Cluster hardware

Hello

I read that it is best practice to keep the same material in a cluster - logical.

Is it completely necessary to do this?

We are looking at using a DL380 G6 and DL580 G5 in a cluster

The cluster as an EVC cluster configuration should do the trick...  This should cover addional CPU features offered by the new G6.

I if I understand cluster documentation we need to remove the VCs of the cluster and add it back in.

My question is this will incur any interruption of on-line service on the cluster itself? Must the existing direct VCs or replacement be restarted etc.?

    the cluster is running X7.1

    Hi David,

No, the cluster will be always operational, just with a less VCS in its composition.

Obviously, all calls that are active on the VCS that you delete will be affected, but the whole of the activities of the VCS will not (the other but many other you have in the cluster devices will be continuous without any required restart).

Check out creation of Cluster VCS and service guide for complete instructions.

  • VSA on material different hosts in a cluster

I installed VSA attemtped to VSA configuration for two hosts in a cluster with a different material and successfully. When I have case set up the ASB I couldn't add any of the hosts in the cluster. In the details, he says "guests shouldn't be in a cluster, hardware not supported." My question is...

Should I remove the hosts in the cluster?

VSA supports the hosts of different material?

VSA can support my setup with a different configuration?

I am new to VSA, so any help would be appreciated.

    Concerning

Purpose of test, I missed more than one option you need to change in the dev.properties:

    EVC.config = false

Turn off the host.audit allows you to select hosts even with unsupported hardware.

This cannot be a permanent solution, because VSA configures an EVC cluster enabled as part of the workflow installation and vCenter Server does not add a host from a different family of the seller/CPU in a VCA active cluster.

    Concerning

    Gerard

I suggest reading this guide to make sure that you have prepared your environment to support the first 10.x. The link below also contains the path to upgrade to 10.0 (1).

One of the ways to do this is:

1 / apply cooling cop upgrade file on all servers in the cluster.

2 / upgrade the cluster to 8.6 (2). Make a backup of the cluster.

3 / build a cluster of servers 8.6 (2) on the virtual machines and assign them the same host name and the IP address of the cluster hardware. (You may need to keep these on a separate network until turn off hardware machines)

4 / restoration of the backup of the pile of material on the VM cluster.

    5 / upgrade cluster VM to 10.0 (1).

  • Isse in OSB Desing

    Hello

I have following questions in the design of the OSB.

    1. can we use local proxy transport, calling another proxy in deferent field. If we want to call the proxy in a domain to another doamin of weblogic's weblogic, what is the best way of communication.

    2. can I make Weblogic doamin segregation mainly based on the valume transaction. is this good approach.
the main idea to do the same thing is that I can have some good assingnment from the size of the heap at each managed clustered server and the ideal number of servers managed clustered (ex 8), each time, I have a requirement of scalling can I increase respectively managed servers and the heap size.

    3. can I have my hardware running cluster t4 spark and the other of the managed server in the cluster to another cluster hardware IE IBM covering power of deferential hardwares with the same version of the weblogic instance.

    4. what would be the support of the OSB managed server based on queries per second with segment size to 4 GB in size and message of 25 kg with mail (transformation, assignment, legend of the service) flow in proxy.

It would be useful to greate as any body with a reflection on the above.

    1. can we use local proxy transport, calling another proxy in deferent field. If we want to call the proxy in a domain to another doamin of weblogic's weblogic, what is the best way of communication.

It won't be a problem, use the web service transport.

    2. can I make Weblogic doamin segregation mainly based on the valume transaction. is this good approach. the main idea to do the same thing is that I can have some good assingnment from the size of the heap at each managed clustered server and the ideal number of servers managed clustered (ex 8), each time, I have a requirement of scalling can I increase respectively managed servers and the heap size.

It looks like a good approach for me. Not sure how far you can go with the size of the heap.

    3. can I have my hardware running cluster t4 spark and the other of the managed server in the cluster to another cluster hardware IE IBM covering power of deferential hardwares with the same version of the weblogic instance.

It shouldn't be a problem, just check if the materials are certified

    4. what would be the support of the OSB managed server based on queries per second with segment size to 4 GB in size and message of 25 kg with mail (transformation, assignment, legend of the service) flow in proxy.

Hard to say, it depends on each service, create your typical sample service and use a tool such as JMeter to get an idea of the output.

  • Migration of the iscsi initiator software to hardware initiator on 2012 Hyper-v cluster.

    Hello

We have 10 blades x M620 with Broadcom 10gig 57810 M1000e CMC card dedicated for iSCSI Equallogic PS 6110 San.

Currently software used on cluster hyper-v Windows 2012 connect SAN PS6110 iscsi initiator.

150 VMS are in production on 15 CSVs.

We want to change the initiator of the software to the hardware on all our existing blades without CSV output.

Is it possible on hyper-v cluster 2012 to have 5 blades with initiator software and remaining 5 blades with hardware initiator with same CSV cluster?

If coexistence of initiator software and material as possible through hosting then I can apply this change a bit on our 10 blades without cluster downtime.

    Hello

What version of FW EQL do you use?

Yes, it is possible, however a couple of updates warn first.

1.) install the latest firmware / boot code and driver for Broadcom cards.

2.) put the node into maint mode then you can disconnect the SW iSCSI provenance and sign in using the HW iSCSI adapter.

3.) do not try to do it with an active node / online.

The advantage of the HW iSCSI adapter reduces the CPU Overload, if you are maxing out the CPU not now, do not expect a large increase in performance after HW iSCSI card.

  • ESXi 5.1 cluster moving to new hardware

I have a 5.1 ESXi cluster consisting of 2 servers of Sun I want to retire - Sun #2 is the best of the 2 servers.   I all 2 new Dell R620 stretched upward, wired and pre-loaded with 5.1 U1.  My license is for 4 and vCenter is a virtual machine in the cluster, I want all moved to new hardware with little or no interruption of service.

This would be the way to go?

    1. set up Dell and storage server configuration networking properly (I am comfortable with this part).

2 migrate all virtual machines to Sun 2.

    3. close the Sun 1 and remove the cluster

    4. Add 1 Dell to the cluster

5 move the VM to Dell 1

    6. switch off the Sun Deceiver 2 and remove the cluster

    7. Add 2 Dell and move virtual machines as you wish.

Sun servers were not identical, then the VCA mode is Intel "Penryn".    The specs say that future Intel processors can join to this group, so it is not a problem running 1 Dell and 1 Sun temporarily, correct?  The r.620 are the same, so as soon as they are both in the cluster can / disable CVS mode?    I have to restart each VM later so he would see the new processor features, correct?

Is this what I need to look at.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

You can do a lot of ways, but I would recommend not to remove the beam #1 sunlight until you are 100% made to the migration. Which leaves you exposed from the point of view HA (assuming that it is production, since you want little downtime), and is an unnecessary step. RELATIVE to the issuance of licenses, since this is a migration of right, keep the r.620 in eval mode and change the licensing of more later. Which allows to rotate the environment MUCH easier.

Here's what I'd do (emulation of your list)

    (1) Networking Setup / storage on r.620, to be compatible with the old SUN servers.

    (2) to present the cluster r.620

    (3) to migrate a low priority / test VM networking, testing vMotion and new hosts.

    (4) to migrate most of the virtual machine the new hosts.

    (5) migrate vCenter last VM (just to be safe)

    (6) put SUN 1 and 2 in maintenance mode. Leave them in the cluster for a few days just in case

    (7) remove SUN 1/2 cluster once everything works well, remove the former hosts of vCenter and closed. Clean a network configuration and storage, respectively (be careful here).

    (8) stimulus EVC Mode at the highest level appropriate (Sandy Bridge, I guess).

    (9) it is important, read closely. If you want to increase the level of CEV, after former guests are completely gone and dead, completely off each VM, a power back on. This will raise the functional level of CVS to the new level. Simply restart the guest OS won't do it. You can check by going to display hosts and clusters > VMS > add column EVC.

  • Cluster with different host - resource pools hardware?

    Hello

We have currently three generations of servers at base of AMD in our environment - with different CPU clock speeds.

Guests are split into three groups and VMs are grouped based on clock speed.

But frankly, it's a mess to administer.

We envisage the creation of a single cluster and using pools of resources.

But CPU resource pools take host speed of the CPU in return?

    - Or they just sure that VMs receive their share of CPU temps on loan-time partial?

    Best regards

    Martin

Pools of resources sharing works only when there is some conflict of resources.

-VMs in 'high' will appear on hosts with fast processors? - and get the most MHz?

The actions are only priority... Then no.

With a reservation... it depends on how much MHz offers...

    - Or they simply receive a high share of CPU time on a random host?

    By shars Yes...

    But remember the first sentence!

If you have enough of free resources, all virtual machines are also (for actions).

  • How can I draw dynamic data that I get a hardware DAQ against each other?

    Hi all

I am trying to acquire voltage and current data of DAQ hardware. My goal is plotted against votlagein current a continuous path. As the votlage is increased at intervals of 1 Volt, every second I want to see how the current. However, this data is dynamic and I need help find how to draw in a single chart. Any thoughts on how to draw the two different dynamic data against each other in the same graph?

You help will be very appreciated.

    Thank you

If I understand what you're saying, looks like you want to have the update of XY graph with each new data point (or points) acquired, but also choose to keep the previous data on the XY graph.  If that's what you're after, I build on my previous example.  For the method of use of the express VI build XY graph, you can simply double click on it and uncheck the "erase data on each call.  For the other method of construction of the dashboard cluster, you will need to add a few records to offset to maintain the previous itterations table values.  Here's the updated image:

  • Access and manipulate elements of the cluster

I have a group of 4 elements. One of the elements is a ring with 4 data entry. Is it possible to manipulate these entires 4 data based on a condition?
For example, when a condition = 1; then 3 ring entries will be disabled and grayed out. When not, all 4 entries must be enabled.

Is it possible to get the local variable for those inputs of the ring in a cluster. or ideas?

    Hello

When you right-click the control of the ring, you will have a Create-> property Node-> disabled]

AS LONG AS you call the command is not strictly Type Def or the cluster that contains the control of the ring is not strictly of Type defined, you can use property "Disabled items []" to get the behavior programmatically.

When a condition is true, the index numbers of items that need to be disabled for this hardware node of wire.

  • Properties of the component of modifing Cluster on sbRIO? No node "to more specific class?

    Hello

I designed a fairly large RT application.  Our structure is to have our main vi RT with several large groups which pass into subvis that modify the components of the pole passed through its reference. (Easy) In addition, we have to change the properties of the cluster component as well. Other examples, to change the properties of a cluster of referral component, we do:

    (1) obtain controls [] property of the cluster

    (2) of the index in the [] for the component Control

    (3) class "to more specific" use with the exact type of the component

    (4) fix a property node to access the property of desirec

It worked well except that we are currently making a sbRIO system. All the 'to more specific class' now are broken with the error message that this node "only is not supported on the current target".

I spoke to a representative of OR who says that 'To more specific class' is NOT supported on the real-time hardware. If this is the case, how one is changing the properties of component a cluster without using the node "to more specific class?

A simple example is attached. It shows a simple cluster of two components that must have their properties changed. It works fine on a material in real time (such as a host PC). It breaks on our sbRIO.

Yet once how one change properties of a component cluster on a system in real-time like sbRIO?

We use LabView 8.6.1 on a sbRIO 9642.

    -Paul

I installed LabView 2009 today and here it is--the "to more specific class" node is now permitted on a real-time target. Nothing in the documentation indicates that it but I'm not complaining. You can now change the ownership of a cluster component in a subvi on a real-time target. Thanks to which it is fixed that!

  • Windows Clustering with different hardware 2012R2

    Hello

We have a two 2012R2 Windows cluster node that has a HP Proliant Gen8 and Gen7 server, we have added the Gen7 server as a temporary measure. Although the material does not match the cluster seems to operate normally and the Validation Wizard passes without any significant errors. However, I am not happy that we have a Gen7 server in the cluster and that he wants to replace it with an another Gen8. The new Gen8 server is a slightly newer model, it has different processors, etc., but the same amount of memory bus faster speeds.

Someone at - it experience of use of a cluster of slightly different hardware? Microsoft is not specific and said that he should not be identical, but similar, https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj612869.aspx. But I've read elsewhere that the CPU families must match, which they are not in my case - the old server has Intel Xeon X 5660 2 x 6-core Westmere-Eps and the new Gen8 has Intel Xeon E5 2690 2 x 8 core Sandy Bridge-EP/EX.

Is it true that if the Validation Wizard passes we will be supported by Microsoft, more we should not get any problems. Or do we get problems that the material does not correspond exactly.

Appreciate any input you might have.
