Compaq Presario SR1739UK update

I have a Compaq Presario SR1739UK I want to upgrade the RAM, graphics card and processor so that in series Windows 7 much more quickly than he is and get all the features of Windows 8 (except touch, of course). It's my kids PC, so while I want them to do well enough, it will not be used for the online games or something like that, especially it will be used for web browsing and streaming of media through media library, so I don't want to spend a lot of money. Before I go ahead and buy all the parts I wanted to check that I can do and if there are traps I need to know.

RAM

It's easy, I replace just the existing cards to 2 x 512 MB with 2 x 1 GB cards

Graphics

This PC has an ATI Radeon Express chipset built in. I understand that I can not remove it, but I should be able to add a graphics card on the PCI or PCI - E slots right? Any recommendations on a good replacement? He didn't need to make amazing graphics of games or something like that, but it would be nice if it could handle Aero in Windows 7 and Windows 8 multi-tasking and don't want to spend ridiculous money - up to £50 or £60 I guess. Also should I upgrade the PSU?

Processor

It is the delicate issue. This PC has an Asteropi-GL8E motherboard with a Pentium 4 processor and looking at specifications supported on the HP site, it seems that it is only expandable to Intel Pentium D820 or D900, which are abandoned. Can anyone tell if I can use a more modern processor, ideally bicoeur with a bit more ooomph and if so what models?

Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated, especially around the issue of the processor.

Hello:

Only, you would be able to upgrade to one of the Pentium D 9xx processors. You can find a decent supply of sell them (used, but tested and functional) in ebay.

So you can go for the max - 945. I would like to get the one with sSpec SL9QQ.

Video: I need to know what the power supply, but for me a sure bet would be an opportunity but tested and functional ATI Radeon HD 2400 PCi Express video card.

The Dell card will work in your RESUME.  You will need a cable of the monitor or DVI adapter DVI / VGA, because it has only a DVI offline. It has a S-video out to TV connection, but most of the monitors is not a S-Video input

This card has two DVI and VGA ports.

http://www.eBay.co.UK/ITM/ASUS-RV610LE-Radeon-HD2400-256MB-graphics-card-/120877293866?PT=UK_Computing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_Cards_TW&hash=item1c24d9212a

I prefer fanless cards because they are silent and without fan out.

But it is up to you.

This path allows you to save a lot of money, and you get a pretty powerful PC.

    Thank you for the additional information and the link with your computer's specifications, @NeelCool.

    Before making any recommendations, I want you to know that your computer is not simply cabable of being a machine good game.  The most important thing against the fact that the maximum memory is only 2 GB, DDR.  It is simply not enough to work with recent intensive video games.  In addition, the only expansion slots are PCI and AGP.  They are very slow.  I'd rather see you save money and buy a newer computer when you can afford it.

  • Compaq Presario SR5506F: update BIOS of BACK command line?

    Hello

    I would like to be able to Flash the BIOS to the boot prompt, or with a USB/CD/DVD based tool. I can't open any OS even from live DVD.

    My Presario SR5507F came originally with Vista installed, but over the years, it has been upgraded to Windows 8.1. He gave us many years of reliable service, but sometimes the last fall the PC began to experience some powerdowns and seemingly random reboots.

    Things get pregressively worse until the PC was unusable. He would go for 15 or 20 minutes and then restart. The trouble began shortly after a Windows Update, so I thought it was a problem of update patch or driver. I tried return that a withdrawal patches nothing helps. I also tried to install Ubuntu and Fedora, but they have the same problems. Fedora is worse than Ubuntu, however. I tried to reinstall Windows 8.1, then 7, and finally the original Vista operating system 32-bit, but all the Windows installations fail at some point during the installation drivers. The computer passes just a restart endless cycle and cannot install Windows.

    I performed memory tests, but they all go and I use a text based operating system, such as BACK.

    I tried to reflash the BIOS, thinking he was damaged in one of the restarts, but since I can't install any version of Windows, the BIOS flash tools refuse to work. I need to be able to Flash the BIOS from the prompt at startup or DOS command. Is there such a tool from Compaq/HP?

    Hello:

    The problem you are having is that Windows has installed a generic graphics driver, so you can see the screen and not much more.

    There is no w8.1 or W10 graphics driver for the graphics card to your PC.

    Your model is a desktop Compaq Presario Media Center SR2029UK PC?

    If so, see if you can manually install the latest Nvidia graphic driver and run the W10.

    First of all, download and install this free utility for files.  The 2nd listed file is 64-bit.

    http://www.7-zip.org/

    Then download, save, but do not run this graphics driver.

    http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/82758/en-us

    After downloading the above graphic driver file, right-click on it and select 7 - Zip from the list of options.

    Have 7-Zip extract of: and leave it to decompress the file in its folder.

    Go to Device Manager, and then click to expand the category of device of graphics cards.

    Click on the graphics card of Microsoft Basic.

    Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.  Select her browse my computer for driver software option and find the driver 7-zip created folder.

    Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and see if the graphics driver installed.

    Restart the PC.

  • Compaq Presario SR1214NX desktop PC: update BIOS for SATA HDD?

    Hi CV Experts.

    In 2004, I bought a HP Compaq Presario SR1214NX desktop PC. Now, leave the original hard drive and I bought a new Seagate 500 GB SATA hard drive. I thought that this would work because the PC MoBo has two SATA connectors. After installation, I noticed the drive is not detected. I checked the BIOS but not hard listed. The installed BIOS is "BIOS Award BIOS Core Version 6.0 revision 3.10 26/07/2004.» What can I do? Is there a BIOS update available?

    Help, please!

    Do more research on this issue, I think that this motherboard may not have native support SATA. You can use ports SATA via Windows after you have installed the necessary drivers. I suggest that you add a primary as hard drive IDE PATA drive and load Windows. Post windows installation, install the necessary SATA drivers and plug the secondary drive SATA for use as a hard disk.

    I'm sorry for all of the early confused communications.

  • Compaq Presario: Card mother SR5050NX update using SP37378.exe

    Help, I need an exe file to return the BIOS on my Compaq Presario, model SR5050NX, product number RX897AA-ABA, build software 72NAv3PrA2 to the specification of the manufacturer. The BIOs vendor is Phoeniz, release date: 20/04/2007, version of BIOs 5.17 string.

    I was updating the CPU so that I can install Windows 7 and I went to the website of Hp on the model SR5050NX and SP37378.exe.Seems downloaded and installed to give me version 5.23, however, when I rebooted the computer, I had the 'launch Startup Repair' which automatically said that he could not fix the CPU. I then use F11, Recovery Manager, who said "Detected Root Cause, current installation failure" great answer? Then, I used my Hardware Diagnostic Tools diagnostics bootable CD for Vista backup and reinstall all the software without result.

    Seems that SP37378.exe screwed up my computer, especially when the computer has worked fine before using the exe file.

    Logically, you would have downloaded the sp37378.exe on a CD and then run it from there. That would be the best avenue.   In addition, WIN7 is not supported with drivers HP on the SR5050nx.  This decision was made four years after the origin of the product Vista OS in 2007.

    Hello

    You can manually update the BIOS for your laptop by downloading from the link below:

    The current version available is F.23

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp51501-52000/sp51527.exe

    Once the download is complete, double-click the downloaded file and follow the instructions on the screen.

    You will notice may-continuous display blank for a few seconds, which is quite normal. Once the update is actually the device automatically restarts.

    Note to back up your data before performing the update. Also have your adapter connected to the laptop.

    You can virtually none of the PENRYN 45nm lithography processors put in it, the optimal processor, you can upgrade is the Intel core 2 duo t9500. I have the same laptop and I have the next step down from what is the Intel core 2 duo processor t9300. There is no complete list of the processors that it will support the lists that you will find are incomplete at best even Intel does not update their information. Go to intel.com and search PENRYN in a search more people you can use, you need to compare to ensure that.

    If you have hard to turn it off, and it stops working:

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:
    As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.
    As your grave in the category above, download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
  • Difficult to update and download of Windows Vista on Compaq Presario F500 laptop...
    Hello everyone, I have a model old laptop (compaq presario F500 GF593UA #ABA) and I have complications download something on the net. Whenever I try to download something he always says that he stop working or the file has not been signed. Also, I can't update or the other - it downloads updates whenever it crashes while trying to install. Sometimes, it crashes as soon as the update reminder appears in the system tray. I tried almost everything imaginable, but I can't seem to stop crashing during updates are enabled. I can't download anything either, but I can run files that I downloaded from my other computer. I even disabled the pilots I thought that maybe something to do with it and still the same events occur. I disabled autuning, ran several diagnostics - one who says something about TC or something of this nature should be activated so I clicked on that and he says that the problem had been resolved.
