to reinstall the system and restore data from a backup. Is it possible that this has some how changed the PID at the origin of this problem?

    If I have no choice but to buy a new OS can spend to Win 8 or will I run into a question?

    As I said before, "No matter how long he ran 'okay'..." »

    Copies MSDN work very well - until Microsoft discovers that they have been used in a way not scheduled (they are sold by unscrupulous people who probably to sell at an attractive price in comparison to other copies - a lot of people don't care about questioning why they might be cheaper.)  Others may sell at the same price and make more money before disappearing).

    You have an MSDN copy.  Your PID has not been changed by restoring the backup.  ;-)

    You can try changing your product key of Windows 7 than on the sticker:
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/osproductkeys/HT/change-Windows-7-key.htm

    Then try to activate by phone:
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/18715-activate-Windows-7-phone.html

    And come back to report to what past.

    What operating system do you have on the laptop before? You can get a Windows 8 upgrade for that - but I would not honestly - recommend it because the difference is quite obvious and you haven't checked your software and hardware is supported on Windows 8, I know. My recommendation for Windows 8 is to use * if * the system you have came from the manufacturer with it pre-installed. :-)

  • Refresh the production database to test the database with RMAN

    Hi experts,

    I want to refresh the production database to test the database with RMAN. You can help me please how to do this.

    I saw a lot of blog on the internet but not got a satisfactory answer.

    Reg,

    Thomas verrma

    Thomas

    Follow these steps

    1. on the server target

    a. Add entry in oratab

    b. create init.ora for target db copy of source

    c. If you use catalog

    connect to the RMAN catalog, you can use the double option to clone run below

    one.

    RMAN > Connect target sys /@trgt

    RMAN > Connect Catalog rman /@catalog

    b. check that the backup connects to the source and to collect information on the elements of backup that contains the backup controlfile

    c. restore the controlfile

    RMAN > set DBID = xxxxxxxx (DBID of the source db)

    RMAN > run

    {

    allocate channels ch1 type parms 'SBT_TAPE' = 'ENV = (NB_ORA_CLIENT =, NB_ORA_SERV =)';

    Restore controlfile from "/ c-DBID-xxxxxxxx-00';

    }

    Once the controlfile is restored, you can mount the db

    change the editing of the database;

    run

    {

    until ' TO_DATE (2014-SEPT-10 10:00 ', MY - DD - YYYY HH24 ') ";

    allocate channels ch1 type parms 'SBT_TAPE' = 'ENV = (NB_ORA_CLIENT =, NB_ORA_SERV =)';

    restore the database;

    recover the database;

    }

    ALTER database open resetlogs;

    stop immediately;

    bootable media;

    nest target = / = dbname

    change the system db_name set = scope = spfile;

    stop immediately;

    Startup mount

    ALTER database open resetlogs;
