computer makes a noise like a spinning cd when no cd is inserted

My computer makes noise like a spinning cd, every minute or two, when no cd is inserted.  When he does that the computer is running very slowly.

Hello

1. have you made changes on the computer recently?
2. do you have any security software installed on the computer?
3. When you hear noise, CD/DVD light flashes on tour that is CPU?

If there is no disk in the CD/DVD drive and this problem occurs, this means that some programs/programs is / are using lots of system resources. There is a possibility of virus running on the computer and also due to errors on the hard drive.

It is recommended that you first scan the computer for viruses and check if the problem persists. To scan a complete service, visit the following link: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

If the problem persists, run the check disk on the hard disk. To do this, follow these steps.
1. Click Start, type cmd, right-click on cmd, and then click Run as administrator.
2. type chkdsk /f /r and press ENTER.

For more information about the disk check, see this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

If the problem persists, then follow all the steps mentioned in this article to discover the culprit who raises this question: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

NOTE: Be sure to follow step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual.

  • Computer makes strange noises? 3

    Hello, I have a HP Pavilion, model s3842uk. n___n;

My computer because of the weird noises when I start it, it's like a semi - quiet, but still discernible "squeaking"? I did some research into this because that my mind was going into overdrive thinking that my pc is dying (that's my baby in terms of playing games like WoW, L4D2, Sims 3, Fallout New Vegas, etc. with brio) so I'd really like to know if anyone can help me.

Some have suggested that it is the CPU fan or another fan, and maybe it's because I'm not sure how to open my case. I really want to play with my system in case I damage anything (I'm a super awkward age 16 years). xD

So, it is more than likely due to an accumulation of dust right? I think I had this PC for over a year so the poor thing probably got a lot of dust in there, but I'm still a bit "eh" of everything.

So, if anyone of you, it professionals are ready to help me, I would appreciate it.

If I do not need to open the case so I will need to ask a friend of the family who is a technician, he can do it for me because I'm desperate. xD

Hello LishaFTW, sorry to hear your system does not work as it should.

Some HP and Dell systems, do a 'noise' stronger during the first start for a few seconds. This noise is from fans until the mother could take control of the fan speed. It is a normal phenomenon, but only if it just last for several seconds.

A bad business, and/or components can cause a State of overheating, even on newer systems, especially if they have been used when on the ground instead of a desktop computer.

Here a link to the HP site that shows how to do to remove the control panel of the case. You can then clean the inside of the casing and components, paying special attention to the area of heatsink / CPU fan.

Make sure you do not move or damage the components.

You can use compressed canned air to blow the dust/dust of the system and the heatsink / CPU fan. Do not allow the processor or another fan to turn when you use compressed air, as this may cause damage to the fan.

I suggest take the system from the outside of the building to clean dust/dirt, since when the compressed air is applied, there is a bit of it in the room.

When completely cleaned, just reinstall Control Panel case and start the system and see if the problem has been resolved.

If not, you may leave the case Panel and start the system and try and determine source noise, making sure not to touch anything inside the case. I'd look for any fan noise that seems to be another noise that all movement of the air, like a bearing bad grinding, or rubbing sound.

    I hope this helps.

  • Help! My computer makes a noise loud!

My computer is a thud.  It accelerates and sounds as if she's going to fly.  It stops after a while, then starts again.  I don't know much about computers and have no idea where to look to fix this problem.  My computer is a Compaq lapstop.  I have windows 7.

The most likely cause is the heatsink that is partially blocked. You can try

    1. compressed air from the vent on the side
    2. remove the covers on the underside in the area directly where the fan is
    3. take it to a reputable technician or if authorized service center 1 and 2 will get you nowhere...
  • My PSC1610xi makes a sound like a machine gun when preparing print

Quite suddenly, my 1610xi, almost 6 years, started to make a loud noise of preparing print each new document.  It sounds like a gear or toothed belt is slippery, too fast to count but probably 10-12 clicks and accompanied by vibrations of the ink cartridges: it seems to be related to the movement of the print head.  It will not occur between the different pages of the same document.  Once the noise ended, printing prceeds normally.  I also experienced errors intermittent cartridge, 'resolved' indented and the replacement of the cartridge or removing food.

It sounds like a gear may have almost reached the end of its useful life. Which may affect the normal operation of the printer, which could encourage some of resetting of the power that you encounter. May not be far away time replacing the unit.

My computer makes a clicking noise at random - in the diagnosis of the Apple what is the meaning of error 4HDD/30 / 40000005:SATA (0,0) Please?

    Several clues:

    1. HARD and SATA drive in the message... On the way SATA HARD drive
    2. Clicking noise, which is an early signal of imminent death for HARD drive (there are only two types of readers... those who died and those who will be)

I would like to start keep good clones (CarbonCopyClone, bombich.com, $40) for external drives or backups Time Machine.  Any backup of the drive, not just your favorite parts.  Perform backups on a schedule without fail IMHO.

You can also start to consider a SSD at macsales.com (their mercury collection is highly recommended) or a new HARD disk, at least start planning if the SSD cost is worth the benefit of speed on the HARD drive.  You can buy it later.

Just my paranoid approach to this situation.

In addition, the windows updates did not work, they always came as "update failed" it happened all of a sudden. Please, what could be the cause this problem and what are some solutions?

    Hello

Follow these methods and check if that helps:

    Method 1:

I suggest you to set up your computer in a clean boot state, and check to see if the same problem happens.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • Satellite L855 makes a noise and hangs expecially in games

    Hello.

I just bought a SATELLITE L855 - 10 p (http://pt.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/supportMyProduct.do?service=PT), with last Wednesday ATI graphics card, but my computer came with one problem (which I will try to explain, because already, I went to the store to pass for another and the cams newone with the same problem as the previous one, also the tecnic can't find the error). Now the problem:

When I'm in 'youtube' or 'windows media player' or expecially when I play LoL (League of Legends, online game) my computer freezes for a few seconds (one or two) and that it crashes, it makes a noise too.

If I'm with a helmet I listen to that noise in the headphones. I tried everything like reinstalling the video card and sound card drivers and it changed nothing, accidents and noise remain. I don't know what to do...-

Is there a solution? I can not even find what the problem... And tecnic store seems to not be able to solve either...

    I appreciate your help.

    Hello

Could it be that the system hangs during the second view and appears so this strange noise?
In most cases, the system hangs because the CPU is stressed and overloaded

Someone in this thread had some streaming video LAG
Maybe your problem could be solved also.

    Hi Yonasan AkivaBen Avraham

I suggest you try uninstalling and reinstalling the audio drivers. Follow the steps to check the audio drivers in Device Manager:

    a. click Startand then click Control Panel.

    b. click system and Maintenance, click Systemand then click on Device Manager.
Note If Control Panel is in Classic view, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

    c. in Device Manager, expand sound, video and game controllers. Now you can right click on the listed audio driver. Here, you will get all the option to update or install/uninstall the drivers. Click Uninstall.
Check that if at all, there is an exclamation point on the pilot, it suggests problems with the installed driver.

    d. restart the computer. This will allow the computer automatically detects drivers for devices on the computer restarts.

  • My computer makes a snoring sound.

My computer makes a snoring sound.  As a plane ready to take off.  What happens and why is it.  Wake up it is so strong.

This is probably caused by one of your fans. If we took some dirt over time, this can cause a loud hum when it is activated.
Try and figure out what the origin of the noise, if it is not the CPU fan, you can probably clean them yourself using a can of compressed air or a vacuum cleaner (careful with PC components!). If the CPU fan, it may be better to have an expert to clean or replace.

If you find that the noise comes from your diet, you would be best to replace it.
