Cloning vCener Server

Hello

We have to move our vcenter server, what is virtual, to a different cluster within our virtual data center.  As I move the server to a different cluster and moving his vmdk of different data warehouses, it does not appear that I'll be able to stop this server down to perform the migration, because it is the server vcenter and then I'll lose access to vcenter and will not be able to see other clusters when the server goes down.

Rather than shut down the server, can I 'clone' the server while its still powered on?  So before setting up the clone of the vcenter server, I got stop that to avoid any conflict of hostname.

would this work?  Are there problems cloning a server, specifically vcenter server, while it is still powered?  Or is it possible to move the server vcenter better/more safe?

Thank you

Maybe you have some future problem if you clone vcenter.

Best solution is to create a new server.

Please, do not forget the points of call of the "useful" or "correct" answers

Evaluating System Center. One of the generation of functions is cloning a server. I have several 32-bit Ubuntu JEOS http servers. I would like a clone. When I do, the virtual machine is cloned, but when I start it, all network connectivity is broken.

In other words, when I run the command: ifconfig eth0, all I get is the loopback address. DHCP does not work, he dies not a static address.

    Hi Joeh,

    Good work cloning the server!.

Now, looking at the common error:

You must change the listening port of your server managed by another other than 5556 value, which is the default port for the nodemanager. That's why you get the current exception.

Change the value of the port and try to start your server again.

    Please let me know.

  • Creating an Image of 2003 server and add drivers LTO

    Hello

I was given a task of cloning our Server 2008 system, Server 2003 on it, then add new Server 2008 after; but I think there is a much easier way, which is simply create a Server 2003 image and use it with VMWare.

What we're trying to accomplish is to recover files from our old tapes, and we have a problem with the HP Library and Tape Tools program to recover the data.

My question is, are there drivers that support by adding the HP StorageWorks Ultrium 920 to a Virtual Machine? It will also recognize the Ribbon when it is inserted? How can I add a tape drive to the VM?

In my view, this is a much easier option (creating a virtual machine) that cloning, imaging, cloning etc etc etc.

  • Multi-stations for cloning operations

    Hi all
I hope everyone is in good spirits.
This issue is very common, but I had searched a lot and did not have anything even to even as directed by my trust scenario.
I had to do multi cloning a single node to node.

    32-bit linux OS
Structure of primary database (server1): -.
    ORACLE_HOME - /Orabase
    Data files - /Mdt1
    Data files - /Mdt2

Primary application (Server 2) structure: -.
    Complete file - /Appbase

Now I had to do the cloning on server n ° 3 , but it has only a single point mounting IE /Dbsvr

I know that after primary steps i.e running preclone, copy etc. it will be no problem in the application of cloning, but what to do for cloning the database as my data files are in two different mount points. Do I have to make a new folder on the clone database and will copy all the files of data in these two mount points or something else.

    Richa says:
    Thank you, Hussein.
But the confusion is do I do two new files in the database folder or a single folder to apps_st/db/data and paste all the data files here.

The two might work, it's up to you if you have 1 directory or 2 directories (or more) on the target node.

    Thank you
    Hussein

  • Operating repair of windows CD installation problem - win 2 k 3 Dell poweredge servers

I saved a Windows 2003 standard server (C drive and the system state) using windows backup and restored to a freshly installed Windows 2003 standard Server - effectively cloning the server installed.  (that is to say, boot from the installation CD, select install windows, press F8, select detected installed OS and press 'R' to repair)

When I do this, after he copied the files on the hard drive and it recharges, it hangs shortly after starting windows screen.  It seems that whenever that happens, I have to run Windows 2003 a second time (I choose ultimately "press ENTER to retry the upgrade,") before he's going to fix the system successfully enough that I can then apply SP2 and all subsequent WinUpdates.

What is different about the second compared to the first repair attempt?

Is it possible to tell the system to start with so I know I need to do?

  • Several Custom WebCenter Portal

    Hello

I understand that for each Custom WebCenter Portal uses a separate scheme WEBCENTER and ACTIVITIES. But how can I create several data source to connect to different schema WEBCENTER and ACTIVITIES?

I have found no option for configure/create CustomPortal-activities and data source JDBC CustomPortal-WebCenter component everything using the model of custom WebCenter portal to extend the WebLogic domain.

    Ref: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/fmw4apps/jde/enterpriseonecustomportal-1605516.pdf

Creation of Custom WebCenter managed Server before you deploy the portal WebCenter Custom Applications, you must create a WebLogic managed server. Depending on the type of application that you deploy you can choose between different templates when you create the managed server. In the section below, we will discuss about model Oracle WebCenter Custom Portal that is used to create a managed custom Portal Server and the process involved.

If you also want to use the custom Services, you can follow similar processes and create this managed server by using the model of the process of creating server. Model "Oracle WebCenter Custom Portal" this model contains all the libraries required to deploy WebCenter Custom portal applications. Custom WebCenter portal applications are created in JDeveloper using the model 'WebCenter portal application. A model can only be applied once in a domain.

If you want to create several custom management servers, you must clone the custom managed server existing with WLST cloneWebCenterManagedServer command. Oracle WebCenter Custom Portal server need a Billion scheme targeted for them. Several Custom Portal WebCenter applications can share the same pattern of MDS. This means that several deployed applications can use the same pattern of MDS, each with its own partition defined in MDS.

WebCenter custom portal multiple applications cannot share the same schema WEBCENTER. This means that several deployed applications have their own scheme of WEBCENTER. So if you need to deploy multiple Custom WebCenter portal applications you need create a schema for each application using the remote control set. Then you can clone the existing using WLST cloneWebCenterManagedServer custom managed server and associate the new patterns to the cloned managed server or associate the new patterns with a custom Management Server existing. Deploying applications Custom WebCenter to managed pre-configured servers created during installation of the WebCenter or domain as Administration Server is not supported.

    Hello

Active cluster Active both nodes also have same deployed application. When you make a configuration using Server Admin / FM control applicable to both nodes.

Then answer to your original question is that you do not require the 2 different schema to run your application.  Heard that, when demand for a context root user for example the user will hear except the same appearance and content.

Also I don't think that should you scheme of activity in case you want to return only content using presenter content.

    Thank you

  • Specifications Manager not applying custom settings do not to clone

    Hello

I have a picture of clone Win2008 R2 Server, it is Sysprep and power off. I created an answer file through the specifications of customization Manager and when I cloned the server I chose this model parameters. The clone is created successfully, but when I have the power to get the Mini Setup and settings that I've specified are not applied as if the settings file has been completely ignored.

I used the command sysprep in the build of the server (c:\windows\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe)

The clues where to start troubleshooting? I went through the requirements doc, creating a clone and a doc of parameters

It looks pretty - free create a virtual machine, sysprep it (generalize), clone and apply the settings file created from the CSM. Turn on the newly cloned virtual computer. But the settings are not applied, have I missed something?

    Thank you

In this case, which is the stage that 'syspreps' it? -When you arrive at 'comments' customization that is actually performing this part?

If you try to deploy an older operating system like Win 2003 model, you should see the 'comments' customization isn't available until you have copied the necessary sysprep files on the vCenter server.

This isn't necessary for Vista, 7, 2008 + because the necessary sysprep files are in the operating system natively...
What if all you have to do is to install your 2008 VM and configure it as needed, close, convert model and then start the deployment using your selected customization. The settings defined in your additional is then injected into the invited during the deployment operating system...

If you run Ent of Server 2003 32-bit, you need to activate "EAP".  Google for more information.

If you are running 64-bit Enterprise, it should show the extra RAM.
