When I try to change the networking of sharing and discovery, I get the above message. I don't quite know what to try to fix the problem. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
Hello MarkPogue,
Thank you for the question!
I'm sorry to know that have problems you with the network sharing and discovery. "As I understand it, you get an error message" the specified service does not exist as an installed service ' trying to turn on network discovery.
Make the SFC (System File Checker) scan and see if the problem occurs.
Answer to us if you are having problems with the network discovery or any other issue of Windows, and I'd be happy to help you again and try to correct the problem as soon as possible.
Good day!

I get a message saying "the specified service does not exist as an installed service."
Hi, im having problems with windows vista where whenever I try to update my system (security, java, adobe) or I right click on the sound icon in the toolbar of my screen (and open) section, I get the message saying that the specified service does not exist as an installed service. SO, I searched online and which did not help. Oh and by the way, when I get the options after I have right click on the sound icon, I can't click on the mixer. IM using a dell inspiron 531 and it works on windows vista and is very slow, almost never answers (only restores the games that I have on it) and has an athlon processor. What should I do? Thank you, Shawn White. P.S. that's in the good topic?
Hello
1. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?
2. what anti-virus is installed on the computer?
Follow these methods
Method 1: A Microsoft Safety scanner to make sure that the computer is free from virus infection:
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspxNote: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.Method 2: Run the fixit in the following Microsoft article and check if it works.
Solve problems with programs that cannot be installed or uninstalled:
http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/
Method 3: Run a file system check Scan (scan SFC)
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:
a. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
b. type the following command and press ENTER:
sfc/scannowThe sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.
Merthod 4: Check services.
Check if a service is stopped or disabled. You will need to check each service one by one. If you find any service is stopped or disabled, you must start or enable and check if the problem persists.

C7280 Installation error: the specified service does not exist as an installed service
All,
I have an AIO C7280 printer that is connected wireless to my router. I have a pc (Vista) cable and a laptop wireless (XP) connected to the router as well. I chose the network and the error appears saying "the specified service does not exist as an installed service. I ping the printer from the laptop so I know it can 'see '. I don't know what to do. I have uninstalled/reinstalled several times without success. Can anyone help?
Thank you.

Message edited by gatorman on 09/18/2009 16:57Message edited by gatorman on 09/18/2009 17:10The service that the error message refers is the HP network devices support service. Try this...
Open the contents of the installation CD, and then open the file "setup." Now you will find either a folder named 'netdevicemanager' or simply 'network '. Open if it is present. Now there should be a file with the same name as the file, but with extension .msi. Right-click on this file and click on uninstall. If you get a message stating that the action applies only to products that have been installed, and then click OK. Restart the computer IF necessary. Now, right-click on the file and click on install. Installation do not normally present a window of 'success' You will just see a bar of progress for a few seconds and disappear. Once this happens, restart the PC and check if the HP Network Device Support or similar service appeared in the list of services. If Yes, then reinstall the software, and it should install correctly.

I have this problem and it will not just let me use Windows Defender, I am currently 'clean up' my computer and I have to run Defender to change startup programs. My OS is windows vista.
Hello
read this information on the Defender:
· If you use microsoft security essentials avg avira mcafee norton etc they disable the vista version of windows defender by default
the basics of Microsoft security has its own version of windows defender
and other anti-virus programs use their own particular type of application to scan for spyware and malware
It of nothing to worry and is the default action, which is designed for them to do
If the above does not apply to your machine to read the information on the below link on how to disable the windows defender service in vista or make an autostart to enable
and here is the method to remove it from startup in vista
http://www.groovypost.com/HOWTO/Microsoft/Vista/remove-Windows-Defender-from-Vista-system-startup/
and this is how you would normally activate or disable windows defender in vista from within defenders of own and options tools
http://www.groovypost.com/HOWTO/Microsoft/Vista/disable-Windows-Defender-for-Microsoft-Vista/
and read this information to microsoft:
Error message when you run Windows Defender: «Error 0x800106ba»
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/931849
and if you need to change startup programs read this information on the other methods of doing it without using defender
using msconfig read this tutorial:
How to use MSCONFIG in Windows Vista
Here's how to use MSCONFIG in Windows Vista to disable some unnecessary programs that load automatically at startup
http://netsquirrel.com/Msconfig/msconfig_vista.html
and also try this FREE program Autoruns:
This utility, which has a knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs configured to run at system startup or login and that the entries in the order of processing windows. These programs include those in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell, toolbar extensions, helper objects to the browser, Winlogon notifications, auto and many start-up services more

Hi, I have problems with my Security Center, I can't put it, I get an error indicating that the SECURITY CENTER can NOT BE STARTED! And everytime I open Windows Defender, I get this error "Windows Defender encountered an error 0 * 80070424.The indicated there is no service as an installed service.»
What it means? I tried to update the windows Defender, but the update process has been abandoned because windows has detected that the windows Defender has been pre loaded with VISTAHello
If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.
There is nothing to worry.
Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.
If you are using one of the above AntiVirus programs, this Information from David O - Support Engineer shows you how to manually activate new Windows (do not take into account information from uninstalling; not possible in Vista):
"Go to start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Look for Windows Defender.
Right click and select Properties , ensure that Startup Type is automatic.
Once modified, click apply and OK.
Quit and restart your computer. Check the back take the same path to confirm that Windows Defender has started"
.
If you want to have additional protection against malware using the version FREE of Malwarebytes AntiMalware.
I suggest that you now download, install, update and scan with it to check the malware
http://www.Malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
And for now, change startup Vista programs without using Defender, use one of these methods:
"How to use MSCONFIG in Windows Vista"
http://netsquirrel.com/Msconfig/msconfig_vista.html
Or the program Autoruns for FREE:
"V11.21 Autoruns for Windows"

See you soon.

I got this upgrade for the last two or three years. Why is this happening? How can I solve this?
As to why this is happening - you certainly used a (WiseFixer or CSA?) registry cleaner.
I suggest you use any possibility of CANCELLATION to return to a State where the system works, then uninstall it and vow never to reuse such a thing. They are ALL dangerous.
If the Cancel option is not available, try a system restore - if vacuuming has not broken also SR service.

When you try to make a backup of wuch as "Create a system image" in Windows 7 Professional, I get an error. Windows Backup Service is on the list and he is even started.
I have searched this forum and the internet and have not found a definitive resolution to this matter. This is a freshly installed Windows 7, and I have tried a clean boot and still get the same issue. I did a sfc/scannow and integrity is very well. I have Norton Internet securities 2010 and have not found any malware or a virus on my system. I really don't want to activate my Windows 7 support for a question that should work installed right out of the box of backup. I reinstalled not even one of my games or anything which could change windows somehow.Have the same Prob as Mezroc with Win7 Pro (64-bit). Maybe it's a coincidence but the problem started after a failed at startup Defragment using 9 System Mechanic!
Looked at VSS, start, set it to auto, made no difference.
Its now 2 days later and decided to restore System Mechanic registry change and now find the Back up and restore works again!
