Color laserjet - printing even if a cartridge is low color strength?

Have a color laserjet (CM1415fnw) multifunciton. I get the warning that my Cyan cartridge is low and must be replaced. I get this message for some time, but yesterday the printer "decided" that it would be only print in black. I'm assuming that the firmware of the printer forces black only print when a color cartridge is too weak to "notice" the printer. Is there a way to defeat/override it?

I have the same problem as any computer, I use so I don't think it's a driver or configuration problem. I tried to adjust the warning on the printer at 5% level, but that did not help. I don't change anything else in the printer menu. Is there a setting that forces black (grey levels) that printing on the printer. Maybe somehow he has set wrong? I have disabled the function of levels of grey in my computers to the printer driver is configured to print in color.

I do very little color printing and I really don't like if the colors are not "perfect". Also, I'm the 'warning - replace cartridge' on my black cartridge for about two months before the print quality has declined to the point that I needed to replace the black cartridge. In other words, the 'warning' seems premature. I'm sure that it allows to sell HP cartridges, but it would be nice if the printer let me decide when to replace and not forcing me to black printing only.

Finally, I tried turning the printer and the computer power. Also, I took the cartridges, shook the and them reinserted. It did not help. The printer refuses to print in color.

Thank you

Clarice says:

A hope you don't ask me that!

Looked in the manual for your machine and haven't seen a thing to help. I suspect, like most printers that print in color, your model must all have cartridges in and properly functioning seized wil even attempt to print. (There are a few inkjet printers which print mode "backup", using one of the two cartridges).

Sorry no better news for you, but feel free to check the manual in case I missed something. This thing is huge!

Mary-

Thank you!!! Eureka... it worked. Thanks for your suggestion to look more closely to the guide to the printer.

Page 21 (see page 20 - system configuration Menu) there is an element called "very low." Go to "Color cartridges" and set this item to "Continue". Forces of printing color no matter how little the cartridges. (The system default is 'Black Print' which I'm sure that HP help sell more cartridges color long before they needed to be replaced.)

This saved me at least a few hundred dollars in the purchase of new color cartridges until I really need them! Thank you very much.

I read your post and see that you would like to know if the toner will always be good, even if the date is showing 20100422. I'd love to help you.

  • C7280 Guard color printing, even when I told it to print scale high quality grey or black and white

Why this STUPID printer keep printing in color even when I said it to print grayscale or black and white?  I have tried everything I know and it keeps doing.  Now it does not print because the pink cartridge is out!  This printer has cost me a lot of money!  Everyone knows this, or know what to do to fix it?  Maybe I am doing something wrong.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Helps with the size of the paper M1176n MFP HP laserjet printer/scanner color

I've just set up my new printer - HP MFP M1176n color laserjet printer/scanner.  I am based in the European Union and we use paper A4 - but for some reason, it seems to be the impression in a format suitable for American paper size.  Can anyone suggest how to change that?  It's almost as if she makes the smaller document to fit on what would be the American paper size.  But I use A4, and so there is a gap at the bottom of the page?  Thank you, S

    @Simon2014

Did you enter M176n instead of M1176n?

Click on the HP Printer Wizard and select game Preferences. The HP Print Wizard should be present if you have installed the full features of printer software and driver.

You can change the printing options in Windows to change the paper size by default for the metric equivalent.

be sure that you save the changes to the default paper size to A4.

  • I have a premeium 6700 officejet that printer will not print if ANY color cartridge is low or empty.

I have an Officejet 6700 Premium printer e all-in-one.  I can not print if ANY color cartridge is low or empty and black is full, and I want to print something that uses black ink.  Is this what can I do to print in black only without replacing color cartridges when they are not needed for the print job? Still, I can't make any impression unless all color cartridges are not low or empty.

  • Uneven printing with the new cartridge

I have a Color LaserJet 2605dn printer and have just replaced the magenta cartridge - previous leaked toner in the printer.

The new cartridge does not print evenly.  It is the color at the center of the page, gradually fading to almost nothing on both sides.  I printed several pages and gave the cartridge a series or shake well, nothing helps.  The other cartridges are more than half full and print perfectly.

This suggests a problem with the new cartridge?  Or is there anything else I can try?

    Thank you.

  • DeskJet 5500: When the printer uses the 57 cartridge?

I thank very you much for your reply to my last post. Makes perfect sense.

I'm doing a huge amount of B & W / grey scale printing; I use 56 about two cartridges a week and I reload them successfully for a few tens of cycles each.

My 57 cartridges also mpty very frequently while I print almost any color - the only color is perhaps a small logo on the page.

I tried to use the gray filter in Macintosh 10.4.11 system to send a grayscale image to the printer, but the 57 cartridge still empty quickly, even if the printed color is negligible.

If the page still contains the least amount of color, 57 cartridge automatically prints the whole page, or the cartridge 56 prints black and the 57 print the little bit of color?

If the 57 prints the whole page if it contains ANY color, is there anything I can do in the impression of New York to get the printer to use the cartridge 56 instead? I took to remove the cartridge 57, but when I put again, the printer goes through the cycle of test page, I want to avoid if I can.

Thanlk in advance for your help.  I can't tell you how much it means for a user that a knowledgeable HP employee has actually answered questions through this forum. Other companies to let users themselves, often to hang in the wind without usable responses.

Many use printers, not only HP, so-called 'underprinting' this is the pose of an ink of color on the page before the black ink.  Essentially, it is a primer for the paper.  The color dries quickly and is a base for black ink, allowing it to dry and cure without spreading out on the page.  If you have already printed with the cartridges out of alignment and saw a blue or magenta shadow to your text, you see the underprinting.  That's why, when the same printing black text, the printer uses a color ink.

This printer is able to print reserve mode, which means it can print with 1 single cartridge installed.  The printing speed may be slower, but it's an easy way to make sure you are not using any color.  For reserve mode, remove the cartridge you want to use.  (Find a hermetic place to store this vertical cartridge with the nozzles pointing down as it is when it is installed in the printer, or it will dry out and become useless!)  To leave the reserve mode, put a good cart in the empty slot.

  • Printer error message - Incompatible cartridge? !

I have the HP Photosmart D110 printer.

I tried to print from yesterday, but all of a sudden my printer gave me the incompatiable ink cartridge error message. But the ink is good. I bought the new ink 2 weeks ago and have been using it without problem until yesterday.

I did everything I could do to try to solve this problem. I took out the cartridges and it is the black cartridge which gives me the problem. It prints with color as the... back but if my black cartridge is where I get the error message.

I even took the cartridges and clean and everything. But nothing I seeme don't work. Please help me!

If you call HP Support at 800-474-6836 they should be able to help determine your warranty and replace your cartridge. Let me know what happens.

  • HP printers will print not with reloaded cartridges?

Maybe it's a bit long but I want to do it is as understandable as possible and get some HONEST response (s) from all the staff at HP.

I was having some printing problems with my printer of 2410XI Photosmart and posted my Questions a few days ago. I got some good feedback from the employee of HP and managed to do a print test very well! I was so happy to make progress.  This printer has given us months ago my wifes sister in our previous HP died. My wife REALLY wanted and needed a printer to work, but I couldn't make work so I gave up, until a few days ago and decided to read all I could then found this forum and decided to try to ask here before this one too. Just can't afford to go buy one, not at all, no how.

later last night I continued to get (when you try to print a simple text file) a box on registration as one. PDF file?  (Still have no idea of what a. PDF is LOL)

Go to 'start', control panel and then to "printers" and I saw mine with a yellow on it warning sign. I double clicked it and it said I was missing a file or update or something like that and asked me if I wanted HP to solve the problem? I clicked OK and it began to download something then finished. I closed this window and low and here is MY computer had a checkmark on it. Tried and print fine .txt file. I then printed a color image and it came out fine. Now, I'm totally jazze and my wife thinks I'm just great!

Now for the meat of this post...

I thought that my #56 black print cartridge was low so I called Costco to see if they could re - fill. Yes, $10.49. (Hey, I, m homesick like everyone else and nothing overlooked.) BUT! She then asks me if I ve got recently updated to HP, I say yes, last night, that I know of anyway.  She then tells me that HP put something in the recent updates that renders a non usable HP RE-FILLED cartridge when it is returned to the printer. Basically, he sees a low subscribed and then reinstalled ink complete and somehow, it is not allowed to operate, all I get is error messages. She said she learned this the hard way when she re-filled all its ink, but none wouldn't work. After a few serious investigations, she said it was all true and people come, get tested and re-filled cartridge only to put it back in and will not work. I asked him why it's now like that, simple... HP wants to sell their own ink and keep all the money for themselves. Somehow the printer and the computer can identify this cartridge now (thanks to some "update") and sees the same cartridge itself going to be low for now being full, so he is blocked for later use in the printer. Said she sees it every day because she has not been able to spread the word to all the staff and other stores yet.  She eventually repay almost every HP RE-FILLED cartridge if the customer wants to try anyway, even after what she told them that... Customers come back upset because they keep error messages and what 'seems' like a faulty cartridge. She told me not to bother to try to re - fill ANY genuine HP cartridge, simply run it until it will dry out, throw it away and go to target and pay a lot of money for a new cartridge.

Really sucks! For that HP sells ink for, they should sell the printers for $9.99 because you'll spend hundreds and hundreds on their ink! Would love to hear any HONEST responses from people here no matter what HP.

  • PSC 1400v 'check ink cartridges' seeing rest even with new cartridges

My COPS 1400v 'check ink cartridges' stays on even with new cartridges. I have Windows 7.  I followed the troubleshooting tips to clean the contact points, but not luck.  I bought a carton of off - brand, who worked for a few weeks.  This is the error message at startup.  I replaced the cartridges with the HP brand, but the error light does not turn off.  All advice is appreciated.  I know that this thing is so outdated, but that's all I have right now.  Thank you very much.

It looks like a case of rejection of the cartridge. You can have a bad ink cartridge, or something more serious. If you have tried all the steps in the document below, then you should try to do a hard reset. If this does not work, the cartridge may be bad and need replaced. Sometimes you get a bad right cartridge against the package. If after changing the cartridge again and again all the troubleshooting steps did not receive the printer print, then you may need to replace the printer.

    Check lights print cartridge flashing:
    http://goo.GL/viF23

    To do a hard reset:
    1. make sure that the printer is turned on.
    2. pull on the power cord from the printer.
    3. pull out the power cord from the wall.
    4. wait for 30 seconds.
    5. plug in the printer and turn it on.
