Compaq dx2250 recovery XP Pro SP2 cannot be updated to SP3 with IE6

Greetings!

Recently, I used the Restore Manager to address problems on a Compaq dx2250 winXP Pro. In its previous state, as he was limping, he uses the automatic updates, as they were, when SP3 was released.  SP3 was installed as was IE8 and everything in the world for this PC was fine.

Restoration, I now have a computer well cleaned up, but I am unable to download the SP3 and the included IE Update.  Of course, this has an impact on other things.

I've been using one of the options are a lot of apps from third parties such as web browser Firefox and Thunderbird as well as AVG anti-virus e-mail.  Not really happy that. I wish I had the machine running the MS software as much as possible.  I know the AVG or equivalent is now because Security Essentials is not available. However, SP3 seems like it would be good to have.

I did install XP Pro and get 3 SP using restore disks, however, I haven't used the Restore Manager but was not able to get the goodies provided with the PC HP.  Perhaps I missed something?

Well, any help that someone can afford to share would be greatly appreciated.

Best to all!

Thanks CherylG. Your link with the XP SP3 was what put me on the road to recovery.  With XP now an orphan, it takes a lot of research and help from people like you and Nuccii bring ordinary people back on the right track.

So here is a wrapup of what I've done:

Downloaded the SP3 link that you gave me. This allowed me to keep the customizations of look-and-feel of HP, but no longer use the recovery partition.

I then used the partitan of recovery to store all downloads, while they would not get lost as well as a few instructions.

Then, to find my way to the Soft32 site, I found the download of IE8 and a few other things, thanks in part using Nuccii.

Finally, I added and antivirus (Avast) to protect the things and the "little registry cleaner" just store things in the registry.

Thus, the dx2250 Revit! Thank you. I'll put a "resolved" on this response.

  • Satellite A210-1BX: XP Pro SP2 cannot change the brightness of the display

    Hello

    I have a 1BX A210 and I installed XP Pro with Service Pack 2.
I have almost all the drivers one moment I can't use the FN keys so I can't change my screen brightness and the battery life is less than 90 minutes.

With Vista, the duration of battery life was less than 100 min.

Is there another driver, I need?

    > I have almost all the drivers one moment I can t use the FN keys so
I wonder where you found compatible and support the XP drivers for this laptop?

I asked it because I ve a laptop computer A210 too which belongs to the series PSAELE like yours.

I have collected unique different A210/A200 series XP drivers and especially all unknown devices disappeared from the Device Manager.
But unfortunately I didn't find any compatible tool/utilities for this series :(

But the fact is that Toshiba driver page does not have all the drivers XP and Toshiba Satellite A210 PSAELE tools.
This is why you will not be able to control and use the keys FN under XP OS

Sorry, but in my opinion there is not a lot to do

  • (Surface Pro 2) Cannot perform updates

I recently started my Surface Pro 2 for the first time in a while, and he started to be updated on what I guess was Windows 8.1. However, towards the end, updates failed and I have now the following message appears:

    We couldn't finish the updates

Do not turn off your computer

There is no error code, and I guess I fell on the same question that most of the others seem to have had before. I can't do a boot image, my laptop runs windows 7, making it impossible for me to boot into recovery mode. And because I can't get to the desktop, I can't restart and refresh.

I'd appreciate any help, I like the product and want to continue using it.

    Hi Jordan,.

I understand how frustrating it can be when things do not work as expected.

You can consult the following Microsoft article if you can't turn on the Surface Pro 2.

  • Re: Satellite Pro A120: cannot select an option on the recovery disk

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120, which has recently been faced with the "alert: System protection failure! "password:" problem that it turned up on some BIOS password unknown on its own in the middle of normal operation.

I got that fixed local Toshiba ASP.
But now, when I was about to reinstall the Windows cos she had slow, the possibility that the recovery media normally give to just format the first partition become invalid.

In the settings dialog box, the option is always there but it cannot be selected by clicking on it (from the color of the background showing this option not valid currently)... which means that the only selection (selected by default) is format all of the 38 GB... I don't want to do.

Someone knows what is wrong and how can I solve this problem.

I assume that you are using Windows XP and the restore CD also contains the XP operating system.
It s also interesting if this option has worked in the past?  :|

However, it s really mysterious that the solution cannot be executed and unfortunately I do not know why it happened

In the worst case, you'll have to back up data from the HARD drive and format the whole HARD drive :(

  • Load the new XP Pro SP2 OS on Portege R200

I have a R200, bought in Russia (where I work). I want to install an English version of XP Pro SP2.

I intend to reformat and install from scratch. Then load all the utilities of Tosh from a CD, I created.

Loading the XP CD and restart then the installation of Win XP Pro does not recognize Toshiba PCMCIA DVD Rom CD - RW I plugged.

So I created the 6 boot disks for SP2 on the site of Ms.

I start from the startup disk, all goes well but until I get to disk 6. Next, I get the windows error blue screen exception etc.

Beyond that, I can't get to format the drive for a new installation.

When start I have now the option for the Win XP Pro and WIn XP Russian, although the latter is going into the installation routine that cannot see a CD drive Yes F3 and restart.

    Any ideas?

As far as I know that you need a support disk Toshiba (PCMCIA card 16-bit cardbus)
I found an info that the readers should work:

    -PA3352E - 1 CD 2

To my knowledge, you must press button P and it should be possible to start PCMCIA player. To boot from the disk, you must use the C key.

  • Reinstall windows xo pro sp2/sp3?

Have a laptop with Windows XP Pro SP2 and it is 32-bit. I want to reinstall the OS, but I do not have the CD. How to do this? Where can I get the operating system? Can I download it from any source? Any link?

Now the latest service pack for XP's SP3. So I can download SP3 from the windows website and install it in my pc. Is it free? At the bottom of my pc

There is a sticker that shows the product key. But I think it's the product key of Windows XP SP2. I want to know that can I download XP SP3 and use this product key to reinstall the OS? Am I wrong?

Please explain in detail what to do after I downloaded the OS? I want to download on another computer. How to make a CD so that I can install windows via a CD?

Probably, your laptop has a depression recovery accessible by the F key or modified mechanism F (for example Ctrl) key at boot time. To learn more about this we need the details of your laptop (brand and model). You can find this documented somewhere in the start menu or in a booklet that came with the laptop.

In addition, there are probably a facility to create your own recovery CD/DVDs. Again, look in the start menu and in any document paper. If this facility exists, you should do so as soon as possible because it's your only method of recovery in case of hard drive failure.

Otherwise recovery integrated and/or the creation of recovery media, you will need to contact the manufacturer for recovery media.

You can download a standalone SP3 Installer of...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=24

.. .This is only a service pack installation, not a full installer of XP operating system. You can ignore the text which says that it is for network installations and also ignore the text informing Windows/Microsoft Update If a single update of a PC. You will not request a product key.

Indeed you will need this installer of SP3 update of the OS until Windows Update will be operational. Install it before even to try Windows Update.

Recovery of the manufacturer would not normally require the entry of the product key of your sticker. But if this is the case, the key on the sticker is good for recovery and updates including SP3.

After recovery, you must uninstall any AV solution came pre-installed, do the SP3 upgrade without being connected to the internet and then install Microsoft Security Essentials for which a standalone installer can be downloaded here, for example...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=5201

    .. .or here...

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Security-Essentials-download

Then you can connect to the internet and download MSE (or alternative AV) updates and Windows updates.

A standalone IE8 installation program can be downloaded here...

  • Product key not recognized during a repair of xp pro sp2 on a genuine xp pro sp2 disk. stuck on the main screen of the product.

After starting problems on my Toshiba satellite with xp pro sp2, I booted my xp pro sp2 disk and did a repair instead of a reinstall software.  He went through the motions, removed the sys files, copied them back and so on.  Then he asked my product key and I typed in it and it does not recognize.  It's a real bought copy of xp pro sp2.  Now, I'm stuck on the main screen of the product.  When I start the laptop on the xp disk it blue screens, the only option I have is to enter a product key in the configuration...  I have my receipt for my xp pro disk and product key for certification sticker.  Help, please!

"XP MCE Pro? That is not normal! It would be one or the other (AFAIK). Here is an example:

    http://cdn2.ioffer.com/IMG/item/811/353/46/o_XyuQav94U1MQ0Ci.jpg

If the hybrid you mention is the real thing, it's new to me! I know that some have described as a superset of Pro MCE, but I never used this version, so I can't tell you definitively that a COA sticker wouldn't this combo of terms...

In addition, the term 'Enterprise Edition' implies something not legitimate. I do not think that Microsoft has never used the term marketing for Windows.

If you had a legitimate retail version of Windows XP (any version) that is not used on another PC, you can perform a Clean Install (not a repair installation), using this key (not the key COST laptop). The only way you can use the key from your laptop COST would be if you used the correct installation CD - a generic OEM version of the corresponding XP (MCE?) version. In this way, you can perform a clean installation or a repair installation.

Have you looked at the links I posted? What do you mean by "boot option? The instructions were to press the zero key while turning on the laptop. You are not supposed to enter the OS! The recovery partition is quite distinct.

If your laptop does not a recovery partition, you should be able to get the correct recovery CD for this Toshiba - by Toshiba or you might need to find a reputable eBay merchant, etc.. Restoredisks.com, who has a good rating from Better Business Bureau, they probably sold too.
