Download the free media encoder and conversion (transcoding) these files mp4 to mp3 high quality, 192 Kbps or higher. If you use more low-quality mp3 will save you space, but the sound quality will suffer.

  And if you use iTunes to rip a CD, you can change the settings (in Edition/Preferences/Advanced/import music, which differs from the advanced visible tab) to mp3 instead of m4a files when rip you.

  If your files are m4p, the p is for protégés who are protected against copying the files, which means that you're not supposed to move on another device.  The only way to convert is to go into the underground world of pirate.

  I am trying to download audio files of www.hayhouse.com o.  My OS is Vista.  The first downlooad went well and I could listen without any problem.  When I tried to download the second file, I received an error message "missing CODEC".  In doing some research on the Internet I found a download on several websites «media player codec pack 3.9.6»  I am concerned about download, even if it of free of any one of these sites - and in any case did not understand how...   If you get a message stating that your computer is missing a codec, you are probably trying to play a file that was compressed by using a codec that does not include Windows or the default player.
   
  There is no official site to download the codecs. See question How can I find a codec?

  ·         Do you get what this error during playback of all files or a particular file?

  You may encounter this error message for the following reasons:

  1. the file type is supported by the drive, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.

  2 - the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.

  You can try the steps and check if it makes a difference.

  a. to determine what codec was used with a specific file, play the file in the player, if possible. When the file is playing, right-click the file in the library, and then click Properties. On the file tab, look at the sections of video codec and Audio codec.

  b. download and install Codecs by clicking on the PLAYER tab and check. To connect to the Internet and automatically download the Codecs of the reader.

  I also suggest that you run the Audio troubleshooter. This will allow to diagnose and automatically fix the problems of noise and acoustic:

  Make sure you have the latest driver for your Audio device. Visit the manufacturer's Web site and download the latest drivers for your Audio device.

  If nothing works, I suggest you uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your Audio device. This will reset all of your Audio components.

  To uninstall a device with Device Manager:

  1. launch Device Manager.

  2. in the left pane of Device Manager, open the node that represents the type of device you want to uninstall, and then right click on the input of the unit.

  3. in the context menu, click on uninstall.

  4. in the dialog box confirm the device removal, click OK to start the uninstall process.

  5. when the uninstall is complete, unplug the device.

  Note: Make sure that you have the source to install the Audio drivers before installing it.
