  No it should not be modified in TARGET. in the file system TARGET will remain same as source.

  One of the issues that you may encounter when you do this clone is addressed in the following note:

  Other that the above, you should be able to run the clone if you follow the steps described in the note and consider the restrictions.

• Test installation of EBS 12i on PC

  I would like to install trials of Applications Oracle EBS 12i on my laptop and so I am collecting information if can do this at all and I need some additional hardware/software. I've read part of the installation guide, but I want to clarify some things. Maybe someone positive to negative experience with this.
  
  So - I intend to use the HP laptop with Windows Vista Business (64-bit), CPUs 64 bit 2core, 4 GB of RAM, I have a few 20 GB of free drive (for the temp directory) and I intend to install EBS on drive external HARD, which connects via USB 2.0 to my laptop, it has 250GB of free space.
  
  So, the questions are:
  -There is EBS requirement for 32-bit applications. I guess - 64-bit Windows can run as any 32-bit application? Up to now, I found no documentation that Vista is not suitable for EBS, ins't it?
  -J' read, that EBS will have 3 houses of the Oracle, but I already have my present DB 10 g/houses/Oracle and install appserver 10.1.3. Should I remove these old facilities before? I intend that they will be down during the passage of the EBS. There are ambiguous information about the houses of the Oracle. Some say that there is nothing more than the installation directory, but some say that some homes of Oracle are not compatible on the same computer. I have the bad experience installing the Developer Suite 10 constantly failed with the message of another House of Oracle already is in the path. Or do I have to change an environment variable Windows that say I have these old houses?
  - And usually - suits my environment scheduled for EBS?
  
  Well - for me, it would be really good to install EBS on VM VMWare Windows 2003 server, but I suppose that - it will be slow, even though I have my virtual machine with some 2 or 3 GB of RAM and even more because I'll have to put this virtual machine disk external DRIVE connected by USB.

• Oracle EBS 12.1 cloning vs EBS DB update

  Hi friends,

  Yesterday my project architect asked me to apply the patches in some test environments.

  As part of the prerequisites, I asked ad_applied_patches. I found that all the patches are apllied for test environments.

  I know about cloning. If clone us some environments, so all patches were applied in this environment will be available in the target environment.

  But my architect said that databases only EBS are current production, no application not cloned layer. Therefore, apply patches in any test environment.

  I don't get what he says.

  We can update the EBS database, but

  Is that it will work with existing application layer?

  Is that we need to apply the patches in the test environment?

  Could someone please clarify my doubts.

  If you do a refresh of the production database, you will need to apply the patches in the test environment, if the patches are not applied on the production.

  I always get error when cloning time 2 CRP in the same server instance due to duplicate exist in the OraInventory folder.

  How to avoid it? My solution is to manually delete the entries in the xml file that is pretty hard to do because you might accidentally delete the wrong pairs of lines.

  Can I use the deregistration of control?

  For example:

  If none of the mentions above Oracle Home are already enrolled in the Oracle inventory, you can run the following command to unregister or detach that Oracle Home:

  $ cd /u02/r122/fs1/FMW_Home/oracle_common/oui/bin

  I can clone EBS 11.5.10.2 Linux (RHEL 4) for Linux (RHEL5). Source and target texts are 32-bit.
  
  The database is 10.2.0.4 that running 64-bit Linux RHEL4. The target DB server is RHEL 5 64-bit.
  
  If so, can someone tell me what are the possible things that should be checked and validated before cloning. Some documents of metalink referring a similar requirement would be great.

  I am cloning EBS 11i, AIX 5 L on the same server.
  Currently we have on the server @user oracle EBS 11i PROD.
  I want to clone to EBS 11i TEST on the same server, oracle2 @user.
  Things I've done:
  1. run autoconfig
  2 run preclone programs
  3. copy appl and db of the file to the new location for the user oracle2.
  4. run the user oracle2 cloning.
  
  But I got the following error:

  First pre-reqs is to check the version of java installed on the server.
