Compatibility of Photoshop CS3 and Windows 7-64 bit?

I am a newbe to this forum (just joined today) and I have very much to learn about it.    I am currently using Photoshop CS3 with a Windows XP (32-bit) system.  I want to buy a new computer with Windows 7 (64 bit) operating system.  My CS3 will run on this computer?   Will it be beter upgrade to Photoshop CS4?   What is the cost to upgrade from CS3 to CS4, I did not see that he posted on the Adobe Web site.  I would appreciate any information that will be helpful in my transition from Windows XP (32 bit) to Windows 7 (64 bit) systems.

Thanks, Norm Perry

Works fine on my 7 64 Norm.

  • This tool works in Photoshop CS3 and Windows 7?

I found this script in an old thread and he tries. He would work in CS3?

If I'm sure that I'm the problem I thought that I would check before I keep coming with the same mistakes. More specifically, when I type 'Export Path to Illustrator', I get a pop up box that says "the export command is not available" and a choice to continue or stop. It allows me to save in eps format, but it seems not that it is in fact a vector.

I use this image found in examples of windows photos 'Annie in the Sink.jpg.

as an example, because it is small. If you use this action on images from camera size,

your system can really slow down.

(click on the screenshots below for a clearer view)

    1. launch the Web part of vectorize graphic of the action. (I just left the Gaussian blur

    the default setting)

    2. use a combination to adjust the adjustment threshold and paint layer

on the layer to Dodge and burn to get black areas to cover the part of the image

you want. The black areas are the areas that will be included in the paths and

the white areas are excludible from paths.

    3. paint on the layer Dodge and burn regular brush, not the dodge tool

and dubbing tools. White paint removes areas to include in the paths

and paint with black adds the areas included in the paths. Set the default value

color of foreground and background (black and white) at the bottom of the Toolbox of

by pressing the D key on the keyboard.

    4. you have to stack the layers to Dodge and burn to get the results your after.

    5. start the path have been part of the Image of the action.

Final path and still a bit rough photoshop result and after copying the

path to a new document to RGB color and adding a color fill adjustment layer.

If you have a recent version of illustrator, you can try the function of trace instead of this action.

In the latest versions of illustrator tracing features so much better when this action was written.

Added: it allows to duplicate your image before performing any action then you

have a reference by painting on the dodge and burn layer.

  • I have problems with Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Windows 7 32-bit Professiol.

When I open an image of the bridge, the photoshop Panel is locked on one side of the screen.  The onle way I can get out of it is CTRL, alt, delete.  The problem persists.  I tried to uninstall Adobe and reinstall with no luck.  I called Adobe and they think that there is a problem with the security system in Windows.  Help, please.

    Hey jrcjr,

This could be attributed to several factors such as conflicts between device drivers, applications, settings of operating system, hardware, and corrupt elements in specific files.

    Basic troubleshooting

    1. make sure that the computer meets the minimum requirements for Photoshop.
    2. install all Windows updates. .
3 re-create the Photoshop preferences file.

Re-create the Photoshop preferences file to eliminate problems that may cause a damaged Preferences file.

To re-create the Photoshop preferences files:

    1. quit Photoshop.
    2. rename the \AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp directory Users\ [username] Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.old.
3 launch Photoshop. Photoshop creates a new Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file.
If the problem persists, the Photoshop preferences files aren't the cause. To restore custom settings, quit Photoshop, and then delete the new Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file and restore the original name of the previous Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file.

Definitely. You need the version 5.7, which is only for CS4.

You need a DNG Converter, but since you're running XP, it will be the 8.3 DNG Converter

  • Canon 5 d Mark II, the Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom 2.4

    All,

I know it must have been answered elsewhere, but I have not found what I'm looking for.

I bought a new Canon 5 d Mark II camera that will happen Wednesday.  To the extent the software on my Mac Pro, I have Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium, which includes (obviously) of Photoshop CS3.  I am also running Lightroom 2.4.  I heard to open the 5 d Mark II RAW files, you must have Adobe Camera Raw 5.X, which is not supported by Photoshop CS3.  I also understand that Lightroom 2.4 CAN open the 5 d Mark II RAW files.  First of all, both of my statements are at this point?  If so, I can use Lightroom to open the RAW files, making some setting I would like in Lightroom, then export the modified file (in TIFF, for example) in Photoshop CS3 and go on my way?  Or it won't work?

If the answer is no, what are my options for the software I have with my Canon 5 d Mark II?  Am I, now, TO upgrade to Photoshop CS4?  If so, can I buy CS4 Design Premium update, if my CS3 Design Premium is the version of education?

Thanks for any help on this... I hope to avoid spending more money that I need software just to be able to process images of my new camera.  I'm sure I could always use the supplied Canon software to open the RAW files, but I prefer to do programs in the Adobe family.

Lightroom 2.4 will deal with the EOS 5 d Mark II RAW files.  And Yes, after doing all your editing your RAW files in LR, you can export it to TiFF, PSD or JPEG format and open and work on it in Photoshop CS3.

    I hope this helps.

I have win 98se, win xp sp3 and Windows vista 64-bit PCs, and I want to share files & printer... printer is connect in xp or 98se, well, what is possible... currently, I've got these between vista and xp, which is available when win 98se involved?

Two ways are participatory computers in a windows environment, a working group and a _.   You can fill in the blank?

Virtual private networks have little to do with the domains or working groups.

I don't think that WIndows 98 can join to a domain.  All versions of WIndows, you mention should be able to participate in a working group, however.

In my opinion, the best way to share a printer is to use a printer connected to the network
