Closed question, task host window appears.

original title: stop computer

When I stopped the computer a task host window appears and I have to force quit, how do I get rid of the task host window?

If I press Cancel, nothing happens and I have to click Yes to get off the computer at the close.
Thank you

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
Windows, then closing, checks all open programs. If there is, it sends a request for the program to close and wait until the program closes safely, to avoid any loss of data. But, Windows is waiting for some specified
If you are sure that none of the programs are obviously open, you can try the following steps:
Press Windows key + r, Type regedit and pres enter. If UAC prompts, click Yes. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-> expand System-> expand CurrentControlSet-> click on command (exapnd no do this). When you click (or select) control, you can see WaitToKillServiceTimeout. Double-click it to change the value. Set the value to 500 or less than that. Click Ok, and then close the registry editor. Now, restart the PC. If the problem persists, stop and try again and check.
Be careful with registry access as incorrect values or remove the unknown keys can prevent Windows to start and it will fix it.

  • Stop and restart prevented by the task host window

    Hello world.

I'm having currently a problem each time I try to shut down or restart my laptop. I have the following message:

    «Closing 1 app and restart»

Windows cannot close it, and I'm finally started on the desktop, but with all my applications closed and even some features of pilot missing (for example multitouch). I can't use the Task Manager as it crashes whenever I open it. By clicking on "restart still" does not resolve the issue and I think that causes a crash (cannot be 100% sure, only tried once).

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am pleased to provide you with more information if necessary.

Important: System Restore will return all system files not as documents, email, music, etc., to a previous state. These files of types are completely affected by the restoration of the system. If it was your intention with this tool to recover a deleted file to non-system, try using a file instead of system restore recovery program.

  • c / for task engine window appears while booting

A c prompt (c /) windows for the task (taskeng.exe) engine appears whenever I start. Recently, I had deleted a conscience (client.exe) and the problem started after that.

Good reading this - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/what-is-taskengexe/526f43d3-d311-4637-a19a-a76f1ce351fb and the http://windowshelp.net/windows-processes/taskeng.exe.aspx ( ) No download anything, just read for more information) you had 'adware' possible is a left above.

Update your AntiVirus and run a scan completes.

Then download, install, update and run a full scan with malwarebytes(free). Keep it free, no need to enter trials etc. See if scan detects and removes malware and if so, if the problem occurred again.

Have a search on your system for "taskeng" (without the quotes) and see what happens and where it is located. According to the 2nd link you can find it in C:\windows\system32 (although its there on my PC as well). If its reported no matter where it may also be a further investigation. You can find copies reported records 'X86_microsoft-... ' (X 86 for 32-bit system) in the C:\Windows\winsxs folder as well.

You could also have a look in the [command] "msconfig" [startup] tab column, to see if something is SEO from there and if so to continue the investigation. in search type "msconfig" (without the quotes) in the results click "msconfig.exe".

    Hi Sanaaalsadouni,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.

The TASKHOST is a generic process, which acts as a host for the processes that are running DLL instead of exe files. Up TASKHOST checks the part Services of the registry to construct a list of services focused on the DLLS it needs to load, then load them.

  • Empty windows appear in the recently closed Windows list

Recently, I upgraded to Firefox 13.0.1. (It seems that he could have two updates on the same day or after the other very short, but I'm not sure of him. I will be reminding upgrades of multiple instances of Firefox, all this same version. Thus, it * could * be true that this problem has arisen with this version or a recent previous version.)

Since the upgrade, empty windows appear in the list of recently closed Windows (RCWL). I try to keep the clean list, so when I'm done with a window holding sites I know I don't want to go back, I close all the tabs in the window, leaving an unused new tab *, and then close the window. These windows should not be included in the RCWL, but they are now.

[* I put new tabs to about: blank so that they will load the pages automatically.]

Since this standard behavior change comes with an upgrade, and since I can't find any reference to it elsewhere, including the Support of Mozilla, I suspect that it may be a new bug.

In troubleshooting, I tried deleting the list recently closed in these windows and tabs. I've never had before, but it seemed worth trying and as something that might have been relevant. I thought that perhaps a window would not "Save as really empty ' if it had recently closed tabs in the list. This tactic did not work.

I also tried to start Firefox in Mode safe, the reopening of all the RCWL, each one tab - a 'new tab' in all cases - closing then close each window. They always appear in the RCWL.

Please let me know if I can (or need to) provide additional information. Thanks for any help!

Try to set the browser.newtab.url pref to about: blank so currently, you do not use this parameter.

  • While using the FF browser, a window appeared, telling me I had an outdated version and should upgrade and it will not install or I would uninstall to re

First of all, I have Windows XP/HE/SP3 and my main browser is IE8, although I have also have Google and had, FF V #21. And when you use the FF browser, warned that my current version was exceeded, etc., even when I just installed V #21 only 1 week ago but I took word FF for her and clicked on (x'd) to install the upgrade. The application (AP) used for installation was called "Optimum Installer" and had the word "Firefox" in smaller print in the upper left. This diff seemed AP I used to install just 1 week before, but since I used IE8 install FFV #21 initially, I thought that the FF browser used this AP "Optimum", so I did. The small window and then said, "you have chosen to open this file" and yet there is no option 'open' to 'save', or cancel. So I x'd on 'save' and my Norton File Checker jumped up to tell me this file is 'safe '. But subsequently no installation window appears, then I tried to DL the file again and still no windows installation after a total of 8 attempts. I finally found the configuration file in 'my documents' and opened it and x'd for install. It seemed to work ok, tho even once, I was asked a lot of questions on doing them so and these my default browser or search engine, or home page, etc., and even others, but I declined, I think, but of course not a misunderstandings possible. in any case, the AP told me that I had managed to install this new version of FF. So of course I wanted to open it and see how it would work and I am went to my task bar of the bar/notification to X on the icon of the globe and instead it showed a 'setup' icon I put my mouse beneath him and he says "Mozilla Firefox" so I went ahead and x'd on it waiting for FF to open. Instead, a small warning telling me I had to restart for the installation to complete, I did, but no change. Tried at least half a dozen times and nothing new in or no, version of FF works now on my pc. I tried to look at the support, but no answers, then tried to uninstall and it don't let me do this, it keeps saying that "your computer must be restarted to complete a previous update; Yet who already has not worked. Also, I went to a #21 a v #13.0.1 with 77 MB + space V, which is more FF #21. Now, I think this version is corrupt and really don't want, but cannot get rid of it. I even tried to reinstall V21 (also of IE8, since I don't have FF browser now) and it goes up to a point, but also tells me so I can't get this V21 until I complete an installation/upgrade from another version. So basically, I have what I believe is a software on my pc, corrupted/malicious who is called Mozilla V #13.0.1 - I cannot get rid of and also impossible to reinstall the version I had, less I complete installation of the one I have, but don't think that I want now. Remember also, I can't make suggestions of in the browser of FF that have been suggested, because I never saw, only IE8 and Google... Any suggestions?

Try Revo Uninstaller to uninstall or find malware.
