Computer is slow to start up - could be a confrontation with norton antivirus because it does not load upward
I have windows vista 64 bit, which worked well until the last windows update and now wait for 7 to 10 minutes before the commissioning is complete. I have received information from a previous question and followed the instructions to check the programs that can slow down the process. It doesn't matter what programs I have disable the startup process is still slow. I noticed that Norton anitvirus does not run on start up and shuts off when I check on the Security Center. Is this the cause of the problem - there was a conflict with the last update?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello
Of course it looks like software malware may be involved. The following message will be troubleshooting
methods to use if the problem persists.
If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be more difficult to detect as the
cause.
No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.
It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run
the regular windows when you can.
TDSSKiller.exe. - Download the desktop - so go ahead and right-click on it - RUN AS ADMIN

How can I know if the programs listed in Add/Remove programs are essential or not? Some seem obvious, but there are others who are not. I tried to cross and remove what I use not but theres so much I don't know what they are doing and if I really need things telling not used since 2005 or what are sometimes programs that I use.
I also clicked on a button in the list, instead of asking me if I wanted to remove or change as usual, he took something and I don't know what it was. Can I know what I deleted?
Thank you.clairecat,
You can search through the event viewer to see the items you deleted. Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.
Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.
This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
each installation.Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
necessary.Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
manually by model.Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

Vista OS does not load. I tried booting and the load screen bar continues to work without success. When you run the start he stops to c:\windows\system 32\cmd.exe that I don't want to lose my files so I have not reinstalled. Any suggestions?
Restore point:
Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.
Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
Data recovery, if/before you reinstall:
1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.
2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.
3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:
http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html
Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
Download the Vista software from the link above.
After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.
Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

Satellite L300 - portable computer does not load
Hello
I just wanted to know roughly how much it should cost, or what can I do to fix my laptop. It does not load and I bought a new charger to see if it works but it started to load for a few days and then stopped working again.
All responses will be apperciated, thank you.
Hi DeeDee_1,
If you have already bought a new charger and it doesn t work there seems to be a motherboard problem, but another part could be affected too
Here he s just a user to user forum and nobody can tell you how much it would cost because a professional diagnosis is necessary. After that an authorized service provider can make you an offer on all repair costs.
Then contact the guy and ask for help. They can give you a good answer ;)
