  • Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter missing (hostednetwork starts but cannot connect devices)

I upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro and everything worked fine, I was able to host a wifi network using the command "netsh wlan. I have a htc x, it successfully connected to the wireless network on my laptop via the netsh tha.

But earlier, I have no idea of what happened but no device (for example, my cellphone) is able to connect to the wifi/hostednetwork hosted on my laptop. He sees the connection, but still hung on authentication / "obtain an ip address" phase and sometimes loops around that. While this same cell phone is able to connect to wifi hosted on the laptop from my friend, via the same netsh command, also it connects fine to routers wireless etc.

I noticed that in my network connections section, "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" has disappeared. I tried to run the command

"netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = command not allow."

    and then

"command netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow."

but nothing is done, the virtual wifi adapter doesn't seem to be back. I've updated my drivers for wireless card that is "Intel Centrino Wireless - N 1030 BGN". But still no change, map of miniport does not return. Then I ran the cmd command "sfc/scannow", in the hope that maybe some file is corrupted and he could get fixed, but even after checking and restarting, it was still no effect on wifi.

So, basically, that is what is happening, I run the command

"netsh wlan set hostednetwork ssid = keyUsage htc = key command persist = mode abcdefgh = enable".

    and it will

"Hosted network mode has been set to allow.
The SSID of the network hosted has been changed successfully.
The user key hosted network password has been changed successfully. »

    Then I run

    "netsh wlan start hostednetwork.

    and it will

    "The hosted network began.

But in my network connections section, "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" does not appear, instead when the connection is started, "Microsoft hosted virtual network adapter" appears and disappears when the hostednetwork is stopped. But nevertheless, no device is able to connect to this hostednetwork, stuck on authentication / phase "obtain an ip address", as a DHCP server is missing or something.

Kindly, help me out I searched on internet a solution for almost 2 days now, but nothing helped.

    Abdoulaye.

  • Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter missing

    L.S.

I would like to create a hotspot on my Windows computer. Windows supports this and he needs the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport card for this. The question is this:

I don't see Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter in my device management.

    I tried the things:

    (1) checking the section "hidden devices" in device management. He isn't here.

    (2) update the my wireless (Netgear A6210) network card drivers to the latest version.

    (3) update the drivers of my network card wireless (Netgear A6210) to the first version available.

    (4) reinstall the drivers of steps 2 and 3.

    (4) the execution of a number of commands that search on Google, I found:

"command netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow."

"netsh wlan start hostednetwork" (which made me an error - sorry for the Dutch: Het gehoste kan niet worden gestart netwerk.)

"command netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow ssid = NameOfNetwork key = StrongPassword".

"command netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow ssid = NameOfNetwork key = StrongPassword".

    (5) install the drivers of VirtualWifi, which landed me an error:

    Thanks in advance!

Wifi miniport exists only after you have successfully put in place a network hosted - it is a virtual device.

If you can, it would be interesting to restore an image system before all your attempts - just to make sure there is no debris around to stop you from your repeated procedure.

The following documents have been cut & pasted directly from the windows command prompt, I used successfully implemented and use this utility [in Windows 7 and Windows 10].  I mention this because when I wanted to find out more about the fact that I discovered a lot of rubbish, written by people who had either never tried & have been incorrectly copy of notes from someone else or they were just of their inaccurate memories.

1 you must first verify that your WiFi card is capable of this job.  Enter elevated command window

    netsh wlan show pilot

    and check that the entry

    Hosted network supported: Yes

    appears in the results.

2 WiFi must be enabled until you issue the following command [it didn't need to be connected to anything]

    netsh wlan start hostednetwork

and then you should get the answer

    The hosted network began.

[If you do not have WiFi you this answer - the hosted network could not be started.]  [A device attached to the system is not functioning.]

3 Once you are happy that you have found the right answer, then stop the network

    netsh wlan hostednetwork stop

4 then start it for real with a SSID & password

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow ssid = TestNet key = password

    and you get the answer

The hosted network mode has been defined to allow.
The SSID of the network hosted has been changed successfully.
The user key hosted network password has been changed successfully.

5 you can restart [you will have to do at each reboot of the system - there is no need to keep entering the SSID and password the system will just continue to use those you put in during step 4 above].

    netsh wlan start hostednetwork

6 you can also get some info on how it works with

    netsh wlan show hostednetwork

I just checked these settings to see what security was that I couldn't connect to my WinXP [but not connected as well a computer Win10 & hotspot a phone]

  • "Audio Codecs disappear, error message" you cannot compress the audio. "

    Original title:audio codecs disappear

Most of my codecs for encoding have disappeared or, on the contrary, is hidden and stopped working.

I have this same problem on all my machines running Win XP Pro SP3 which makes me think that it may be caused by a recent patch.

If I go to control panel, sounds and audio, hardware devices (!), the properties of Audio Codecs, I see all the codecs correctly listed there:

    -Codec Audio IMA ADPCM
    -Codec Audio Microsoft ADPCM
    -Microsoft CCITT G.711 Audio Codec
    -Microsoft GSM 6.10 Audio Codec
-Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (Pro)
    -DSPGroup True speech
    -msg723.acm
etc. up to a total of 15

But when I try to record any audio file with one of my audio programs, most of the codec options have disappeared and I only have the following choices:

    -GSM 6.10
    -IMA ADPCM
    -Microsoft ADPCM
    -PCM

All the others have disappeared, including MPEG Layer-3.  This happens in all audio processing programs, including Fraunhofer MPEG Layer-3 producer who has now NO compression option.

It seems that compression codecs are still there, but somehow Windows Live upward when reported availability for audio programs.

Most of the audio programs sound real need until I can choose the compression settings and then, as I say, no choice of compression ACM don't appear.

    BUT

VirtualDUB lets me select the compression settings before even I have all selected audio real and in this case all the codecs and options appear. So I can choose to compress using MPEG Layer-3 and all the choices appear.  But when I select then any specific audio stream disappear all the choices.

It is as if Windows says "you can't compress THIS audio. I wonder if it is that something caused by a recent patch because it happens in all my computers (all running win XP Pro SP3).  I wonder if it may be something related to incorrect DRM restrictions.

I can't compress audio in any of my machines.  Help, please.

Well, I think I finally thought to it and the problem is not with the operating system or audio program, but with the audio from the source itself.  Apparently, the video recording reports audio as having a non-standard 11024 instead of the standard 11025 sampling rate and this is sufficient for audio programs to see it does not match the standard 11025.  If I have to "convert" the audio to 11025 then the problem will not occur.  I hope it's resolved then.

  • Unable to show a WMV file, because Windows 7 does not support the G2M4 codec

I use windows 7 and I got a file wmv of my employer.  When I try to see I hear it but I can't.  The message I get is:

    "No decoder module appropriate:

VLC does not support the audio or video format "G2M4". Unfortunately it is impossible for you to solve this problem. »

Try to open in Windows Media Player and get this message "Windows Media Center cannot play the file because the required video codec is not installed on your computer."

Tried to download the current codec installation package and I got the message "the program is blocked due to compatibility issues".

Run the fixit from Microsoft to search for any missing codec and the report that came back that no codec is missing.

Please tell me there is a way that this can be corrected.

It might be worth a try to re - encode the. WMV file.

In many cases, I found that convert a. WMV file
to the. WMV format could produce a new version of the
compatible file. Sounds redundant, I know, but it
    can work.

Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 can perform the conversion.

If you want to try Expression Encoder 4 following
    info can be useful:

    Start Microsoft Expression Encoder 4
    (Start / programs / Microsoft Expression /)
    Microsoft Expression Encoder 4)

On the "Load a new project" screen...
    Left click... "Transcoding project '...

When the program opens, click on... File / import...

Left click (highlight) the. Left and WMV file, click the Open button.

You will see the file in the "Multimedia content" pane

In the right column... left click on the tab "Output"...

Open the drop directory window and choose an output folder.
(This is where you will find your converted file)

On the left, click on the button "encode".

Wait... video encoding CPU intensive and can
be a slow process. It is always best if you do not have
    multi-task while files are encoded.

Disconnect all devices not HP.  Your computer is trying to boot from a non bootable device.  You will probably have to reorganize the default settings of the boot device.

You can always connect external USB devices after startup.
