  • Vista - Shutdown - problem event name: the BlueScreen OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3 locale ID: 1033

I almost didn't post this because there are so many entries with this error. But after about 20 minutes of research, I couldn't find one that was exactly what happened to my computer.

I use a laptop Dell Inspiron 1501 with Vista Home Premium. The computer is a few years old. I've never had a blue screen before. I always run the MS. updates I run a scan for viruses from McAfee weekly. I try my best to clean up my computer and stay away from suspicious websites.

Last night, I was using WiFi cafes of a grocery store. I closed my computer and I got a blue screen with lines vertical white sparkles. Instead of the end of the shutdown sequence, the computer restarted. I could stop from the log in window successfully.

When I started the computer later in the evening, I received a message window:

"Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown. Windows can seek a solution the next time you're online. »

The rest of the message is at the bottom of this post.

I was able to open the file of text below. That is what it says:
    -------------------------------------------
    Windows NT Version 6.0 Build: 6002 SP2
Product (0x3): Vista (TM) Home Premium Windows
    Edition: HomePremium
    BuildString: 6002.18267.x86fre.vistasp2_gdr.100608 - 0458
    Flavor: Multiprocessor Free
    Architecture: X 86
    LCID: 1033
    -------------------------------------------

I worked on my computer for awhile. I don't have Internet access at home.
An hour later, I got the same blue screen when I stopped my laptop.
The same sequence of events took place: instead of the end of the shutdown sequence, the computer is restarted. I could stop from the log in window successfully.

I immediately started the computer again. I received the same message window.
I made a few changes in a Word file just to keep the computer running some time before stopping again. I don't have the blue screen this time. I repeated start-up and shut down the computer several times after that and didn't get the blue screen or message.

I don't have the message when I started my computer this morning. I use WiFi to a library this morning.

I should also add that last night when I booted my computer and connected to the WiFi at the coffee shop, I received a message that FireFox has an update. I installed this update successfully. I thought I read somewhere online that the most recent version was giving problems to Windows users. I can't find this article. But I just thought I would add to this detail. I uninstalled FireFox just to be safe.

I would also add that the strange behavior, only that I noticed when I used the WiFi is that I could not access the MSN.com or HotMail/Live Mail log in pages. The pages would simply not load. All other website worked/load very well.

So, can someone give me details on what happened to my computer? It's going to be OK? Do I need to run a virus scan? From what I've read in other posts "blue screen", it might be a hardware problem. But, I don't really have a good answer that satisfies me. My computer seems to be OK for now.

Please let me know if you need more information.

    Sincerely,

    Marz

I put it to "Small Memory Dump" as the blog said.

My computer works normally since these two incidents. But it would be good to know what happened.

I don't know if I'll be coffee anytime soon. I don't know if it was something with the WiFi or Web sites. I thought it was strange that wouldn t Microsoft sites. I ran McAfee scan later and he did not find a virus.

Now, I'm using Google Chrome. I like it a lot. It seems a little faster than IE or FF.

    No virus is embedded.

    What I was doing?
I was streaming a lot of Netflix for the last two weeks...

I like to think that I run a pretty tight ship with this machine as in its 'own' (except recovery being off)...

Device Manager shows everything is working normally. It would show if the equipment was broken?

A month ago I noticed a bulge just above F7 to F11. The highest part being F9. It is just the plastic,
but, obviously something had warm, yet, the machine worked very. When I discovered that it was the other

    Hi T9mothy,

    Method 1
Device Manager would show if the driver for the hardware is corrupted or damaged which can be resolved by updating or reinstalling the driver. Try the steps from the following link to resolve the problem of the internet.

Windows wireless and wired network connection problems
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/help/wired-and-wireless-network-connection-problems-in-Windows

    Method 2
SFC scanner. SFC will correct if you have corrupted system files.

    Hello

Move everything you don't want to lose out on the external hard drive.

If you use the disks created when first set you up the PC, then all of the programs that you installed after that point in time will be deleted.

Using a power adapter to power your laptop is necessary while you do this.

Once you enter the Recovery Manager choose Factory Image recovery and follow the prompts and wait. Once the recovery began not to interrupt or attempt to stop him.

    Hello

This means that there are errors in the recovery partition. Did you create a set of recovery or a recovery USB USB key drives?

If you don't then it can be used to reinstall the software and drivers.

The day you decide to perform a factory restore everything must be returned to the State of operation, including the Recovery Manager.

I was not installing anything at the time of these "problems". In fact has occurred after that I fell asleep. I ran Disk Defrag last night around 01:00 and went to sleep, then this incident occurred at 02:33. My past computer activities consist of the installation of two cards DIMM 2.0 GB new, (two cards of 1.0 GB DIMM upgrade). After installation, I made diagnostics, ran test extended memory and everything going on. I have also received 8 updates from Windows Update aprox. two hours before I started having this "problem of the event. 7 of the 8 installed updates. I think that one of the updates has caused to happen. I entered "Services" from the start menu... it say windows setup is set to automatic and not running. Should I start the service and maintain, even if im not to install anything? Please help and if possible, please explain why this "problem event" occurs when Im not install or download anything either. Finally, I ran scans of complete system by Norton and Windows Defender, nothing 'undesirables' in the computer and Disk Defrag is done.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I really appreciate it!
I don't know why JohnD - Support Engineer, MSFT, moved my "question" in the Windows Update Forum, when I put here. As I said in my original question, I have nothing installed not at this 'problem '. In fact, all of my updates appear to install correctly, (other than SP2, I've had to reinstall a clean version of Vista to do). I was sleeping at the time of the last problem report, so I know that I was not install because I was not awake, and no updates are displayed at the time of the problem.
In any case, Microsoft helped me and I believe it's now corrected... at least temporarily. In the past, I got errors about "CBS". For this reason, microsoft has me do the following:

    Open command prompt
    run as administrator of
type fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\

you will receive a message that he managed. This seems to have worked far... No. so many errors or the reports about this problem... Thank you once again for trying.

    Thank you very much

If the computer is already infected, no anti-virus/anti-spyware application installed or working properly.

You have a lot more work to do.

NB: If you had no installed anti-virus application or subscription has expired * when the machine was first infected * and/or your subscription has expired since and/or the machine is not kept fully corrected in Windows Update, don't waste your time with any of the following: Format & reinstall Windows.  A repair install won't help!

    Otherwise...

    1. see if you can download/run the MSRT tool manually: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NB: Run the FULL scan, not analysis FAST!  You may need to download the MSRT on an uninfected machine and then transfer the MRT. EXE to the infected machine and rename it to SCAN. EXE before running it.

Original title: problem starting with Windows Vista SP2

    Hello

I have problems with my Vista PC. It all started when I was playing a game and he hung all of a sudden. The keyboard responds No and no more than the mouse. I also noticed that there is no hard disk activity and decided to turn the PC through the AC power. The next day, I was surprised that the BIOS and Vista boot screens has red and green vertical stripes on them respectively. And after that start logo does not come out and there is also no disk activity. I tried to attempt using the Memory Diagnostic tool Windows and the Startup Repair to fix the problem, but don't have seen no improvement. However, at certain times (rare) Vista will start normally. Even if I managed to connect, if the computer is left idle the monitor turns white and move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard does not help. Please solve my problem!

    Specifications of the PC:

    Dell XPS 420 (desktop PC)

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.40 GHz)

    3 GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 512 MB (version 270.61)

Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium build 6002 SP2 x 32 with the latest updates

    Windows Experience Index: 5.5

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes to your computer before the problem?

Looks like Java is corrupted. I would suggest you uninstall and reinstall Java and check if the problem persists. Follow the steps in this article.

How to uninstall Java on my Windows computer?

  • Update Windows for Vista - NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS driver errors

Update Vista Home Basic 6002:SP2.  Secunia Personal Software Inspector and MS Security Essentials confirm the system software is updated.

Windows Update optional update for NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS on 4/5 and 4/11.  Updates have been declared as 'Successful' but has caused problems of compatibility with the resolution.  (http://winqual.microsoft.com/support/?driverid=20418057) More details below.

HW - Dell 530 with GeForce 8400 GS with BIOS 62.98.71.0.5 - 512 MB of memory dedicated - 767 MB shared memory.

CRT is detected as driver MS running generic PnP 6.0.6001.18000.  The display is an AMW CM1722PF 17 "CRT with a preferred resolution of the 1024x768x70Hz.  (IIRC, MS drivers for Intel 8031 correctly detected VGA display modes, rather than generic report.)

On both NVIDIA driver update attempts, Windows Update reports the success and I rebooted (despite the lack of obligation to restart).  Display was OK on the screen connection, but limited to 640 x 480 on desktop after login.  Edges of the Office had fallen.

In addition, Panel-> NVIDIA Control Panel translates "the NVIDIA Display Panel Extension cannot be created... Possible reasons include the incorrect version.  Reinstall display drivers can fix this problem. »

After the failure of 4/5, I uninstalled Windows Update display drivers and reinstalled on reboot.  Got the NVIDIA Display Panel and appropriate video modes.  Everything was going well until we repeated this Windows Update NVIDIA driver update fiasco 4/11.

Have not repeated the manual Reinstall driver this time, I'm puzzled why Windows Update can't get this right.    This is a very common piece of hardware and you would think that there is regression tests for driver updates.

This makes me wary of Windows Update.  Suggestions?

    Hello

I posted an incorrect link, changed now.

    http://www.AddictiveTips.com/Windows-tips/disable-Windows-Update-device-driver-search-prompt/

The TechNet post link also has the same information.

Or here - manually on a single computer

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc730606 (WS.10) .aspx

Those who work in many cases, I've tried. If you have a current Windows
Update that tries to update a driver, then right-click on it in Windows
Updates and HIDE. There should be no other available.

    I hope this helps.
