Comments of ESXi in Windows domain

I've created a guest virtual computer (Windows Server 2003) and imported in ESXi for testing purposes. I added the prompt to the Windows domain and all my tests have passed. Now, I need to use this feedback to replace a production system is the end of life. If I just rename the server (from within Windows) and he join the field to replace the production server, the domain will recognize this (just as he was when he was a physical production server) without changing any of the VMS file names?

All responses are much appreciated,

David

Fix.  Active Directory doesn't know that this server is running on a virtual machine.  All that is involved is Windows.

    Hello

We seek to add caching to the Apple services to our WIndows domain. It seems that we need a DNS server to do? Does anyone know the DNS settings, which can be placed on our servers DNS Windows to Apple devices point to the caching server?

    Thank you

If your PC can access the internet using your DC as DNS server (which is the usual case in an Active Directory environment) then you will should not do something else. But a man of what DNS it is, is not the same as another. Anther thing that you should be aware, that's if your environment uses a proxy. In which case you may need to this twist a bit then as caching and access is not limited somehow.

  • Questions, communicate with a Windows domain controller

I thought at first my user had a problem with Keychain and had finally called Apple Tech Support.  While on the line with Apple, we proved that it was not a question of Keychain, but rather a problem of communication with a windows domain controller. The key elements are:

    * Multiple users and Macs are members of an Active Directory multi-domain forest

    * iMac is a 27-inch, mid-2011w / 8 GB RAM

    * OS X 10.11.2 (updated 10.11.3)

    * Question appears isolated to this iMac (currently). All other iMac, Macbook Pro and Mac Pro is currently very well, several VIRTUAL LANs, and a MacBook connected to the connection of network iMacs can communicate properly with the domain.

    * iMac seems not to contact no matter what domain controller when connecting, but connects to the resources of the network and domain controllers, after login. Permissions and access to the resources appear normal after login.

    * User (s) cannot change passwords for mobile accounts or login with new mobile accounts, but accounts/passwords cached work very well.

    * iMac uses Symantec EndPoint Protection for Mac (anti-virus) – REQUIRED BY THE POLICY.  I can't change.  I have come off for the test, but must replace as soon as the test is completed. This policy is set at a level about five grades of remuneration above me.

    * It isn't really everything off the coast of the wall software installs on the computer.  The full Adobe Creative Cloud subscription is responsible, but so it is on just about every other mac I support.

The steps that have taken place:

    (1) about a month ago, the user went to change his password, but wouldn't go to change password at the login window.  We were able to change their password on the network and could use the new password to connect to the network Active Directory controlled resources. We can connect to resources network successfully with the new password, after we connect locally with the old password.

    (2) we get the red ball (the network resources are not available) to the login window. We are basically connecting with identification and passwords cached information.

    (3) if we try to change their password through the system preferences / users and groups / / password Chang, we get the message that no domain controller is available.

    (4) initially thought that it was a matter of trousseau, and we ended up calling Apple support, since Keychain first aid is no longer available in 10.11. Apple-Advisor while that remote, showed where it was not a question of Keychain because we could not change the password on the domain, because the iMac didn't communicate with a domain controller.

    (5) while on the phone with Apple, we reset SMC and NVRAM without success.

    (6) If you are going to untie the iMac in the domain, a message that the system cannot communicate with a domain controller.

    (7) today, thinking that maybe there was a hardware problem with the ethernet connection, tried to use the private WiFi network. Still would not communicate with a controller domain, but, as if using the wired, could connect to network resources. This happens independently attempted account.

    (8) used a MacBook on its network without any problem, it is not the connection port or switch

    (9) moved his iMac to another connection on one VLAN different. Same question.

I'm open to suggestions. I have two days to work on this subject, around the planning of production of the user, while I'm off site for a week.

    10) thinking that maybe it was something that happened with 10.11.2, he improved to 10.11.3 today. No change.

I don't want to try to clean and recharge its iMac, in the hope that this clears up the issue.

    ANY SUGGESTIONS?

    A few additional tests.

    (1) Symantec deleted using Symantec CleanWipe, without modification. Has been reinstalled after additional tests and a reinstallation of the operating system.

    (2) being ran reports, visualization and research now, but nothing is really coming out as noticeable. Only problem seems to be a helper of Adobe

    (3) use a bootable USB key and had no problem with the thumb drive version, this isn't somehow a hardware problem.

    4) entered the recovery partition and the re-installed El Capitan, in the hope that perhaps, is a pilot or something in the protocol stacks have been corrupt, a reinstall would correct. Reinstall has not corrected the problem.

I'm really strongly leaning towards here is something in a plist or somewhere configuration file that is corrupted, but I don't know where this would be right now.  Will continue research and testing. Last resort will be a wipe up to bare metal and a clean install. I will not migrate the profile of the user, but only its working files.

  • Migrate Office 365 Cloud identities to a NEW on-Prem Windows domain

    Hello

Our company has about 120 users. All users are Office 365 cloud identity using Windows computers 10. We don't currently have a Windows domain. All users authenticate to their Office 365 account. It is today.

We now want to set up a Windows domain on award-winning local, with local domain controllers. We would like to migrate the identities of Cloud Office 365 120 or so to our NEW on-prem Windows domain. We'll keep our Office 365 services, if we want to enable federated identity then the Office 365 user accounts and local domain users accounts are synchronized and also use SSO.

According to this link (Azure Connect UserWriteBack?), Microsoft removed the 'User write-back' feature in the tool MS Azure Active Directory Connect that seems to have been what we must perform this function.

Is there currently a supported migration method to reach our goal?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Shortcuts in Menu start don't work (Windows domain)

    Hello everyone.

I have a mysterious ailment. The environment is:

-Server: Windows Server 2003 R2 with windows domain

    -laptop: Windows Vista SP2

For users in the domain who work on PC Windows Vista shortcuts stored on drive O: location: 'O:\menus\VPoziomD '.

Location: 'O:\menus' is shared on a network.

When the user (eg. "student012d") which is in the 'PoziomD' group connects to Windows Vista PC to the domain:

This site (O:\menus\VPoziomD) is mounted as location of apps from the START Menu (shortcuts).

This is a nuisance. When student012d is logged in the shortcuts do not work. I'm clicking on shortcut but nothing happen.

When I do nothing and wait for a long time, and I come back to this PC, I click on the shortcut and everything works.

What's wrong? Where could be a problem? I have spent 5 days to solve this problem, but without success. :(

It probably isn't a network problem, because I changed my switch to another, but it is not a solution to my problem.

    Thank you community. Adam.

  • Authentication computer certificate and windows domain check

    Hello

We intend to deploy machine? s certificates of authentication for wifi users.

We want to check the validity of the certificate of the machine and that the machine is included on the windows domain.

We intend to use EAP - TLS:

    -A CA server.

-each machine (laptop) retrieves its own certificate to GPO or SMS

-the public certificate of the CA is pushed on GBA as well as on each machine (laptop)

-ACS version is the one device

-a remote ACS agent installed on the A.D.

-When a user intends to log on to the wireless network:

-(device ACS) server sends its certificate to the client. This client checks the certificate with the certificate of the CA server there already trust, results: the customer also hope the ACS? s certificate signed by the CA server.

-the client sends its certificate on the server (ACS unit). This ACS checks the certificate with the certificate of the CA server there already trust, results: GBA also hope the customer? s certificate signed by the CA server but the ACS also checks to see that the certificate isn't? t revocated (GBA check it thanks to the CA CRL server? certificates revocation list).

I'm right about these previous points?

And then my question is: is it possible to check that the machine is also included in the windows domain?

In other words, is it possible for the candidate countries get the necessary field (maybe CN? certificate type "host /...") "), and then do an authentication request to the AD (active directory) with the remote agent of GBA? We just want machine authentication, the authentication of the user not.

Thanks in advance for your attention.

    Best regards

    Arnaud

    Hi Arnaud,.

    You are right.

Once the Remote Agent is configured correctly. And clients are configured correctly.

It will work the way you want.

    Another option to consider,

Also check 'enable machine access restrictions '.

Click on the text in performance and Maintenance, administrative tools and then double-click local security policy to start the local Security Policy Management Console.

Under security settings, expand local policies item by clicking on + (plus sign) and select Security Options. Double-click Interactive logon: do not need CTRL + ATL + DEL, click the enabled option button and click OK.

Regarding the script process is concerned, I recommend that you check out (good!) M Script Center $ (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/default.mspx). Please be careful with the scripts, especially if you work in a corporate environment...

  • Mobile environment to the new Windows domain

We are moving our environment to a new Windows domain. Of course, it is a change in working capital, so some servers/clients will be moved while for once, others will remain. I'm looking for advice on when should I change the new domain VMware hosts, but also the Virtual Center. Do I have to have all guest operating system moved into the new field, before moving the hosts VMware and virtual center? I know it's a DNS issue that issue area... the new domain using different IP addresses for the DNS as the old.

You can simply configure a DNS zone in the new field that passes to the DNS servers of the old domain, or create records for the esx hosts in the new DNS domain before you migrate their?

Guests will work regardless of the host servers as long as they can see the appropriate domain / DNS servers, so you should be able to make them as and when you need.

  • VMWare Server on Windows domain recovery network

    Hello

I will build a network of recovery of Windows domain I want to place the Windows Server version 2.0 of VMWare Server freeware. We already have and VI3.5 cluster, but I don't really want to create a new one in our network of recovery offline just welcomed a couple of servers. I want to create two servers on that host virtual machines.

My question is, can I create a server image to import into this version using the VMWare converter to option ""Stand-alone virtual VMWare machine? '" It seems that it is possible, since VMWare Server 1.x is a listed option. I'm looking for a validation test before going forward with this plan.

    Thank you

A good starting point is the chapter networking in the user guide - http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vmserver2.pdf

By default, vmnet0 is filled and vmnet8 is NAT, although it does not matter really as long as you choose the eCard directly in your virtual machine.

Looks like you need to disable the automatic bypass in vmnetcfg.exe and then activate the bypass on the host of the NETWORK card that you really want the virtual machines to use. This may be vmnet0 or you can choose one of the unused vmnet adapters *-just make sure that you select the right one when you configure the VM vmnetcfg.exe. Make sure runs in as long as administrator and you also need to restart the VMware services before the VI client or web interface, will pick up the changes.

Not sure the upgrade option - possibly be willing to upgrade the version of the virtual hardware, you need only to do if you want to enjoy things like USB 2.0 support. I leave mine to version 4 so that the VI/vSphere client can change the settings for the virtual machine. It could also refer to upgrading VMware tools although I doubt it's necessary.

  • Adding an ESX3i server to a windows domain

    Hello

I have a server with ESX3i installed and working properly. My question is this: is it possible to add the ESX3i server to a windows domain?

I would like to be able to access the server to ESX3i by its name rather than its IP address, especially since I need to use the DHCP protocol within our corporate network.

    Kind regards

    Alexandre Perez

Hello and welcome to the forums.

Sounds like what you really want is the name resolution with the DNS servers of your Windows domain.

If your DHCP server is configured dynamically updated DNS, then you should be fine.  Another option would be to set up a reservation in DHCP for your ESX host and then add an entry in DNS for him.

    Good luck!
