  Hi Ben,

  Where before OS X 10.5 Server was a stand-alone that cost a lot of money, you can now buy server for about $20 and install it on any Mac. Also since the advent of the new generation of storage media, have a separate Mini configured as a server was blown out the window. The rationale being with the scalability and speed of lightning, it is easier this. Previously being storage bottlenecks and the storage interface being slow, requiring exquisite amounts of RAM and so the two that requires a lot more than processing power was turned on its head with a new and an old technology. As a first step, it is SSD/Flash storage, and the second is the compression of memory. Thus, the old principle of memory allocated nothing do disappeared. With compression having being resurrected, it allows less power-hungry CPUs and less memory, in conjunction with a Flash for the results equal or superior storage.

  In short, get a Mini SSD with as much RAM as possible and decent processing power and which cling the external storage.

• Problems with the Portege M700 command

  I would like to order the Portege M700-S7008 with 2.40 ghz, turbo cache + qwerty US keyboard, which is available on the site of toshiba, based in the United States.

  On my local site toshiba I can only find Portege M700-10O (which no a 2.20 ghz, turbo cache, BE-azerty keyboard), which is certainly not what I want. But the US site has no option to ship international.

  the fact is that the machine with the desired configuration is only available in America. Since Toshiba sells for all countries separate the configurations you have only 2 options:

  1. find a Distributor on google which could help you and sell / send you the machine with THIS configuration

  2. or you can wait some time with obtainig of this machine, maybe toshiba europe will give an offer that you need in a few weeks. Usually (AFAIK) Toshiba europe is not always parallel with their services and offers as other countries. This also applies to other countries such as the Australia, the Canada or Britain.
  I think that little patience and you will get what you want or need.

  The well-known group address is the IP address of the iSCSI Group.

  Thus, your group has an iSCSI IP address and then each port on the controller has an IP address (eth0, eth1, eth2, eth3 (depending on the model, you can have 1, 2 or 4 iSCSI ports (older models may also have 3 iSCSI ports)).)

  Always use IP iSCSI of the group in the connectivity section in ASM and not the IP address of one of the eth ports.

  If you have used this, disable all but 1 of your iSCSI network cards and try to ping the IP of the Group and all the IPs port. If you can not achieve one or more of them, you need to check your network because it would be a separate iSCSI configuration, which will not work with an Equallogic implementation.

  We need the 'packet capture' setting on all the signatures of attacks on a joint-2 V4.1.4 and a sensor 4210 V4.1.4. We use CiscoWorks VMS for the configuration of all sensors, but there seems to be no way to enable this setting for a selection of signatures at a time. This is apparently a different setting than the ip logging (for which we can select a large number of signatures to be configured at the same time). It seems to me that the only way to change this is to go into each separate signature configuration and change the value there. But it is almost not doable. Any other possibility?

  Now that IPS Version 5.0 was officially announced (to be released early next month), I can tell you about some of the new features that can help in this area.

  The new IDM (Intrusion detection device manager) which is that tool for basic configuration for the web of the sensor will allow you to select several signatures (now the control key while you select each signature), do a right click to bring up a window of action event and grant shares of event (such as the Packet Capture, which was renamed ProduceVersboseAlert in 5.0) for all signatures in a few mouse clicks.

  So you will not need to manually edit the XML of the probe to make the same change to a large number of signatures.

  NOTE: I work in the team of sensor and therefore did not expertise on product ID MC (VMS). I don't know if this same functionality offers the IDS MC in virtual machines. But ID MC should, at a minimum, be able to import changes made through IDM.

  Some other new features are what we call risk score and event Action overrides. With the risk rating will now have a level of risk calculated from 1 to 100. The risk rating is calculated according to the severity of the Signature, the loyalty of the Signature (how well it detects that the attack) and the target value (how the target address is important to you).

  Mainly the level of risk is a method to better sort the order of importance of the alarms, but can also be used with the new feature of event Action more than wrinkles.

  Each type of action (such as ProduceVerboseAlert) can be assigned a specific range of risk (for example 80-100) rating. Any alert that has risk rating will have this action also made previously specific action by signature. (If no alert with a risk rating of 80-100 would have ProduceVerboseAlert added to this alert action, if she had not already been configured on the individual signature).

  First of all, I'm a guy from Layer 7 and have only basic knowledge on networks. With this knowledge, I have problems to set up a RV320 (v1.1.1.19 (2014-12-01)) with a static IP subnet of my ISP. I have a 29 subnet with a FritzBox cable as a modem cable simple (no firewall works etc. on the FritzBox). I have an IP address configured for the interface WAN1 (90.xxx.xxx.206). The second is configured as DMZ. Now, I would like to pass the remaining public IP addresses with different ports to dedicated DMZ servers.

  To be more clear:

  Modem cable (90.xxx.xxx.201)

  WAN1 90.xxx.xxx.206 (subnet 90.xxx.xxx.200/29) GW: 90.xxx.xxx.201

  WAN2 / DMZ: 10.0.0.0/24 (different 8-port Switch)

  LAN1: 192.168.1.0/24 (different 24-port Switch)

  There is no connection / (other than the RV320) Road between LAN and DMZ (separate interfaces configured on the VMware host computers)

  I don't know if I have to configure the RV320 as gateway or router. The current settings are the entrance door. I have attached a small diagram to make things clearer (hopefully).

  It is called load balancing, but it is really load split. The ELCB hashes the source and destination IP address and send this packet to one of the available paths (in your link, there are only two, but it could be more). This can cause the load balancing less even, but it is usually close enough.

  In your link, the IPS has fill the two local area networks VIRTUAL, so traffic due to flow through the IPS for the hosts to the gateway. To answer your question, both the switch AND SPI must have these VLANS configured. The IPS will be configured as a pair of VLAN. The switch will have two separate VLANS configured.

• ACS5: method of different external authentication for each user account

  ACS4 I could specify a different external authentication for each user account. I'm trying to find a way to do the same thing to the ACS 5? When I go under identity in Access Services, I see the system requirement: username I can use to identify the user who logs in, so that I can directly to a source of different identity, but the separate political configuration for each user is very inconvinient and would require hundreds of policies, in our case.

  I was hoping that we can create a kind of attribute for each user. SysAdmin > Configuration > dictionaries > identity > internal users. I created the new attribute called 'Storage of identity' with the enumeration type, which has 4 values: internal, Entrust Token, Token RSA, counts AD and checked the box "add a political Condition." I can then go under each user and select the storage of identity for each user. But now I can't find where I can use under part of identity of an access policy. I can use it under "Group mapping" but that maps to one group and not to an identity store. I need to use it under the identity somehow, but I can't find how.

  Hello Roman,

  The attribute you created will be available when the user is authenticated through internel ID store, so that you cannot use to select the store ID.

  The best way to do this would be to use other attributes to differentiate the identity store.
  Allows you to create a sequence of identity store so that for each user, ACS will try to authenticate by using multiple identity store.

  For example, you can use these:

  Network status

  > End Station filter

  > Device filter

  > Devide filter Ports

  Here you can import filters from a file and it would therefore be more scalable.

• Control Panel on the missing Laserjet CM3530 MFP as workflow, Email and other features

  Need help with my HP Laserjet CM3530 MFP.

  The control panel is missing icons for E-mail, workflow and more.  I can go into the configuration of the printer and to the title of the homepage configuration screen, select this option to display all the (copy, Fax, Email, Workflow, file network, storage of work, jobs preserved, alternate Job Status email, Status and Administration supplies).  The only icons that will show are copy, Fax, the status of the work, jobs, status and Administration supplies storage.

  In Authentication Manager, all the options are set to NONE.

  I tried to turn them on and off and restart the printer after each change, but so far nothing I tried worked.

  How can I get the control panel to display all the icons?  Y at - it a reset without actually reset the printer?  And reset the printer to the factory actually work?

  I'll post the fix here for people who are looking, as I touched on what I had to do to get it fixed

  Play on the webgui printers interface and try to configure the scan to e-mail, the wizard did not work.

  1. updated the firmware (still no e-mail option)

  2A ran the Config Wizard and scanning configured for Email (without option of email)

  3. restarted (Email option is now here)

  It is at that moment that if the option did not show upward, I would do a factory config reset and see if she would come back.  Fortunately, I didn't have too.  However, Workflow, network, storage of the work and secondary E-mail folder still do not appear, but are not necessary, so I don't worry about them right now.

  Also: when the dynamic link was introduced, I managed to get an overview of the projects agency rather complex in real time. Now, even though my dynamically linked AE project has a JPG image, I can't preview anything without first (at best, I get very jerky playback). I have not changed a thing on my system apart to have downloaded the updates of Adobe.

  The reason why I am writing here rather than to contact Adobe support, is that my experience with them is of 30 minutes on the phone, having to present the problem and myself three people each time from the beginning and get "it's a bug" as a response. After sending the e-mail, solutions include uninstall plug-ins and third-party 3rd and tests (Needless to say, exchange of hardware and all software to a new ecosystem is altogether easier than that.)

  Let me answer myself (re: problem 2 - applies to other resolutions as well)

  The problem is with the workspaces created by the user (which is a bug in the body that has to do with workspaces created by the user). Using one integrated workspaces (and even that twist to its taste) make the problem disappears.

  Adobe support suggested the fault with a Thunderbolt defective cable, even though I pointed out the problem is identical in the two separate system configurations with three different cables. Personally, I preferred the "it's a bug" - answer.

• Design of left/HP4330 question

  We just bought a san Lefthand/HP4330, composed of 6 knots, 3 knots, each placed in 2 separate buildings, configured in a cluster of stretched metro, so raid network will distribute data
  on both sites, to all the nodes.  Useful ability is to 18.  We plan to create two LUNS to meet the requirement of heartbeat of storage; a small lun for the ISO and the 2nd
  pulsation of storage of about 300 GB in size and other balance of space, approximately 17 + TB, as a large number of logical unit for all the virtual machines.

  The hosts are the esxi/vsphere 5.1

  Did anyone see drawbacks to this plan?

  With a 6 cluster Lefthand node, I would consider to create multiple LUNS for a better distribution of the workload. Each LUN will have a management controller, and with only a single production LUN concentrate traffic on a node and therefore lose benefits left design. In this cluster of Mutli-Site you are considering, you will be usually 4 Directors (two from each site) and a Failover Manager (FOM), then I would say at least 4 Mon.

• How to specify a form to fill out the field round the text and aligned to bottom

  I have a few form fields that may have contained long, but have an introductory text. I would like that the entered content to wrap around this text, as shown in the image below:

  

  The content is updated automatically, not entered by someone, so what allows Rich Text and defining the formatting in the input block are not an option. I see two possibilities for this:

  1. A unique field that has a hanging indent on the first line that's enough to avoid the introductory text;
  2. Two separate fields configured so that the text overflows from one to the other.

  I was not able to understand how to do either of those. In this case, I see the additional ability to adjust the left edge of a multiline field for being to the right of the introductory text, but I have other scenarios where this text is well more than half of the line, in this case the solution is not feasible.

  I also need to have the text in a multi-line field position on the bottom line and that more text is added, the current text moves upward and the overflow fills below, remain bottom line:

  As you found, there is no possible negative indent and substantive alignment is available with fields that allow rich text formatting. A new conception of form layout that works with the limits of the text fields is how I would approach it, but I know that's not always possible.

• 2 TB LUN and Clarification of the scope

  I have a need to assign several VM in my environment of clients with 2 TB vmdk files, but I also want to be able to take snapshots of these servers.

  Because of this I would expect the community could clarrify a few points for me by correcting one of my points/assumptions;

  (1) VMFS data warehouses can be a maximum of 64 to in size.

  (2) VMDK can include up to 2 TB in size.

  (3) develop a VMFS datastore and LUN requires that he space / free vacuum at the end of the disc.

  (4) creation of a store of data VMFS higher then 2 TB requires the creation and presentation for ESX (i) multiple LUNS and then link them together using extensions.

  (5) to extend a LUN/VMFS beyond 2048 GB is bad news and can cause data corruption.

  So in my situation it seems to me that I need to create a 2 TB LUN and a second unit logic to say 300 GB number, then link them together using a measure to create a store of VMFS data that spans the two LUNS and has a total of 2.3 TB of space. So I can create my 2 TB VMDK and still be able to take pictures.

  Is there one way other or better to get my result?

  Are there concerns with the help of extensions, it's what trade off?

  Any other comments would be welcome.

  Nothing special. When you create her select VM first data store. Then, when you create the virtual disk in the wizard, just select the second data store

  What the penalty or drawback to the use of extensions?

  They're just not necessary anymore. Extents should be used prior to ESX (i) 4.0 to resize a data store. With ESX(I) 4.0, it is now possible to resize/grow the store of data on the fly after resizing the underlying LUN without needing extensions. With extents, you lose that option. Basically, a data store extended is as a RAID 0 array.

• Disappointing performance of 10gbe - HELP!

  So, we have recently implemented a new ESX/iSCSI environment and we find that the performance degradation that we were in our 1gbe multichannel environment.

  We have 3 x Dell R910 servers with 2 x Intel Dual Port 82598EB 10 gb CX4 NIC each.

  Each of the servers are connected to a Force10 C300 switch. We use port 1 on each NETWORK card in each server iSCSI traffic and each of them is connected to a separate Force10 C300. The C300 are then cross connected.

  We have 2 x Dell Equallogic PS6510 tables are also connected to the two chassis C300.

  We have a separate vSwitch configured on each host and a wrench VMK for each physical iSCSI NIC we use extended frames and are capable of vmkping a jumbo to the portal framework and target each address on the without any problem.

  When running performance tests in redhat using dbench we see only around 550 MB/s of flow either directly to the vmdk local disk that is stored on a data store multi-channel alternating or using a software in Redhat iSCSI initiator also multipathing.

  We hung our old without comparison and in a similar configuration in the contrary case, we see a 630 mb/s compatible out of our ESX host using 4 x 1gbe between the host and the switch and 3 x 1 GbE to the PS5000.

  Then, with only 4 1gbe NIC host and 3 1gbe NIC on a table with 32 less readers that we are seeing an INCREASE of 80 MB/s in performance on our new hardware 10gbe... what gives?

  During the passage of the selection policy of Round Robin Fixed path on the data store see us speeds drop to nearly 130 MB/s

  I think that we must be missing some configuration step huge to see this terrible execution.

  Ideas?

  Have you considered that the bottleneck may not be network support?   What makes you sure that your storage system can provide more I/O as your Gigabit network delivered?
