Operating repair of windows CD installation problem - win 2 k 3 Dell poweredge servers

I saved a Windows 2003 standard server (C drive and the system state) using windows backup and restored to a freshly installed Windows 2003 standard Server - effectively cloning the server installed.  (that is to say, boot from the installation CD, select install windows, press F8, select detected installed OS and press 'R' to repair)

When I do this, after he copied the files on the hard drive and it recharges, it hangs shortly after starting windows screen.  It seems that whenever that happens, I have to run Windows 2003 a second time (I choose ultimately "press ENTER to retry the upgrade,") before he's going to fix the system successfully enough that I can then apply SP2 and all subsequent WinUpdates.

What is different about the second compared to the first repair attempt?

Is it possible to tell the system to start with so I know I need to do?

Hey Joe,

Your question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for Windows Server on TechNet forum. Please ask your question in the TechNet Windows Server général forum.

    Hey,.

    I m a bit confused now
What exactly happens on your laptop? You can start Windows?

I think the article MS says it all: to repair Windows you need a disc of Microsoft Vista.

Alternatives to reinstall the entire system use the Toshiba recovery disc that contains a picture of the factory settings. Have you created this disk?

  • Windows 7 installation problem Pavilion dv6-6c45eg

Since I have a free license for windows 7 Professional at home, I decided to install it on my new Pavilion dv6-6c45eg that came with Windows 7 Home Premium.

The problem is that the installation process stops at the beginning and said something like: "A required CD/DVD drive driver is missing... ", then he gives me the choice to load a driver. I googled a lot since yesterday and there seems to be something related to the SATA driver, however even load the SATA driver installation is not moving forward, after loading the driver it say that no new units have been detected.

    What I tried:

    * Install Windows 7 x 32 and x 64
    * Install from a USB flash drive

    * Install Windows 8 (same problem in Windows 7)

    * Check the SATA in the BIOS (not possible to see or modify on the BIOS F.19)

    * Search for the shortcomings of HD (even changed the HD)

I'm sure it's something related to a driver, because I also installed Linux (OpenSuse, Fedora and Ubuntu) operating systems and they work fine.
So, I would appreciate help to solve this problem.
    Thank you very much.

I noticed ribooth has also posted a message with the same problem... but I haven't seen a real answer. The problem: if I try to install Windows 2000 Professional (including SP2) on my satellite M30X-130. The windows 2000 Setup program crashes with a "page in a no fault paged area" in acpi.sys just at the moment where the status in the status bar has been changed from windows 2000. If I press F7 during startup, acpi support is disabled and no page error occurs but the windows 2000 installation hangs on "the first screen" where you should be able to start, stop and? installation. There is no additional hardware installed and I'm unable to partition and format the HD with W2k. If I do it with win98 and create a FAT32 partition and try to install w2k on it I get the same ' page in a no fault paged area "acpi.sys error. Any suggestions to fix this?

Thank you! I tried what you mentioned, nothing has worked... I plugged a usb keyboard and it works, so I'm starting to believe it could be a motherboard problem. I finally got windows xp pro installed, no conflicts in Device Manager, all the drivers are installed and now running smooth. I removed the keyboard, and re-set, all connections look good, but still not good. the synaptics keyboard works fine and both rt & lft click the buttons. I pulled the ram to inspect it, it's the right speed, ddr2700, and after running for an hour, it was cold to the touch! I'll try to get a new keyboard and replace it, their pretty good work, if still not good it becomes pieces on ebay... lol tx again... Marty

  • Repair Windows 7 installation problem

I want to try a repair installation on my computer running W7 Pro x 64 SP1 to see if it will solve a problem that I think is related to a problem with the OS.  I have a version of Windows and a valid product key, activated.   I have my original W7 install disk (it was actually an update of XP) as well as a separate drive that is the update SP1 of W7 (NOT an installation disc).

Despite having valid keys, I am unable to download the image of recovery of Microsoft software, receiving a message that the language is wrong and that I should choose another language.  I went to tech support and they said it was because the product key was used 20 times - I only used it once, and it was obtained directly from MS during a support for the problem to upgrade installation.

In any event after hours of troubleshooting including calls and conversations and an initial statement that my only recourse was to buy a new key technical support referred me to MS shop, telling me that they would give me a new key. After more chat, the MS store tech referred me to the reception of the answer; so, after hours of support not I dropped.

With the resources I have, is it possible that I can build a drive that I can use to repair/installation, without having to download a picture of MS?

Well, more hours on the phone with various divisions of MS support and FINALLY got someone who gave me a link where I could download an ISO of Win 7 Prof x 64 legitimate, installable to my system.  It took many more hours than I would have had to spend, this copy is legitimate, but, at least, I can now use this to do a repair/install of my dysfunctional W7 program.

  • Windows xp installation problems

Unfortunately I have no error message as such, first of all the toolbar menu bar and start disappeared in an irreversible way, at the same time that no executable programs would work, no sound would not play and only internet browser as well as wading through my folders and files was the only operational things. After an attempt to remedy this situation, I was told (online) to reinstall windows xp, this seemed an idea without danger at the same time, as I did before attaching unrelated problems, however, when reinstalling (or should I say before installation was complete) in one of the many process, the pc would restart and get to the device registration screen , from there, it's been jammed indefinitely, and flashing icons of many colors and forms have appeared and in some cases, replace a word or a number. (placement and Visual icon seem to be completely random)

I also read (before attempts to reinstall) it could be a malware problems, well that sounded rather difficult for me, as the malware program would not start let alone clean all the above questions. I have redownloaded malwarebytes and again, unsuccessfully, to get any .exe program to initialize even. An error appeared in keeping it (unfortunately silly me, I had not planned this far ahead and has not copied the error name/numbers)

I have tried many various difficulties through the system recovery and repair, but without success, I know it's not good to go, but any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

    * note * my usb ports are both issues and was not able to get the most recent of my files on an external hard drive etc, I would really like to come out of this with my hard drive in tact.

Alternatively, you can attach your hard drive as 2nd drive or slave for other PC work and then just copy the data off the coast.

Because of the strange characters and colors I would always start the recovery console

Unfortunately it did not work and the same colors and icons appeared at startup boot via the controls proved to be without success either.

I have yet to try this another recovery disc, I'll try that now, other then that, it seems that it would be a fixed format.

Respectfully, that you try many different things absolutely without success. I encourage you strongly to create this live cd, following the instructions on the link in my previous post, recover your files, reformat, re-install and do with it.

Any method allows you to retrieve your files get and do. You have re-installed windows 10 times since your first post and have been without headaches. It's just my recommendation of course.

  • Update of new Windows 7 installation problems

    Hello

After windows 10 road test for a few months, I decided that it wasn't going to work for me. So I used my drive of windows 7 to do a new installation, after I formatted the hard drive. I installed the operating system successfully, but when I do the 200 some setting to update and to install as failure 8 and it asks me to restart, I do. After he completes the updates I login and then the screen is black except for the cursor that I can move around. I did that only connected things are a monitor, keyboard and mouse and Ethernet and always have the same question.

I restarted in safe mode, and I am able to do throughout, on the desktop, no problem. So that being the case I thought I could do a system restore and updates from another chance. Well, I did this 3 times now with no luck. I even downloaded the diagnosis of WindowsUpdate tool and when I run it I get the error code "0 x 80070002.

I honestly have no idea what to do and have not found help online.

Restart your computer and wait 30 minutes for the system to operate before you download information. When the review much, not Event Viewer log files all problems show in the period immediately after the computer has booted.

Please provide a copy of your system information file. Type the system information in the search box above the Start button and press the ENTER key (alternative is select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, system information). Select file, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Not to place the cursor in the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new information file system each time system information is available. You must allow a minute or two before the file is completely filled before exporting a copy. Please download the file to your OneDrive, to share with everyone and post a link here. Normal mode preferred report. Please say if the report was obtained in safe mode. If the report is in one language other than English, please indicate the language.

Please download and share with everybody fresh copies of your System log and journal of the Application (two files) of your event viewer on your disc one and post a link here. You can delete any previous copies of your OneDrive records.

To access the system, log, select Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, Event Viewer, in the list on the left of the window, expand Windows logs and select System. Place the cursor on the system, select the Action in the Menu and record all events like (the evtx default file type) and give a name to the file. Do the same for the application log. Do not offer not filtered files. Do not place the cursor in the list of reports before selecting the Action from the menu. Do not clear the logs so that you have a persistent problem.

  • repair a Windows 7 oem, with win 7 retail disk

    Hi all

our dell workstation has a loop when starts up after a power failure: raid 1 with intel it'ok, Member of disc 2 are green, post OK, windows starts with the logo, but after a few seconds, the blue screen and reboot ever, claim compensation... not possible to auto repair.

the COA said... Dell Windows 7 Professional OA so I guess this is an OEM installation with preactivated license, we have no dell installation dvd disc and we do not have the time to ask him to support, we must return to production if it is possible with a REPAIR not a facility CLEAN, then YES only with iso downloaded from retail to your links.

I also tried the first solution, same question:

    last knon good congiguration.

    safe mode,

repair online of F8 and startup repair, online and system restore also the chkdsk command (I see System D partition so I can access disks seems are ok, like raid 1)

Start with vga... .Nothin same issue, to the point of boot. We will also try to "disable automatic restart after system failure" to see the blue crash error, but I think that the latter is a REPAIR of a win 7 pro x 64 retail dvd offline, I downloaded your link and burn it.

    MY QUESTION:

If I boot in detail don't drive not oem dell disk and I try INSTALLATION offline repair, after this test, a start-up repair and select the system partition, if the pc starts OK, must reactivate my copy of windows? or the file with other files local license certificate OEM Dell is deleted?

If YES, all ok, but I have to activate again my win 7, can I do that only with the product code to change with my phone COST and MS? or I need to install my dell with slmgr.vbs certificate first and THEN change product code with key COST? So the question is WHERE can I find this backup file?

and if restart fails too, you can also try the system restore of the retail dvd, what about activating windows in this case?

Another suggestion if everything breaks down?

    Thank you for your attention

See my Windows reinstallation Guide / a Clean Install of Windows 7: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/f/3524/t/19480753.aspx

You can use the retail .iso image file to try a repair installation if it works you should not be prompted to activate the product.

If you perform a new installation, you can do this by using the retail .iso image file, in this case, you will need to enter the 25-digit number on the COA product key and activate it by phone to Microsoft. The guide provides complete instructions on how to do this. In the worst case that you can not activate your product at all that you can use a non activated version of Windows 7 as a 30 day trial, which should be ample time to ask the DVD from Dell.

  • iMac 27 end of 2012 windows 7 installation problems.

    Dear Apple community.

First of all I know that the topic was discussed a few more times, but after I tried to follow the instructions and directions and patterns almost everywhere on the net I am a blind spot.

I have an iMac 27 "end 2012. I managed to install Windows 7 with Bootcamp through a combination of different methods, on line. (downloaded the Bootcamp Support 5.1.5621 software as described in many forums)

But I am stuck because I always have problems with my UBS3 ports that do not allow my keyboard and graphic tablet to work (I had to uninstall the app in safe mode to return to UB2) and the resolution of the screen that is only 1280 x 720 at the arrow, trash and other stuff that appear distorted.

Since I'm on some architecture and 3D modeling programs in Windows I want to ask for help because I don't really know where to look further.

When I solve the problem, I promise to write here a detailed method to install win7 on iMac late 2012 for those in need.

Can anyone help me to finally get a solution? Thanks a lot for your time and looking forward to hear that here you.

    Hello

In my opinion, there should be no problem with the use of Windows XP on this unit.
As far as I know the laptop came with WinXp pro, W2k and Win98SE.
In this case, all required drivers are available and must be installed in the correct order.
I assume that the installation and the installation procedure has been authorized. Did you install it on a second partition? You format the HDD to NTFS?

Do I have a problem? Should what steps I take? Thank you.

    Hi jayalan,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

The updates take time depending on the size of the file. If the update has hung so I suggest you hard reboot the computer and see if you can boot to the desktop. If you can boot to the desktop and then the updates are not installed will appear and which will be installed during the next update.

Once done with the step above after starting the computer on the desk. I suggest that reset you Windows Update components and perhaps that should take care of the updates. install the updates by selecting two both than some updates system needs to reboot for the changes to take effect.

Access the link below to reset the Windows Update components automatically.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

If the computer does not start on the desktop, then I suggest you to start safe mode and see if you can boot to the desktop. Once you are in the office, do a system restore which will take the computer to a time where it was working fine.
