  • Help! How to reset the CMOS on 3000 N200 model 0769?

    Hello

I need to reset the CMOS (the memory that contains the BIOS settings) on my laptop Lenovo 3000 N200 model 0769. Is it possible to do it without having to remove or the CMOS battery to short physically?

If I have to remove the battery, where is he? On other models of 3000 N200, the battery is under the keyboard and is removable (shown in the video on www.lenovoservicetraining.comand maintenance manual). However, for the model 0769 there no specific information. Page 99 of the service manual for the 0769 (42 x 3353 - 02.pdf on the Lenovo site) has a graph that shows what might be the CMOS battery near the right side of the main Board. Unfortunately it may well be soldered to the card, not removable.

Can anyone confirm if the CMOS battery is soldered to the motherboard?

It is possible that the CMOS is corrupted so that the POST/BIOS Setup screen does not appear. In this case, you need to reset the CMOS manually, for example by removing the CMOS backup battery, "a brick" laptop.

Fortunately, there is a way to reset the CMOS for the Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 model, which does not require the battery to remove or disable welded. It is not documented in the maintenance manual, but it can be extremely useful. If your machine sounds just a few times when you turn it on (Nothing on the screen, otherwise machine appears dead), it should reset the CMOS because that could save you having to RAM of the laptop, or pay $$$ for the out-of-warranty repair.

Turn off the laptop, remove the battery and the AC adapter / CC. Remove the access panel that covers the hard drive and the wireless card. Look at the corner of the CCP in the front of the wireless card. There are two metal tracks exposed labeled CLRP1. You must bypass these tracks together for a few seconds.

You can use the end of a small head screwdriver flat metal or if you have a multimeter set it to measure current and put a probe on each track.

After doing this the laptop must turn on correctly. He will tell you that the time and date is not defined, and that the CMOS checksum is bad. This is normal when the CMOS was reset. Press F1 to access the menu.

  • Compaq Presario CQ56: What is the best CPU upgrade I can do for my Compaq Presario CQ56?

What can improve my current AMD V140 to?

    Hello

The following link shows the specifications of your computer:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02542735

Not much you can do with the following list

But if you want, please use the page 75 the following manual shows you how to replace the CPU on your machine:

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02657369.PDF

My suggestion: don't waste money to upgrade, save more money to buy the new machine. Now your machine is a bit old and new machines are much cheaper than 5 or 6 years before.

    Kind regards.

  • Compaq Presario CQ56-112SA: updated the Chipset drivers

I had a "sleep mode" problem with my laptop recently in that, if I select 'sleep' the laptop screen goes black, the fan continues to run and doesn't wake up with the keyboard or the mouse. I then turn off and turn on then and Notepad opens in "Windows Error Recovery".

It was suggested that I should update the chipset drivers as a possible solution.

Are there risks in doing this?

    Hello:

According to the AMD Web site, it would be the last chipset driver for the chipset that has your model.

    http://support.AMD.com/en-us/download/chipset?OS=Windows%207%20-%2064

You can also run the auto detects a software and see if amd draws a different driver and try this one first.

    http://support.AMD.com/en-us/download

Risk to install guide are that driver not install, or if it's the operating system does not start on reboot.

Can't tell you what would be the chances of something bad happening.  I would say not very high.  But if your luck is like mine, then...

Another problem could be the graphics driver.  You may want to reinstall that where some files display driver got screwed up over time.

  • boot volume not mountable on presario cq56 - 219wm laptop

can someone help me please... I have no drives for this laptop.  I have no idea how solve this thing, it was working fine before bed and now it isn't. I managed to control a number of things by reading this forum. I got a code that says "unmountable boot volume" I did a hard reboot as it said and that did nothing. I tried repairing the system when she appeared, did nothing. I tried to do safe mode, but I can't tell if it of in there or not. After loads of windows logo I get a blue corrugated (a bit like a curtian blowing in the Breeze) of the screen and the mouse shows but nothing else, start no button, no icon of shortcut... nothing. I've had a few years but it has barely been used and when it is used its especially for printing photos from my camera. HELP HELP HELP PLEASE!

    Hello

The error code will be a Smart failure or disk Self Test - in both cases, this would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with startup error.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

  • Presario cq62-219wm modernization of the CPU.

I'm upgrading to the processor in my Presario cq62-219wm.  The following question was asked several times but I can not anywhere on this forum when he responded. The maintenance manual gives a list of compatible processors that can be used for the upgrade. The problem is the manual says you can use the X processor if your laptop is a

model 1.1 or you can use the processor Y if your mobile phone is a model 1.2. Question: How do you determine if your Presario cq62-219wm is a 1.1 or 1.2 I can't find an answer to this question. Thank you for your help.

    You are welcome @CactusClif

I am pleased that you have upgraded the processor that was the original intent. I'm sorry that my suggestions did not help find the revision version number.

Great to hear that this laptop playing very well now.

  • Reset the Bios / CMOS battery

    Hi guys,.

Get a blank screen on the first reboot after disabling startup secure following the procedure described in this link: -.

    http://h20565.www2.HP.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.page/public/KB/docDisplay/?sp4ts.Oid=5295884&SPF...

    Laptop is

    Product - F5Y33UA #ABA

    Model - 15-d017d

(That's all the info on the back, no product line... eg pavillion, desire, etc.)

Tried a hard reset but no joy. Looking at a few other posts on this forum, it seems that the next logical step would be to reset the CMOS. The problem is I can't find any documentation about this laptop anywhere, so not sure of the procedure. If someone can point me in the right direction of a maintenance guide / manual user it would be much appreciated.

    See you soon

    BIOS may have gotten corrupted.
But I do not see disable secure boot to make it. You would update of the BIOS recently.

Is your HDD rotation in power? Any beeps or flashing of the LED?

Restoration of the BIOS is the option left if nothing is coming than just the purple screen, on commissioning.
You try to restore several times,.

I guess that your system is installed with Win 8.1 x 64,.
Try to Flash the BIOS with a key USB. You can download the latest being from here to an empty USB, taken in - try restore key combination at the same time you turn on the system.

    Hello

Assuming you are using Windows 7, try the following.

If you do not, use another PC to create a Windows 7 recovery CD.  Download the ISO relevant among the links below - if you are unsure, your laptop is listed as having a 64-bit installation...

    Windows 7 32 bit

    Windows 7 64 bit

You must use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.

Demarrer start from the rescue CD, select repair your computer and choose the command line.  When this charge, enter the following commands and press on enter after everyone – including spaces as shown.

    Bootrec.exe

    bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup

    c:

    Boot CD

    BCD attrib s h - r

    Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old

    Bootrec /RebuildBcd

    Bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

Remove the rescue CD and try to restart now.
