  It is not a new type of fraud, but it IS a scam.  MS does not give that kind of information, and they do not call users.

  Yes, it is a complete and utter scam.  Assuming that you don't give them access to your computer, you're probably pretty course.  They are the so-called "canvassing" - selection of lists of random phone numbers and try to sell services and/or access to your computer.  You did the right thing, hang up on them.

  Phone calls from people with barely passable English so hard to understand. They are supposed to represent Microsoft and demand to go to the line so they can check the preformance of my Windows System.

  When I challenged him name and a number, who they were and that I had installed Norton they were insistent they were Microsoft form and all the PCs in my house are currently as being at risk.  I informed this was not convenient as about getting out and they said they'd call me back on Monday morning, but to be careful using our pc of this weekend.

  I have no answer or call due to grammatical mistakes in the letter and my suspect character!   I received a phone call from a company called Instapccare saying that my branch of Windows has expired and someone hacked my computer with my I.P. address, and they want me to buy one of their packages to remove errors and warnings and fix what can cost up to $400.00 more. Is this company related to Windows and it is legitimate or are they a scam. Please inform me as soon as possible because Instapccare says that my computer may crash at any time. I never heard of Windows Security expiring before so I don't know what to do. Thanks for your help.

  I just had a phone call from a person who said that it is Windows (non-Microsoft) and said I have viruses that have made some of my windows certificates expire and he would help me to restore the certificates so that I can delete the infected files.  "" I followed some of its directives, i.e. you press Start key simultaneously with the letter e R and typed in "inf junks.  It said that all of the files that were listed are infected files.  He had me so close that window and type ammyy.com who brought up a remote coelio.  I told him I was hesitant to do it, but in order to varify that it was, I would call him back.  He gave me the 'john' and phone 905-588-7942 # name.  I hope that it has not reached way triggers a virus in my being gone that far.  Any suggestions?
