How to solve the communication error series of HP34970?
I want to use the serial port to commnucation between pc and hb34970. Using gpib, it's ok. But in serial mode, report the error. just like that:
for com2 layout:
16:11:47.359 26-8-2009 [Init_dq_Device] error:-1073807339 - HP34970A Initialize.vi-> Init_DQ_Device.vi-> main_app.vi VISA read.visa name: ASRL2::INSTR
for the implementation of com1:
16:13:25.921 26-8-2009 [Init_dq_Device] error:-1073807339 - HP34970A Initialize.vi-> Init_DQ_Device.vi-> main_app.vi VISA read.visa name: ASRL1::INSTR
I don't know the meaning of 1073807339 and if I should together: ASRL1::INSTR for com1. Can someone help me on this problem.
Thank you very much.
fix my Subvi.
MMM,
I think that you can check your cable again. Cable series come two types, Straight (patch) or null. This is because the serial devices can be DCE (Data Communications Equipment) and DTE (Data Terminal Equipment). You have proven the cable is good using it with another piece of equipment, but you have not proven that it is the right TYPE of cable frompg 273 of the manual you need a null-modem cable is the DTE instrument
Consult the manual of user 34790A. You must also implement the 34790A wait RS232. From the front panel, you will need to access the menu of the interface and select RS - 232 and configure the port settings. Did you do that? Verify that the port settings match the yourPC com port settings
Another problem with Set - very common up is to connect to the interface of trigger/alarm by mistake. The serial port is the lower connector 9 pins on the back panel of the 34790As

Hello
I want to order an instrument via a Labview serial port, but I am unable to communicate properly with him. It works perfectly when I use Hyper Terminal, but as soon as I use the ' basic series write and Read.vi ", I have a timeout problem. 'Write' does not give me an error, but the "read" never works. Unfortunately, no or the controls seem to work. That seems to be a communication problem.
Here are the parameters of communication for this instrument:
Baud rate: 115200
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1
Parity: None
Flow control: no
Charaters termination: \r\n
By MAX, the communication port is OK and I am able to open the test Panel. Howerver, I'm not able to access information when I ask a query, or there is no action to simple commands.
Thanks for your help
StarFiber wrote:
I used the example of LV2009: Advanced Serial write and Read.vi. Just to make sure that I don't have a mistake in coding. I just did the current value as a default value, so you can see what I actually sent to the instrument.
I guess that you do not actually send * IDN? given that it is not even a command that is supported by the instrument.
The Canadian standard requires that you cancel orders in writing with BOTH a \r and \n. Using the 'end writing with stop character?' only the \n is sent as it is what is on the stop character. It is unclear how the device responds, or not at all, if she did not see the \r and \n. So disable this option, the "string to write" play to display in '-' codes mode (right click and select in the context menu) and enter the command, followed by \r\n. otherwise, you could leave this option on, but you must make sure that you add \r to your order in the text box "string to write.

Hello
I am trying to acquire data of a device through serial communication. Now the unit will only display information when the event occurs. I know I can stop the read visa expire, but then the program will constantly be in a blocking state until the reading is made. Is there a better way to do this than to sit and wait for the string to pass through the port?
Thank you
You use a termination character. This is good because it is easy to get full messages. Normally you do not use bytes to the Port and termination of the characters at the same time as they tend to fight with each other.
In this change to your VI, it checks the bytes to port. If the value is zero, it waits 100ms and check again. The 100 ms is arbitrary. If you need to detect a response from the device faster than that, the value can be reduced. It foolish to reduce under about 16 ms if it is the length of the messages because it akes on this long of 16 bytes to transmit. Once the number of bytes is greater than zero, which he calls reading VISA who will wait until the stop character is received.
It is not a good idea to have a moment which runs in a loop forever. If you use the button Cancel to stop the program, STOP. Stop in this way does not close the port and can lead to complications. A participant of the Forum, long said something like this: using the button abandon to stop a VI is similar to the use of a tree to stop a car. It works, but can have unintended consequences.

Problem with the treatment of the communication data series
I'm working on the communication between LabVIEW and my PIC Microcontroller UART. It works quite well with character Txn & Rxn.But I am facing problems in transmiting and receiving the hexadecimal numbers. through this interface. First of all, is possible to transmit & receive these numbers without ASCII to character conversion & vice versa? and is there an effective technique to deal with our hexagonal. written in the controls of the channel for transmission?
Hi all
Thanks for the reply... I tried the things you all suggested and eventually got in the way to communicate with our hexagonal... .. More information can be obtained at:

Communication problem series with 321 Lakeshore
Hello
First of all, I would like to apologize if this question has already been answered in the forums, but I could not find any solution for this situation.
I have a temperature of Lakeshore 321 regulator connected to the serial port using RJ-11 cable and the interface connector series OF-9 configured as DTE. Since there is none OR certified pilot in the Web site of NOR, I tried to write my own based on 332 pilot. I have read the (current temperature) LS321 data for a while last week. But then I tried to read the data each time, it kept me gives error as shown in the attachment.
Any contributions to this issue would be most appreciated!
You would be better to use the VI series set up. It will also activate the stop character and set it for you.

Communication problem series with USB serial Hub
Hi, I have a communications problem when I use an NI USB - 232 (778472 - 01) adapter to control a pressure sensor. There are a lot of posts about it in the forum, but I calmly something a little different. I can't use MAX to control the instrument with the VISA test Panel. So I guess that the USB-232 driver is correctly installed. However, in labivew, even if I choose the instrument source of visa name, it always returns an error (-1073807339) when I run the program. The screenshot of the labview program is attached. Could someone kindly help me with this problem. Thank you very much.
The system is XP SP 3 Pro.
The version of Labview is 8.6.
The MAX version is 4.5.0f0.
If port by default windows settings exactly match the settings you need for communication, you can get lucky and it will work. If only one parameter is different, it won't work.
It is always better to define the parameters in your code.
Shane.

Hello
I am gettting a continuous string of data from a device. The problem is that whenever I launch my app, I get always an error dialog box or warning. On which his writings to continue or stop. Please take a look at my code and error window.
After string of device, I only did the string tokenzing. It should work but its gives me a problem.
Concerning
Malik Imran
You are all first, set up the serial port at the beginning of each loop and close at the end. It would be preferable to configure the serial port before the start of the loop, then close it after that it ends. Why the delay after you first configure the serial port?
The error message is that data coming in faster that you read out of the buffer. How fast data arrives? How fast the loop works, in particular this inner loop where the data are currently analyzed?
What is the incoming data message? If it's the same length, every time, it would be better to read that many bytes rather than just asking the number of bytes in the buffer and only the reading. If the message is short, you'd have incomplete data for your scanner. Might be better to read the bytes inside inside any looping and that stops once you have a complete message.
Is attached a cleaned up version of your code with the narrow port functions moved outside the time and configure loop.

MB series slave Demon &; dialog
Hello
I don't have an answer on the french forum. I try here.
I have a problem with the 'MB series slave Demon vi"(NI MODBUS). In fact, when I open a dialog box (file or message) in a parallel to "MB series slave Demon.vi" loop, the "communication MB series slave Demon.vi" stop with the master (reading / writing of registers). "." The problem is that the method of ExecVI (sorry I have the french version) in ' MB series call wait on Query.vi ' (see image below) does not give the hand until the dialog box is displayed. Why? :
Model 'MB series example Slave.vi' modified attached, I added to the event structure an Add button to see the problem. This example can be tested with 'MB series example Master.vi'.
Any idea?
Thank you
I don't understand why the method does not have the hand. But to solve the problem, I replaced ' MB series call wait on Query.vi ' by 'MB series wait on Query.vi.

I want to compare live data that leaving a device series after every two seconds.
Hello
He is Mohammad. I am new user of labview.
I'm working on an instrument of communication in series. In two seconds, I coded for a single data point of the instrument. My problem is I want to compare the current data point with the previous immediate. How can I compare each time that the current data point with the previous. Can someone help me please?
With impatience.
Mohammad
If you graph these data:
Replace the while loop with a loop For.So if wire you the data out of the loop, it will be automatically built into an array.
This array can be passed to a chart in Microsoft graph if you want.

Virtual serial port: no bytes to the serial port before you read visa
Hi I want to use LabView for data acquisition in real time from my dc servo motors. I'm new to LabView, so I will try to do the same thing with virtual port. I am writing some data (a sinusoidal wave) to the virtual port and can read and display it on the chart. the writing part just works that we see in the hyper terminal. but he's not reading anything. the number of bytes to port is zero. I tried to put the number of bytes in visa read manually, but it does not work. I have attached my code below. any comment is appreciated. Thanks in advance
This is just the basics of how communication works series. To do a reading without any instrument, you loopback (short) the transmission line to the receiving line. For a connector 9 pins, you short-circuit pins 2 and 3. If you have not done this, I do not understand where you thought you could do a reading of.
In any case, if you have servos that are controllable of RS - 232, it isn't likely that the series is even close to what you do a closure won't tell you much more that the converter is functional. When you have a real instrument connected, you still need to debug settings com (baud, parity, handshake), type of cable (null-modem or directly through) and the actual orders that you send to the instrument and its answers.

Airport Extreme dislike gigabit speed
I'm having a strange problem. Backstory... I have an older Ooma VoIP device. It works very well. The connection is Modem > Ooma > router - my modem (ARRIS Surfboard SB6141) and I use Airport Extreme. When the devices are connected as indicated everything works fine. The modem has a 'connection' light which is orange with this configuration. According to the manual of the modem, this light indicates Ethernet (10Base-T) or Fast Ethernet (100Base-T) is running. When I remove the Ooma system and connect the modem directly to the router, the yellow led lights up blue saying that the signal that the modem sends is now a high-speed Gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-T). Sounds great, but my router then ceases to broadcast and distribute a signal, directly and without wire connected with a cat6 cable.
You could say, then leave him alone and I can do, but I'm willing to reconfigure my system with updated Ooma device, and causes my modem from orange to blue, thus losing my Wi - Fi. I talked to Arris (modem does not work as expected), I talked to Ooma (if the signal is working on their device, they see not the problem). So that the leaves of the router. Can anyone figure out what's going on? Why did I lose my signal when I go directly from the modem to the router when the speed seems to be better? (Yes, I restart both modem and router in the right order).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
David
It seems that your Ooma device only supports (up to) 100 Mbps Ethernet connections. On the other hand, does your AirPort Extreme support 1 Gbps Ethernet.
The reason why you can be make connectivity issues when connecting your Arris modem to an extreme that is there has been many positions related to this. Specifically and the problem of incompatibility between the SB61XX series modems and airport base stations. This is not bad in themselves, they just don't "play well" together. Typical complaints is poor, transfer rate, and inconsistent Internet connectivity.
Basically, you have two choices:
- Replace the Arris modem with another modem series of non-SB61XX. If you plan to go this route, you must select a modem recommended by your ISP.
- Replace your extreme with a non-Apple router.

Installation of Win XP OS on Portege 3490CT
I'm trying to install XP Pro on my 3490CT. Looking at this forum, it seems that a large number of owners of 3490CT is installed this OS on the unit.
Can anyone provide me with the Protocol of installation for this facility? What do I need, what order drivers need to be installed, etc.? I have all the drivers known for this unit of W98, W2k, and made interesting enough XP (Toshiba's official US site).
My unit has 384 k ram, and media port replicator.
I already posted a request on this forum that explains in detail the problem I had with XP on this unit (1 / / 6/06 - aswnys).
The operating system works well but I have no communications function at all; [i.e. internal network/modem, network on the port replicator, usb device (wireless) network, the network (cable/wireless) pcmcia card all cannot be enabled in the operating system].
Has anyone installed XP on this unit and has the function of comprehensive communication (modem/network]?
The aircraft had W2k installed. Installing XP is an upgrade that includes SP2.
I would appreciate any guidance on this.
Andrew
Hi Andrew
It's always a great challenge to install newer OS on older models. Try to install the operating system and if you need drivers for some hardware components to write again. Maybe we can identify the hardware parts and find the drivers to download from producer page.
Please let us know how it works. I have a Portege 7200 but I didn t try installing WXP yet.
Good bye
